The figures have been compiled from the records of the Director of Census Opera­ tions of Madhya Pradesh. It may be noted that the Cen")us authorities do not compile "census figures patwari circle-wise. Also, in their method of compila... tion, ~non-municjpal urban areas have been tagged o~ with the municipal areas, of._'\Vhich they form out growths. As non-municipal urban areas are not legally within the municipal limits, in this booklet they have been tagged on to the rele"ant patwari circles. This will expJain the difference between the populatio~ . G", _ figures of towns having non-municipal out growths as computed by Census authorities and as given in this booklet. The figures of Municipal towns as given in this booklet indicate the population comprised strictly within the municipal Hmits. 2. Forest villages do not form a part of any patwari circle, as they are not strit:tly Revenue villages under the Madhya Pradesh Land Revenue Code. In this booklet they have, therefore, been attached to those patwari circles with which they are contiguous. They have been~ however, distinguished by the abbreviation 'F. V.'. - 3. Totals of population figures for every basic administrative unit e. g. patwari circle, revenue Inspector circle, tahsil etc., have been given in bold tyPes opposite its particulars. Along with the population figures pertaining to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, their percentages to total population have also been given; Percentages have been worked out only in respect of basic administrative ~nits and not village-wise. 4. Yoganandam Chhattisgarh College, Raipur C.G. Abstract: Holkar Dynasty was established by Malhar Rao on 29th July 1732. Holkar belonging to Maratha clan of Dhangar origin. The Maheshwar lies in the North bank of Narmada river valley and well known Ancient town of Mahismati region. It had been capital of Maratha State. The fort was built by Great Maratha Queen Rajmata Ahilya Devi Holkar and her named in 1767 AD. Rani Ahliya Devi was a prolific builder and patron of Hindu Temple, monuments, Palaces in Maheshwar and Indore and throughout the Indian territory pilgrimages. Ahliya Devi Holkar ruled on the Indore State of Malwa Region, and changed the capital to Maheshwar in Narmada river bank. The study indicates that the Narmada river flows from East to west in a straight course through / lineament zone. The Fort had been constructed on the right bank (North Wards) of River. Geologically, the region is occupied by Basaltic Deccan lava flow rocks of multiple layers, belonging to Cretaceous in age. The river Narmada flows between Northwards Vindhyan hillocks and southwards Satpura hills.

ABSTRACT Lake Water samples were collected from fifteen (15) locations during pre and post monsoon season. The physico-chemical parameters such as Total Alkalinity, Carbonate Alkalinity, Bi-Carbonate Alkalinity, Total Hardness, Ca Hardness, Mg Hardness, Ca Content, Mg Content, Chloride, Phosphate, Total Phosphoras, Organic Phosphoras, Nitrate, Biological Oxigen Demand and Chemical Oxigen Demand were analyzed to know the present status of the lakewater quality. After statistical analysis it was cleared that the positive co-relationship occurred between the attributes and attributes are independent to each other and these varied according to locations. INTRODUCTION: Upper lake is an east westerly elongated typical tropical lake, was built by king Bhoj of Dhar (1,000-1,055) by constructing a massive earthen structures across Kolans River. The lake has catchment area of 361 km2 with a water submergence length of 12 km and maximum width of 1.75 km at Full Tank Level. Available records reveal that the lake area was approximately 2 km2 in the beginning. In 1963 the water spread area of the lake increased form 13.8 km2 to maximum of 36.1 km2 by constructing 11 radial gates at Bhadbhada waste weir.
