Air Capital Flyers Summer Games 2016 Information Please Read Carefully

Wichita State University will be the host of Friday night’s Excel BBQ and Opening Ceremonies. As usual, cycling will be held Friday afternoon in the South Parking Lot of Arena. Aquatics and Tennis Skills will also be held Friday at the WSU Heskett Center, Tennis Match Play will be held at Coleman Tennis Courts and WSU will host all the Track events on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night’s Victory Banquet and Dance will be at The this year. The Cotillion is located just north of Kellogg and 111th Street West. You may wear your Team t-shirt or the Purple Polo shirt you purchased to Opening Ceremonies. The Teams Outdoors Jersey and your own black shorts must be worn at Cycling and Tennis Friday, and when you compete in track and field events Saturday and Sunday. This jersey’s will be checked out the day of your first competition and checked back in after your final event of the weekend, whether it’s Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We have purchased meal tickets for all athletes competing in Summer Games. This includes Friday evening’s BBQ, Saturday’s lunch and Banquet, and Sunday’s lunch.

Bottled Water or Gatorade Donations Are Accepted and Welcomed for this event.

Line up for Parade of Athletes: 6:45 p.m.: on the track at Cessna Stadium - WSU

Opening Ceremonies – 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. – Cessna Stadium – WSU

The parade of athletes is limited to 12 athletes / 6 coaches, the rest of the athletes and coaches should be seated by 7:00 p.m. in Cessna Stadium. Athletes selected to walk in the parade need to report to Koch Arena by 6:30 p.m.

Please have your ride ready to pick you up at 9:30 p.m. at the West Entrance to the stadium. Opening ceremonies may still be taking place at this time. It is up to the athlete and his/her ride whether you stay for the conclusion or not.

Saturday, June 4th

- Athletes have been assigned a coach to assist with getting them to and from their events. Parents and family members will not have access onto the track. Each local program will receive an allotment of field passes.

Victory Banquet: The Cotillion – 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. (11120 W. Kellogg, Wichita, KS 67209) Victory Dance: The Cotillion – 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.

Banquet/Dance:

Parents, family members and house guardians: Please let us know if you plan to attend this banquet with the Team. Those of you planning to attend this banquet must check in along with the team. The cost is $15.00 per person and should be paid directly to the team. The state office will add the cost of all family members attending the banquet to the teams registration invoice. Family members are encouraged to attend the dance at 8:00 p.m.

We will begin to gather as a team at 9:00 p.m. to leave the dance. We will leave the dance as a Team. No Athlete will be allowed to stay late at the dance by themselves.

If you plan to attend the banquet with the Team, please meet us at the main entrance of the Cotillion at 6:45 p.m. Please make arrangements to pick up your athletes at the Cotillion at 9:00 p.m.

Transportation arrangements:

Athletes or Parents providing another athlete with transportation must have a Class A Volunteer Form on file with the State Special Olympics Office.

Sunday, June 5th

Staging for the first events will begin at 8:00. Competition 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Athletes with early events should arrive at 7:45 a.m. Relays are to begin the staging process at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. Please make arrangements to have your ride pick you up at 12:45 p.m. - WSU

Uniforms: The Team Jersey will be collected after your last event, whether it is Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Therefore, please bring a change of clothes with you and turn in your uniform to one of the following coaches;
