Harvington Duo Sat 29 Feb, 8.00pm Barbara and Danielle first played together at Harvington Hall accompanying Regency Dance, leading them to explore a flute and guitar repertoire on modern and period instruments. Foyer Folk: Oujamaflip & Julie July Acoustic Trio Sat 14 Mar, 8.00pm Known for energetic live sets, local duo Oujamaflip play a mix of original and traditional music in folk and Eastern European styles. The Julie July Acoustic Trio pay a heartfelt tribute to the great singer-songwriter, Sandy Denny, from dreamy acoustic melodies to driving progressive folk-rock. £8

Foyer Folk: Johnny Coppin Sat 18 Apr, 8.00pm Singer-songwriter Johnny Coppin plays guitar and piano, creating a melodic and evocative sound. He began his career as one of the founder members of folk band, Decameron before going solo, and has since recorded over twelve albums. He presents Folk Roots on BBC Radio Gloucestershire. £9

Pershore Arts: How Do They Do It? Thu 30 Apr, 8.00pm Members of Pershore Arts invite you to come along to meet the artists, see their work and discover what sparks their creative side. Admission free.

Foyer Folk: Reivers’ Gallows Sat 9 May, 8.00pm This four-piece from the Forest of Dean perform a mix of English and Irish folk tunes and songs, with a dash of sea salt for good measure. Expect an evening of foot stomping and sing along music! £8 WELCOME

As we get set for spring we have a packed programme ahead. Our live events line-up includes the Orchestra of the Swan, ABBA tribute Thank You for the Music, and Hats Off to Led Zeppelin. Presenter and entomologist George McGavin will be sharing his tales from television, plus there are theatre productions Choice Grenfell and Roald Dahl & the Imagination Seekers. Via satellite we have world class theatre, operas and ballets, a tribute to Vienna from Jonas Kaufmann, and the concert Michael Ball & Alfie Boe: Back Together. There’s the opportunity to see David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet beamed in live from the premiere and to join in with the VE Day 75 end of WWII anniversary commemorations.

The Cellist / Dances at a Gathering Recorded at the Royal Opera House, London The Royal Ballet presents a double bill featuring a new work from Cathy Marston and an elegant classic from Jerome Robbins. Inspired by Jacqueline du Pré The Cellist is Marston’s first work for The Royal Ballet Main Stage. A masterpiece of subtlety and invention set to music by Chopin, Robbins’ Dances at a Gathering, is an exercise in pure dance for five couples.

Fidelio Live from the Royal Opera House, London Jonas Kaufmann plays the political prisoner Florestan, and Lise Davidsen his wife Leonore (disguised as ‘Fidelio’) who daringly sets out to rescue him, in this new production of Beethoven’s masterpiece. The music is transcendent throughout and Tobias Kratzer’s new staging brings together the dark reality of the French revolutionary ‘Terror’ and our own time to illuminate Fidelio’s inspiring message of shared humanity. OOTS move from Schubert’s Octet in D Major, a winning combination of joviality, delicate melancholy, technical finesse, and rhythmic dash, to Gounod’s Petite Symphonie, which exhibits a classical clarity of form and phrase structure with shades of romantic harmony and expressivity. Cropthorne-with-Charlton C of E First School presents Ye-Ha! Cropthorne-with-Charlton First School bring you a show that squeezes all the fun and adventure of the old west into a wonderfully wild musical comedy. Something stinks in Splodge City - and it ain't the drains! Mad Dog McNut and his gang are running wild and Wilbur Hubbard, cowardly cook at the Fordoor Saloon lands the job no-one wants - Sheriff of Splodge. Luckily for Wilbur, Billie-Jo Brisket and her faithful steed Lightning roll into town to lend a hand, and suddenly the race is on to save the town. Anne Frank: Parallel Stories Helen Mirren tells the story of Anne Frank’s life through the pages of her world famous diary in this big screen presentation. What would Anne’s life have been like had she survived? What would have happened to her hopes and dreams? How would she have reacted to the rekindling of antisemitism and racism today? This emotive telling is entwined with insight from historians and the stories of five Holocaust survivors (Arianna Szörenyi, Sarah Lichtsztejn-Montard, Helga Weiss and sisters Andra and Tatiana Bucci) who shared Anne’s same fate of deportation but fortunately survived to live the life that Anne was denied. An evocative documentary which brings Anne’s tragic, yet incredible, story to life and explores why it still holds such great relevance today. Hats Off to Led Zeppelin Hats Off to Led Zeppelin have received many accolades over the years, most recently winning the Best Led Zeppelin Tribute for the seventh year running and the Best Tribute Act in the UK 2019. They are the only tribute act in the UK officially endorsed by Marshall Amplifiers and are managed by the son of Led Zeppelin’s legendary manager, Peter Grant. The band have performed with Queen, Ray Davies, Iron Maiden and Gerry & the Pacemakers amongst others, as well as playing some of the West End’s most enduring shows including We Will Rock You, Tommy, Jersey Boys and Buddy. Now only an organisation known as the Ancient Guild of Tale Tenders can save the stories - and they need your help. This show is a theatrical and interactive experience for all the family to enjoy. A thrilling story delivered through performance, games and creative play, it explores Roald Dahl's extraordinary stories, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG and The Twits along the way. Get Lost and Found have been specially commissioned by Puffin Books to create this show, the only interactive show licensed by the Roald Dahl literary estate to tour. For family audiences aged 5+. Exhibition on Screen: Easter in Art The story of Christ’s death and resurrection has dominated western culture for the past 2000 years. It is perhaps the most significant historical event of all time, as recounted by the gospels but, equally, as depicted by the greatest artists in history. From the triumphant to the savage, the ethereal to the tactile, some of western civilization’s greatest artworks focus on this pivotal moment. This beautifully crafted film explores the Easter story as depicted in art, from the time of the early Christians to the present day. Shot on location in Jerusalem, United States and throughout Europe, it explores a number of artists and the different ways they have interpreted the subject. Directed by Phil Grabsky.

The Arts Society Evesham & Pershore presents 40 Years of The Antiques Roadshow A first-hand insight into the nation’s most popular antiques programme from Marc Allum - specialist on the show for over 20 years. Join Marc at Number 8 as he takes you behind the scenes and shares his stories from the show. Marc Allum is an art and antiques journalist, writer and broadcaster based in Wiltshire. He is about to begin his 23rd year as a specialist on the BBC Antiques Roadshow and has appeared on many television and radio programmes. Marc writes for mainstream magazines, is an author, antiques consultant and lecturer and runs a fine art valuation and consultancy service. Marc has many interests ranging from pre-history to modern design and is a self-confessed collectaholic. Organised by The Arts Society of Evesham & Pershore. David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet Live from the World Premiere, Royal Albert Hall One man has seen more of the natural world than any other. This unique feature documentary is his witness statement. In his 93 years, David Attenborough has visited every continent, exploring the wild places of our planet and documenting the living world in all its variety and wonder. Now, for the first time he reflects upon both the defining moments of his lifetime as a naturalist and the devastating changes he has seen. Honest, revealing and urgent, David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet is a powerful first-hand account of humanity’s impact on nature and a message of hope for future generations. The screening will conclude with a Q&A with David Attenborough live from the Royal Albert Hall.

Jewels Live from the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow This opulent triptych was inspired by Balanchine’s visit to the famous jeweller Van Cleef & Arpels on ’s Fifth Avenue, celebrating the cities and dance schools of Paris, New York and St. Petersburg, each bound to its own precious stone: emerald, ruby and diamond. Balanchine built a homage of captivating beauty to the three dance schools that had forged his style, each represented by a contrasting gemstone. Jewels offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the genius of this choreographer’s visually captivating work performed by some of the world’s most dazzling dancers. With music by Gabriel Fauré, Igor Stravinsky and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Kick in the Head presents Choice Grenfell Directed by Simon Downing A wonderful tribute to the great, unremittingly genteel, Joyce Grenfell featuring a selection of her hilarious songs and monologues from Stately as a Galleon and School Nativity Play, to A Terrible Worrier and First Flight. Joyce, played by Suzanne Walters, is our guide for a delightful delve into some of her most endearing characters, ably accompanied by Andrew D Brewis as her trusted pianist William Blezard. Production company Kick in the Head are grateful to the family of William Blezard for allowing them access to previously unpublished rehearsal recordings and personal letters from Joyce, offering a unique insight into the queen of comediennes.

Sketches by Joyce Grenfell are presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH LTD, a Concord Theatricals Company.

Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci Recorded at the Royal Opera House, London Two opera classics are drawn together in this wonderfully observed re-creation of life in a south Italian village as a travelling theatre visits and emotions erupt. The award-winning production by Damiano Michieletto presents vividly the fast-moving, shocking events brought about by secret love and uncontrollable jealousy. The music is full of Italianate melody in the great choruses that bring the villagers together in celebration and revelry, alongside the solo arias and tense confrontations that provoke violence and tragedy. With thrilling singing and intense drama, ‘Cav and Pag’ distils into one wonderful night out, the enduring appeal of Italian opera in its most familiar form. VE Day 75 With the Daily Mail Live from the Royal Albert Hall, London Exactly 75 years since Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s announcement of the end of WWII, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra plus special guests will unite the nation for an inspiring and patriotic evening. Audiences will enjoy stirring and emotional music from some of Britain’s greatest composers, from Elgar’s Nimrod to Walton’s Spitfire Prelude and Fugue, Holst’s Planet Suite to Ron Goodwin’s Battle of Britain Theme and many more. There will also be on stage appearances by WWII veterans. Presented by and in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, this will be an unforgettable night of commemoration and celebration broadcast live from the sold out Royal Albert Hall.

Makin Projects Ltd presents George McGavin It’s a Wild Life: Tales from Television In this exclusive evening, Dr George McGavin joins us at Number 8 to share his personal journey to discover the world of wildlife, big and, especially, small. A renowned entomologist and passionate advocate of conservation, George was an academic zoologist for 30 years before becoming a TV presenter. He is the author of numerous books and a respected speaker inspiring and educating audiences about insects, ecology, evolution, conservation and exploration. George is familiar to TV audiences as a contributor to BBC’s The One Show, delighting viewers with his ecology reports, and from the BBC’s Lost Lands, The Secret Life of Landfill and Monkey Planet. He has several insect species named in his honour, all of which he hopes will survive him!

NT Live: The Welkin Live from the National Theatre, London One life in the hands of twelve women. Rural Suffolk in England, 1759. Jonas Kaufmann My Vienna Recorded at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Vienna in 2019 A personal tribute by the star tenor Jonas Kaufmann to the world-famous melodies from Vienna - the birthplace of waltz and operetta. Filmed live in the magical setting of the Wiener Konzerthaus, the concert features popular Viennese music from Die Fledermaus and Wienerblut by Johann Strauss and Franz Lehár’s The Merry Widow, plus many of the classic songs inspired by the city of Vienna. Kaufmann performs with the Prague Philharmonia orchestra under the baton of Maestro Jochen Rieder and is joined by the internationally acclaimed soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen. Kaufmann has a special rapport with Austria and Vienna, stemming from the time he spent on his grandparents’ farm in Tyrol as a child. The Dante Project Live from the Royal Opera House, London Dante’s Divine Comedy is an epic journey through the afterlife: it encompasses the horrifying drama of Inferno and its damned, the lyrical mysticism of pilgrims on Mount Purgatorio and the dazzling spheres of Paradiso with their endless configurations of light. The poem was inspired by Dante’s own exile and traces his path from crisis to revelation guided by his literary hero Virgil and his lost love Beatrice. In this new work, The Royal Ballet’s trailblazing Resident Choreographer Wayne McGregor collaborates with a brilliant award-winning team - contemporary composer Thomas Adès, artist Tacita Dean, lighting designer Lucy Carter and dramaturg Uzma Hameed - to bring us closer to Dante and his extraordinary vision.

Pershore Operatic & Dramatic Society: Chicago PODS bring you a story of murder, greed and adultery played out as a musical vaudeville. Chicago is a scathing satire on the American justice system and the pursuit of fame with fabulous songs including All that Jazz, Razzle Dazzle and All I Care About is Love and Bob Fosse choreography.

Access The ground floor of Number 8 is fully accessible with the first row of the auditorium reserved for wheelchair users and patrons with mobility problems. Please advise Box Office if you require additional assistance. As space is limited, we cannot guarantee parking space for mobility scooters during shows. If you are planning to bring a scooter, please telephone beforehand to check. The auditorium is equipped with an infra-red hearing system for films and events via satellite and selected screenings are shown with subtitles for those with hearing loss. These screenings are indicated by (ST) after the film time. For films where it is available we offer audio description AD))) for customers with sight loss. CEA Card holders can obtain a FREE ticket for a person accompanying them to film screenings and events beamed in via satellite.
