Combining their professionalism and vast experience in the local housing and rental market, Nick Berriman and Caroline Eaton regarded developing a unique school guide as a natural stepping stone for keeping home sellers and buyers well informed. “School selection is unquestionably a much major factor when looking for a new home, so understanding and helping our clients needs was a key constituent in the development”. “Following the successful launch last year, the 2016 guide has been improved to embrace state secondary and primary schools in our catchment area that are rated as ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ by their last Ofsted inspections. “We were overwhelmed by the positive response from last year’s circulation of 10,000 copies. The free publication provided the early steps in assisting purchasers and as before, our aim is to provide a guide to access quality education from both the state and independent sector available from the communities we serve. We sincerely hope our new publication will offer some informed and valuable assistance in your quest for your new home”. Nick Berriman & Caroline Eaton, Directors Our Top 10 Guide to buying near your preferred school 1. Plan well ahead and check the waiting list for the appropriate year 2. Don’t rely too much on Ofsted and league tables. Visit a selection of schools and fi nd one that suits your child’s abilities and character 3. Look for areas where there are both good primary and secondary schools 4. Meet the head teachers, make sure the good ones aren’t planning retirement 5. Check catchment area and any other criteria that could assist directly with the school 6. If you are planning for your child to walk to school, check road safety and short cuts 7. Do a dummy run and check for heavy traffi c at school times 8. Talk to other parents 9. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket for an area with only one good school - look for an area with a range of good schools 10. Driven by a 24% increase in births between 2002 and 2016, levels of demand for school provision have increased significantly in recent years. In excess of 3,000 additional places have been commissioned since 2012 in primary schools and since 2017 in secondary schools, to cater for the demographic uplift. The recently witnessed increase in demand for primary provision in the City, has already started to impact on the City’s secondary estate and significant additional capacity will be required to cater for future cohorts.

  • Consultation on Proposed Changes To
CONSULTATION ON PROPOSED CHANGES TO BRIDGNORTH ENDOWED SCHOOL (Reduction in Published Admission Number and closure of Sixth Form) On THURSDAY 29TH NOVEMBER 2018 at 6PM At Old Hall, Bridgnorth Endowed School PRESENT: Mr B Worth Headteacher Mr M Freathy Chair of Governors IN ATTENDANCE: Mrs Jo Nicholls - Clerk to governors Parents of pupils at Bridgnorth Endowed School (4) Chair of Bridgnorth Area Schools' Trust (representing Oldbury Wells School, Bridgnorth) 1. ADDRESS BY HEADTEACHER The Headteacher thanked those present for coming out to the meeting and introduced himself, the Chair of Governors and the Clerk who would be recording the meeting. He then outlined, with the aid of a screen presentation, the considerations which had led to the Governing Board’s decision to both reduce the current Published Admission Number (PAN) and withdraw sixth form provision at Bridgnorth Endowed School (BES). The key focus points of the presentation were as follows: FALLING PUPIL DEMOGRAPHIC Pupil numbers had gone through a sustained period of decline within Bridgnorth. There had been a 20% drop-off of pupils aged 11-18 for local secondaries to draw from over the past ten years. An even bigger drop, of 40%, had been sustained in children following a course for 16-19-year-olds in the town. Reasons for this decline were complex, the Head said, but a clear factor was the increasing desire of pupils to go further afield to study at this stage of their education. With more children aspiring to university it was a good interim step, offering a taste of independence and a sense of new horizons.

You can also view the results from the past years to see the trends and how well the Academy does. The School is immensely proud of its KS5 results. The Sixth Form has had a small cohort for several years and so truly every student, and every examination paper, counts.
