Denn es handelt sich weder um ein richtiges Buch noch um echten Journalismus, sondern lediglich um all das, was die Jungle World und die Bahamas nicht drucken wollten sowie außerdem um die Schnipsel, die Kulla vor lauter Scham gar nicht erst irgendwo angeboten hat. Das Themenspektrum ist zu breit, du als Leser wirst für zu schlau gehalten, alles ist wirr und fragmentarisch – und das wird als Hohn auch noch zur Kunst erhoben. Dabei hätte Kulla vielleicht etwas Anständiges geschrieben, wenn er im Laufe des Jahres nicht dreimal umgezogen wäre. Naja, nun ist es passiert. Du kannst aber aus dem Schaden klug werden und das Ganze als weiteren Beweis dafür lesen, daß Weblogs kein Ersatz für ordentlichen Journalismus sind und von daher wie alles Nichtamtliche und Unerlaubte in einem deutschen Haushalt nichts zu suchen hat. 36 International Journal of Music Business Research, October 2013, vol. 2 no. 2 The Newcastle music industry: An ethnographic study of a regional creative system in action Phillip McIntyre and Gaye Sheather1 Abstract This paper presents detailed preliminary findings from an ethnographic study of the Newcastle NSW music industry. It argues that in the midst of seemingly continuous change primarily wrought by the advent of new global trade regimes and associat- ed digital technologies there are also fundamental continuities at work for local music industries. These continuities are evident in the idea that these industries are part of a dynamic system of choice-making agents constituted by musicians, pro- moters, media operatives, venue owners, educators, policy makers and many oth- ers. They compete and collaborate within the structures of a gift and financial economy which exists in a regional and global framework with a dynamic history that has helped shape this creative system in action. Keywords: Creative system, creativity, music industry, field, ethnography 1 Introduction Prior to the turn of the millenium "fundamental ideological changes in the global political arena led to the creation of pro-market international trade regimes" (Thussu 2000: 82). As the processes of deregulation, pri- vatization and the opening of borders to rapid flows of capital "com- bined with new digital information and communication technologies" (ibid.) the impacts these produced have been felt across all economies internationally, from advanced to less well developed ones. This certain- ly happened in Europe and America but other regions, countries and localities have been living through the continuities and changes these developments continue to bring. -

Clear Channel owns radio and television stations and billboards. The combined company is to be called Clear Channel Communications, and it will be the world's largest out-of-home media enti- ty ("out-of-home" primarily referring to radio stations and billboards.) The stock swap is valued at $56 billion. Because of certain regulatory limitations in the Telecommunications Act of 1996, Clear Channel and AMFM are expected to unload 125 stations. After this divestiture, the combined assets of Clear Channel and AMFM will give the new company apresence in 32 countries with 830 radio stations in 187 markets; stakes in more than 240 radio stations outside the U.S.; 425,000 bill- boards; and 19 television stations affiliated with Fox, UPN, ABC, NBC and CBS. Lowry Mays, Chairman and CEO of Clear Channel, will retain that position after the merger.
