Comments about Xylocaine EP - Xylocaine

Cerekelv This record is a gem. Samples heavily from Australian television. Pure Xylocaine. My copy of this record came in a printed Kill Out sleeve. There is nothing anywhere on the label to indicate who made the record or which number in the catalog it is. Boyn The incarnation of the reason why many people don't like gabber. Every cliché is represented: stupid vocal gimmicks, guitar riffs, doofus "melodies" with cheap electronic-game sounds, breakneck speed (respectively 222, 255, 204/408 and 300 bpm) - is it fast or plain silly?... Nice record if you're into that genre, a waste of wax if you are not. Gholbirius not gabba stick to the cheesefreak! Nice record if you're into that genre, a waste of wax if you are not. Contrary to the opinions of certain fatuous armchair critics, this record is not a traditional gabber record, nor does it contain actual guitar riffs of any sort whatsoever. This record emanates from Newcastle, 's experimental haze of 1996 - at a time when such tempos were frowned upon by the self-appointed electronic music elite and their respective girlfriends. This was to be the final release of the first phaze of Kill Out Recordings, A & R'd by DJ Freak and pressed by Damon D'Cruze in London. It was re-recorded and re-issued later in 1997 through Sound Base in Germany, whilst Xylocaine was on tour with . The mix down on the re-released version was much dryer and less 'treated' than the original version on Kill Out, and the re-released version also contained a couple of Xylocaine's typically surreal and lo-fi interludes between the tracks on either side of the 12".
