Innovation Center in Hall 26

Two other new developments await visitors of this year’s Ligna fair in Hall 26 – in the Innovation Center of the Homag Group. Only this much now: on show will be a long-established technology sup- plemented by an enhancement which is unique on the market. Furthermore, the Innovation Center will be presenting a so- lution with completely new approaches in panel sizing technology.

8 No. 1 · March 2013 Metal Detection from Germany

Mesutronic Gerätebau GmbH presents itself once again with excellent metal detection technology for the wood in- dustry at the LIGNA 2013 - the international wood trade fair in Hannover. The company is exhibiting metal detec- tors and separators for the protection of strippers, recipro- cating saws, chippers, presses and milling machines as well as for the checking of finished products in Hall 027/Booth F04 - On site the manufacturer is showing, for example, the METRON 05 CO stationary splinter detector, installed in a TRANSTRON HL heavy-duty belt conveyor.

This complete system is used for the inspection of tree trunks on the log yard, for which the tree trunks are trans- ported through the metal detector on a trough conveyor belt. The METRON 05 VT metal detector serves to protect chippers. It is installed directly in thetrough of a vibration conveyor.Also on show at the booth is the QUICKTRON 05 A free-fall metal separator. It is used for examining wood chips, pellets, sawdust or wood shavings in downpipes.

The Perfect Choice For The Visitors Center At The Añana Salt Valley In Spain

Genesis

The project was based around a simple design for the visitors’ centre. The exterior shape is elliptical, fulfilling all the require- ments for a practical display and meeting area and creating an interesting interior space with subdued lighting to create at- mosphere.This geometric shape is formed by the roof of the building, linked to the masonry walls on both sides and the floor. It has an oblique cut on the east side that creates access to the building, with two other side openings. The inspiration for the design, material and structure came from the architect’s experience of build- ing his own kayak, using wood to create its unique curved shape.So the design re- sembles an upside down boat’s hull.

The coated surface runs through an air-jet dryer as an evaporation zone. Thus the product is ready for the surface mod- ification whereby a matt surface with a great strength is produced by means of UV-radiation.

Hymmen has made this extensive de- velopment together with external part- ners. GreCon Introduces New Surface Inspec- tion SUPERSCAN SPR 5000

The company, one of the leading German manufacturers of surface inspection sys- tems in the wood based panel area, has ex- panded its portfolio with an inspection sys- tem in the raw panel segment (MDF/HDF or particleboard): Superscan SPR 5000. The first system is already successfully installed at a major wood based panel manufacturer.

The advantages of the new surface inspection system at a glance:

The inspection system Superscan SPR 5000 detects all defects occurring on the panel surface in the production process, de- termines their type and position and calcu- lates the defective area.
