The hint of warm weather has definitely gotten the creative juices flowing for the Design Team this month. Their assignment for this issue was to come up with designs using the same six colors from Paplin, Light Yellow, Federal Blue, Hyacinth Blue, Fern Green, Teal, and Brick Red. It is always so amazing to see with the same materials the different designs and styles used by the Design Team. Regina Ribeiro of Horizonte, Brazil I am Regina Ribeiro from Belo Horizonte, Brazil and my first knowledge of quilling was in my school times when I studied it at boarding school. I moved to Belo Horizonte and after my marriage I did a lot of these crafts, like crochet, knitting, oil painting, ceramics, fabric flowers, origami, etc...etc... I did not quill for a very long time till the year 1999 when my son bought a computer and I discover it again. I belong to a paper craft group where I found an "angel" who sent me tools , papers and some basic booklets where I could learn a little more. This special angel was Janet Wilson to whom I deserve all the best and give thank you everyday in my prayers for showing me how to develop my work. At the beginning of this year I discover a new way to show my works using large strips of paper and also matching them with some embroidery and punches. I have been making cards, frames, pictures, pots and was also a Quilling Instructor in the National Craft Fair for two years, and every time I am invited to them. I also give some free classes as a volunteer in my home town library. Review Paplin Papers... DT Ann: The Paplin strips are very nice to work with - they are evenly cut, the colors are rich, and glue takes hold quickly. DT Doreen: I find the Paplin regular papers quite easy to work with, as they hold their shape well. I just wish they were an even 24 inches in length. The colors are quite nice to work with as well.
