These warships are primarily deployed to deter aggression and protect American strategic interests. Should deterrence fail, the carrier’s bombers and attack aircraft engage in vital operations to support other forces. The collection includes the 1940-designed Grumman TBM Avenger of World War II. Also on display is the Douglas A-1 Skyraider, a true workhorse of the 1950s and ‘60s, as well as the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk and Grumman A-6 Intruder, stalwarts of the Vietnam War. Photo: Collection of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum GRUMMAN / EASTERNGRUMMAN AIRCRAFT AVENGER TBM-3E GRUMMAN/EASTERN AIRCRAFT TBM-3E AVENGER TORPEDO BOMBER First flown in 1941 and introduced operationally in June 1942, the Avenger became the U.S. Navy’s standard torpedo bomber throughout World War II, with more than 9,836 constructed. Originally built as the TBF by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, they were affectionately nicknamed “Turkeys” for their somewhat ungainly appearance. Wprowadzenie Transport lotniczy jest jednym z ważniejszych działów dzisiejszej logistyki. Jest on realizowany przez środki transportu lotniczego, czyli głównie samoloty (rzadziej przez śmigłowce, a sporadycznie przez sterowce). Ważnym zagadnieniem jest, więc zdolność wytwarzania tego rodzaju środków transportu przez dane państwo. Rozwiniętym przemysłem lotniczym dysponuje tylko kilkanaście państw na świecie. Dotyczy to zwłaszcza: USA, Wielkiej Brytanii, Francji, Niemiec, Hiszpanii, Brazylii, Kanady oraz w pewnym stopniu Rosji i ChRL. Przez kilkadziesiąt lat do tego elitarnego grona zaliczała się także Polska, której przemysł lotniczy z zakładami PZL na Okęciu, w Mielcu i Świdniku, znajdował się w czołówce europejskiej. W okresie PRL było to spowodowane dużymi zamówieniami na samoloty wojskowe, obok których niekiedy pracowano także nad samolotami cywilnymi. W latach 90. polski przemysł musiał ulec prywatyzacji. W przypadku lotnictwa doprowadziło to do pełnego uzależnienia zakładów PZL wobec koncernów zachodnich. Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie typów samolotów transportowych, które są produkowane lub projektowane w obecnej Polsce. Należy jedna zwrócić uwagę, iż zakłady PZL żadnych nowych samolotów już nie projektują. Nowe projekty sporadycznie powstają jedynie w firmach prywatnych. Czas pokaże, czy doczekają się one realizacji. The highest recorded batch number is 174; the number of aircraft in batches 01 to 33 was 10, and in batches 34 to 174 was 20. The initial batch 00 was limited to four aircraft. 6 004 07 506 An-2M built by DMZ (factory # 464) at Moscow-Dolgoprudny from 1966 to 1971 18 batches have been produced with as many as 50 aircraft per batch. Kolejna, 101. rocznica odzyskania przez Polskę niepodległości, w kalendarzu niezbyt odległa od 80. rocznicy wybuchu II wojny światowej, która tę niepodległość dramatycznie przekreśliła, jest okazją do refleksji nad tym, jak poradziliśmy sobie z zagospodarowaniem tej wolności dla jej umacniania i obrony. Także – do refleksji nad tym, na ile popełniane przy budowaniu siły obronnej II Rzeczypospolitej błędy potrafimy dziś zrozumieć i potraktować jako lekcję. Z perspektywy dzisiejszej wiedzy historycznej, znając skutki decyzji dotyczących obronności Polski po 1918 r., zapadających w całym dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym, stosunkowo łatwo jest wystawiać oceny. Z obiektywnych i wiarygodnych źródeł znamy konsekwencje decyzji, bądź braku decyzji. Ich tragiczna w skutkach weryfikacja rozpoczęła się 1 września 1939 roku. A mimo to znaczna część społeczeństwa hołduje swoistej mitologii, gloryfikując specyficzną alternatywną wizję rzeczywistości zapisaną słowami: „...gdyby nie zabrakło nam czasu, to...” Wybuch wojny zastał II Rzeczpospolitą jeszcze przed półmetkiem opracowywanego od 1936 roku 6- letniego planu rozbudowy sił zbrojnych. Zakładano, że w latach 1937-1942 państwo wyłoży na jego realizację – w takich obszarach jak lotnictwo, łączność, wojska pancerne i marynarka wojenna – około 6 miliardów złotych. Był to plan, o czym dziś wiemy ponad wszelką wątpliwość, przekraczający ówczesne możliwości budżetowe państwa. Trwanie przy jego pełnej realizacji okazałoby się w ostatecznym rozrachunku dla państwa niebezpieczne. Potrzebom planu podporządkowano uchwałę Rady Ministrów z 21 stycznia 1937 r. o dotacji – poprzez Fundusz Obrony Narodowej – w wysokości miliarda złotych na inwestycje wojskowe w latach 1937-1940. Integralną częścią planów modernizacji armii była przedstawiona w Sejmie przez wicepremiera Eugeniusza Kwiatkowskiego 5 lutego 1937 r. -

Krasińskiego 8, 40-019 Katowice [email protected] Abstract In the article, the author presents the wide-scale use of Mi-2 helicopters in the different entities subordinated to the Minister of Interior – from the introduction of the design, until the present. Insights are presented pertaining to the early stages of the helicopter’s service life within the structures of the 103rd NJW MSW Aviation Regiment in the 1960s. The article describes selected aspects related to the introduction of the design, training, operational use and problems encountered. The service life of Mi-2 helicopters operating within the structures of the Ministry of Interior ended upon liquidation of the Ministry’s Aviation Detachment. That is when another chapter in the history of the helicopters was started, this time operated within the structures of the Police and Border Guard forces, where their service life has not been fully used up until this day. The paper describes the reality of every-day use to perform specific tasks, presents the location of aerodromes, touches upon a shift in the philosophy behind the use of the helicopters, and describes their strong and weak points. The PZL-Kania helicopter has been also presented, being a modernized version of the Mi-2, and still used in Poland within the aviation forces of the Ministry of Interior and Administration. -
