OBJECTIONS SUBMITTED ON PLANNING APPLICATION No R18/0186 BY THE SAVE COVENTRY SPEEDWAY AND STOX CAMPAIGN – EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Planning Application No: Site Address: Description of the proposal: R18/0186 COVENTRY STADIUM Demolition of existing buildings and RUGBY ROAD outline planning application for COVENTRY residential development of up to 137 WARWICKSHIRE dwellings (Use Class C3) including CV8 3GJ means of access from the Rugby Road, new open space and associated infrastructure. All other matters reserved. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Save Coventry Speedway and Stox Campaign is an umbrella grouping of people who wish to see the long heritage of Speedway and Stock Car Racing in Coventry / Rugby continue, and be returned to the iconic Brandon (aka Coventry) Stadium as soon as possible. The Save Coventry Speedway and Stox Campaign wishes to place on record the strongest possible objections to Planning Application R18/0186, which would result in the loss and redevelopment of Brandon Stadium. The grounds of objections are as follows: 1. The proposals are directly contrary to the provisions of both the existing development plan (the Core Strategy, adopted 2011) and its emerging review (the Rugby Borough Local Plan, 2011- 2031, Publication Draft, September 2016). 2. The housing proposals conflict with the Green Belt designation of the site. 3. The housing proposals are contrary to the provisions of national planning policy, which seeks to protect sports facilities from development. 4. 'Fixing Our Broken Housing Market' and ‘Planning for Growth’ provide no grounds to support the housing proposals. 1 5. Brandon Stadium was, and remains, a viable use for the site. 6.

  • 1965 Pub.Xlsx
Season 1965 Version 1.22 Notes – season files The full season files we have compiled have been collated from Speedway Publications, magazines, books and programmes. These files list the heat details of every (known) UK official meeting raced during that particular season and also attempt to correct the many errors that have been published in the Speedway press and various publications for that season. The points scorers in the official league and KO Cup fixtures should (in the vast majority of cases) correspond with the official averages published at the end of the season, together with any fixture(s) where the result was amended following an appeal to the SCB. We tried to remove as many errors as possible and of course some will remain. The authors will be delighted to hear of any “genuine” mistakes and/or any missing information such as race times, christian names, etc. Steve Wilkes/Gary Done E-mail: [email protected] Coventry v Cradley Heath Saturday 27th March 1965 (British League) coventry 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 pts bpts tpts 1. • The Fans' Favourites
INTRODUCTION Welcome to this FREE speedway e-book, the first of its kind as far as we're aware. This book collates the memories and impressions of riders that we've received for our 'Dream Team' feature on the Speedway Plus website. This book runs from Adams to Zetterstrom giving the supporters' opinions on many riders from the past and present. The comments were made between 2000 and 2007, therefore if you find a comment suggesting that a 27 year old Premier League second string is a stick-on to be World Champion, it's likely to be one of the older contributions. This book differs from any other as it's written entirely by a cross section of supporters, from virtually every track in the land and with varying experiences of speedway. If a rider isn't listed, it's because nobody has chosen them as one of their seven favourite all time riders. Similarly if a little known rider has been included, it's because they've made sufficient impression on someone to be nominated. A definite case of democracy in action. Clearly, given that the comments were all written in this present century, the majority of the riders are from the British League era (1965 onwards). However, there are a number of vintage favourites in there also. If you want your own personal favourites to feature in any subsequent editions then fill in our 'Dream Team' submission form on the website. We hope you enjoy the book. • Rugby Borough Local Plan Examination, April 2018 STAGE 2
Rugby Borough Local Plan Examination, April 2018 STAGE 2 HEARINGS Statement by the Save Brandon Stadium Campaign Group The Save Brandon Stadium Campaign Group (SBSCG) submitted the representations on the local plan. Since then, and following Brandon Estates decision to close the stadium, the campaign has become much larger and more active and is commonly referred to as the Save Coventry Speedway and Stox Campaign. More information about the campaign is summarised in Appendix 1. The Inspector has suggested that issues relating to Brandon Stadium might be best considered during the Stage 2 Hearings under Matter 10, Issue 10b. The following notes supplement and update SBSCG’s original representations and the further written evidence submitted into the Stage 1 Hearings. Reference is also made to the SBSCG’s representations that fall under Matters 7 and 9. In addition to the specific comments made under the Inspectors questions we have appended additional background information as follows: Appendix 2: An updated document summarising the history and heritage of Brandon Stadium. This replaces the equivalent document in our original representations. Appendix 3: A document which summarises the activities that have taken place on-site since Brandon Estate’s decision to close the stadium. This document was prepared and submitted in response to the recent planning application for housing by Brandon Estates. Appendix 4: Copies of significant press coverage of the goings-on at Brandon Stadium. Appendix 5: Main Modifications to the Birmingham Development Plan. Matter 7 – Economic Development Policies Issue 7b: Other Employment Policies (Policies ED2 to ED4) 1. • Results & Heat Details
Season 1967 Version 1.14 Notes – season files The full season files we have compiled have been collated from Speedway Publications, magazines, books and programmes. Steve Wilkes/Gary Done E-mail: [email protected] Hackney v Glasgow Friday 24th March 1967 (British League) hackney 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 pts bpts tpts 1.
