From the Desk of the Chairman

"We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future." -Franklin D. Roosevelt

These oft quoted words by Franklin D. Roosevelt, rightly describe our aim at Acropolis where we strive to prepare not only excellent professionals but also carve nation builders. The year 19-20 marks the tremendous achievements as Acropolis received 5 star ratings by MHRD and has been placed amongst the top 10 institutes in the Central Zone. Not only this, Acropolis has been placed in the Platinum Category in AICTE- CII Survey and also ranked in the top 50 institutions in an ARIIA survey. Along with quality education, Acropolis focuses on the holistic development of its students. Our aim is to teach students to LEARN, not to just STUDY. These efforts of the institute in the sphere of quality education have been recognized and we are bestowed with the honor of receiving Dainik Bhaskar Eminence Award again this year. During the epidemic time of Covid-19, we have realized that the future is abstract and unknown but the youth in our hands are true asset and can be molded for the real time challenges. Hence, we strive to explore beyond the boundaries of printed words and we are here with the online 27th edition of the Acro-Chronicle. I congratulate the editorial board and student team who have shown their excellence in the publication of the Acro-Chronicle in this tough and challenging time. Stay safe, stay happy….

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” ~Elanor Rosevolt

Seeing great dreams, finding the opportunity, taking the right action and achieving the dreams- is what Acropolis is all about.

In the current pandemic time, when most of the activities are immobile due to severity of Kovid-19 and lock down, we are stepping forward to showcase the activities and events held in Acropolis through Acro-Chronicle bulletin. Though, everyone is at home; all things are static as if time has not only demanded but commanded us to stop; situation is tensed as loss of many lives every day is overwhelming, but thanks to Sumitra Joshi ma’am for putting her efforts to channelize our energy into creative direction and to ignite a fire inside us to work on Acro- Chronicle so that it can be published virtually this time. The beginning was very tough like a herculean task but with the support of Faculty and Student Team, the journey became smoother day by day. We have tried to document all the achievements and talents of students, faculties and college in this e-Acro-Chronicle as much as we can. It was like a dream for me initially but collective and consistent actions resulted in the completion of the magazine. I hope that our long incessant efforts will not go in vein; and at last I would say that Acropolis is a place where the dreams and aspirations take flight and go beyond the limits of the sky.

IMA CONCLAVE

IMA: Through my lens Ms. Nyasi Joshi-CS II Year

It is said, that the 1st year of college is the most memorable part of anybody’s college life. The new environment, experience and new culture are truly a memorable journey. Our 1st year at Acropolis was exceptionally amazing due to the opportunity to participate in the IMA Quest for Leaders where we had the opportunity to present our potential as growing leaders and communicators and where we were awarded with our certificates and trophies in the IMA Conclave 2019-20 on 17th of January 2020. The topic for 2019 was ‘5 Trillion Dollar Economy: Vision to Reality’. We had to present our views on this dream of our country and to discuss if and how this dream was achievable. We CSE students come from a PCM background and were not familiar with economics. But Garima Dubey ma’am was aware of our skills to present our point of view and made us aware of this opportunity. With the constant guidance of Anant Gwal sir, we were able to come up with a model to solve the issue and prepared a presentation n on the same. Our idea mainly focused on entrepreneurship and skilled labor fused together with women empowerment in order to achieve India's goal of 5 trillion dollar economy. We came up with a solution that focuses on generating employment, opportunities and better platform for the people. On 23rd of November, we were ready to showcase best of our knowledge to the jury. The competition was held at Business School. With many teams and many solutions for the topic, it was a very tough competition. Ours was the 5th team. 3rd team was also of acropolis and the participants were our batch-mates. We had to complete our topic in 10 minutes and then the questionnaire. Though we thought about the competition and our chances to win, I was truly amazed by the newborn ideas and solutions presented by all the other teams. The content they presented was very new and didn’t coincide with any other. After our presentation, the judges were very impressed by our model and called it a very practical approach with an innovative solution. They were also amazed to know that we did not have a commerce background and seemed satisfied with our answers. Waiting for the results was the hardest part; sitting at the edge of our chairs and hoping for a good news. The results elevated us when we were declared the winners of IMA QFL 2019-20. The moment to receive the award and cash prize was a very cheery and contented moment for us, as all of our hard work was paying off. Returning to the college, we were greeted by our teachers. Being a winner was an immensely satisfying and the experience was exceptional. The Cherry on the top of the cake was the official award ceremony, where we were awarded with our certificates and trophies in the IMA Conclave 2019-20 on 17th of January 2020. The Conclave was held at Abhay Prashal on 17th and 18th of January 2020, with many Dignitaries and honorable people from all fields of Science, Management, Entrepreneurship, Media and Arts present there to enlighten us with their knowledge and wisdom. We were able to learn, understand and motivated by listening the inspirational role models such as Mrs. Anu Aga, Mr. Shyam Shrinivasan and many other great personalities. Mr. Rajat Sharma inspired us to turn our obstacles into opportunities and Honorable Mr. Nitin Gadkari made us understand the need to improve ourselves and be curious enough to think innovative. All the notes of their speeches and Pictures of such people so close to us still covers most of my gallery and phone storage .This competition opened the gates of brain storming ideas and a world full of opportunity to my naïve mind. It was an experience worth way more than any other thing compared with.

PHENOMENAL EXPERIENCE AT IMA

Indore management association (IMA) organized the 21st edition of 'Quest for leaders', where students from 1st year participated and brought glory to our institution. In the beginning, the nervousness was there but the pride of representing our institution exceeded that nervousness. Working together helped us to build qualities like teamwork and commitment. We were putting, a lot of hard-work doing research, practices; bringing out the best of ourselves. The competition was held at Daly College Business School, where we got to compete with students from various reputed institutions. The exposure we got and the new things we learnt are very valuable. Not only had we got a platform to showcase our skills but also to learn new skills and things that we were lacking. This year's theme was '$5 TRILLION ECONOMY: VISION TO REALITY' where we discussed new and innovative ideas to achieve the dream of making India's economy a $5 trillion one. It was majorly concerned to economics; we being engineering students were to compete in an arena of a very different climate. Our team did a lot of homework and a hand on technology for presentation designing. On the competition date the chief guest orated on skill India thoroughly to show its effect on the visionary $ 5 trillion economy. Acropolis BBA team did a very imaginative work by relating economy with 'chakras' of the human body as described in Yoga theory. The winner of the competition, Acropolis engineering team did a fantastic job. The research on the topic and the skill on the presentations were splendid and oration was perfect. For us it was a first exposure and first experience to be a part of a big event. We made our presentation effectively; our strong point was our research work and design of the presentation. When one of the judges when asked about our contribution in the dollar 5 trillion economy and the other judge asked us about our stand to change the psyche of the people to contribute to mission $ 5 trillion economy, we answered the questions wisely. After 2 months or so we were all were called for main event at basketball club Indore. There were total 40 great personalities on this podium which has previously been witnessed great personalities like Shashi Tharoor N R Narayana Murthy was now lighten up by the words of Shubhra Swami nikhileshwarMr Raja Sharma Sreenivasan etc. they presented their views upon the topics and it was amusing and mesmerizing to listen to such speakers right in front of us and their perspective and vision for the theme. It was a memorable and astounding experience. Thanks to our faculty coordinator Ms. Garima Dubey, for giving this golden opportunity to compete at such a prestigious podium. IMA was not just a competition it was a stupendous journey where we learnt many new and rather important things for acquiring knowledge not only from our teachers or those 40 amazing speakers and judges but from our fellow contestants as well.

The magic of studies in student life!

As a student we all have that kind of thought that why we are studying? Why we always utilize our most of the time in assignment, projects and Homeworkand many more. First of all let me inform you what study is. Basically study is process of developing creativity, curiosity, knowledge, manners, attitude and patience and many more. Student always try to keep himself busy in mobile phones, playing games, surfing the internet and magically the things we are using are the outcomes of the study. studies always give the information to a student related about a particular topic and try to figure out the solutions of the problem .and magically by this process students learn how to overcome the obstacles coming in our life and how to get the solutions easily just because of study and knowledge. So, I think we find the answers of the above question we're studying to clear our concept in life and how to deal with the problems. While doing homework and making the assignments and project we have to pressurize our mind to think extraordinarily and developing the new concepts which is necessary for our brain to develop our personality.

"So, we can say that studies play a vital role in our life. To make our life comfortable and easier" :- )

Connecting Aspirations

Collaborations, the meeting of aspirations, the confluence of dreams, the birth of a vision defines a purpose. Everything is connected, even the iron in your blood is somehow related to a supernova, and because the element iron is itself is created in a dying star. If we see in today’s world also, no single thing is working on its own, it requires a combination of stuff to make a masterpiece. Mechanical Engineering is still the core engine of making and innovating anything you could im agine, from the tip of the pen to the Space-x Flacon heavy rocket. And the most beautiful thing is that you can feel everything. Just the changed perspective is that electronics and programming have come into play. So Why I’m telling you that everything is connected? Simply Hardware is required to run a program, that hardware consists of electronics components and the rigidness of the whole combination is the result of mechanics calculation and the Computer Analysis (Structural Analysis & Computational Fluid Dynamics, etc). If we go in the reverse direction and talk about the Computer Program made to analyze things, then the programming is completely dependent on the practical results of the material and the mechanics. Connecting aspirations becomes a very important part of life to visualize your idea or dream coming into reality. Having knowledge of interconnected things makes your visions clear develop things. "THE ART OF EXPECTATIONS..." . Never ending journey Some all have expectations and we pretty much have them all the time. We expect the road to be there In the evening, when we drive over the hill. We expect our bodies to be I sit in the balcony. able to do everything anytime. We expect the police, the fire department, the pizza delivery man to be there I heard an amazing sound, when we call and when these expectations are not met, the part of our world seems to fall apart. I have to me. learn to accept that my expectations are my creations. Expecting life to always turn out the way you want is -Suryakant Nagar guaranteed to lead to disappointment, because life will ME IV Year not always turn out the way you want it to. Of course, We all have expectations in our lives, what we want out of life and who we want to become. But I believe that one of the keys of happiness lies within how we are managing our expectations. According to me if we don't have expectations, we can never be disappointed. Often, we tend to believe that the way we treat others will be the way we are treated in return. But unfortunately, this does not always happen. We need to find people who appreciate what we do for them. We need to learn how to take responsibility for our own lives and our own decisions before we can expect others to do the same. Expect what you can... but be aware of the fact that sometimes life throws you a curve ball. Try to remain confident while maintain the aspirations, but just remember not to make their aspirations so high that they are impractical or unreachable. When things do not work out the way we had planned, it is much more beneficial to realize that is how life works rather than becoming frustrated at the situation. . HAVE A HOPE RATHER THAN EXPECTATIONS AND YOU WILL TEND NOT TO BE AS DISAPPOINTED.

Perseverance: the secret of all triumphs

The most significant and celebrated sports figure of the 20th century- Muhammad Ali when asked on his trainings said, “I hated every minute of my training, but I said to myself, ‘Don’t quit, suffer now, and live the rest of your life as a champion.” There comes the most heard and applied word in the success stories of people: Perseverance. It can be defined as the continued effort and determination, its holding on to something or towards a goal and working on it, no matter how many times one falls off, yet it’s the hard work even after one gets tired of the efforts that have already been applied. Success is desired by almost every man on this land, but the efforts one puts in to achieve is what counts. It doesn’t matter what your goal is, how different it is from people or how long it takes you to reach that horizon you have dreamt of. It all largely depends on your willingness to persist and persevere. If you truly want something, you need to put in efforts from the nerve and sinew. Do not quit, believe and know that if there are stones that come in your way across, you are surely walking on the right path. Face and cross the hurdles with persistence, it’s your commitments that count. Not just a fact but an eternal truth: success isn’t achieved overnight; there is countless sweat, efforts, dedication and persistence that lies behind it. Perseverance: that’s the key that unlocks the doors of all success. It can be summed up to mean you’re committed and passionate towards your goal. Additionally, it enhances the goal’s value in your life and intensifies one’s motivation level. If you keep persevering in the long run, you’ll definitely achieve your true potentials. The New Rise- Clean Energy As- Ms.TanviRathi, the world is moving IT 2 towards (III Year) sustainable development, we Indians too are taking a leap to match the international goal. We have pivoted our focus on sustainable development which refers to the efficient and effective use of available resources and having a shift towards cleaner energy to enhance the long term development process. What is Sustainable Development? The United Nations defines sustainable development as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. And it has been identified by all the top institutes around the globe 75% of carbon monoxide emissions are caused due to ICE vehicles and they alone cause colossal amounts of pollution on a daily basis. All the world government along with the top companies in the automotive sector has moved their focus on electric vehicles and hence there is a tremendous development in this domain. A lot of young minds and entrepreneurs are working together to boost this transformation too. The government is joining hand in hand and very flexibly updating the policies to set the disrupted supply chain along with various subsidiaries to the buyers of electric vehicles for promoting it in various areas. -PrakharDoshi ME IV year

IT Sector – Base of Future

As Dr. Abdul Kalam once said: "You cannot change your future, but you can change your habits, and surely your habits will change your future." Today not only me but everyone in this world is experiencing these words in their lives. Covid- 19 has thrown up challenges as well as many opportunities across various business segments. The pandemic has caused unimaginable loss to the global economy, and the loss of human lives. The pandemic has become an unexpected present as well as the future of our life. Despite this, we are living and accepting the challenges coming our way. How? By changing our habits. Like not going out unless and until it is very important, wearing masks, using sanitizer, eating healthy food, etc. Not only the habits but the way of doing work is also changed. Thankfully, the digital world has some sort of solution to the problems. Everything, every work, even every process is digitalized. The education is given online, mostly all companies had implemented WFH and work is going smoothly. As people are at home, they are spending more time on recreation. Peoples are coming up with new ideas. They have come,m9k7 up with 5889the solutions of keeping themselves in pace. In this time IT Sector has proved to be very big support for them and other sectors. Not only does it help connect sellers and customers on mobile and web platforms, but also enable effective management of customer orders, deliveries, returns and payments for purchased goods. COVID 19 has strengthened IT sector and became a base for the evolution of new technologies. This technology is going to evolve as the backbone of e-commerce. - BhumikaSisodiya CI, II Year

Green Computing

Computing devices, undeniably, have become an inseparable part of our lives. These devices require rare earth metals in their production and energy for their working, hence have a high carbon footprint. Climate change becoming a more pressing matter than ever, we must take severe measures to make our lives more sustainable. Green computing is a measure that we can take, by ourselves, to reduce the environmental impact by those devices. Green computing is defined as the study of designing, engineering, and manufacturing, using and disposing of computing devices in a way that reduces their environmental impact. Colloquially stating, it is sustainable and eco-friendly use of computers and their resources. Green computing aims to attain economic viability and improve the way computing devices are used. Green IT practices emphasize the development of environmentally sustainable production practices, energy-efficient computers and improved disposal and recycling procedures. Here are some tips that can not only help the planet but will also help you save some money. TURN IT OFF: Even when we put our devices on sleep mode they consume energy, therefore it is advised to turn off our devices when not in use. BUY GREEN: If you are planning to buy new hardware choose an energy star rated product as they consume less energy. KILL THE SCREEN SAVER: Screen saver uses more energy, that too for no apparent reason. Use optimal brightness level to conserve power. UPGRADE: Don't discard your computing devices rather upgrade them. USE CLOUD SERVICES: Rather than purchasing a new pen drive or external hard disk, shift your data to cloud services. PRINT SMART: Print only if needed and print on both sides. Use emails instead. In the end, it is important to acknowledge that every little effort matters in this fight against climate change. Making a deliberate effort to make minor changes in our lives can change the world. MedhaKasture CS 3rd Year 84

The free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till the current ends and dips his wings in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing The caged bird sings with fearful trill of the things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom The free bird thinks of another breeze and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees and the fat worms waiting on a dawn - bright lawn and he names the sky his own But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom
