  • Midnight Special Songlist
west coast music Midnight Special Please find attached the Midnight Special song list for your review. SPECIAL DANCES for Weddings: Please note that we will need your special dance requests, (I.E. First Dance, Father/Daughter Dance, Mother/Son Dance etc) FOUR WEEKS in advance prior to your event so that we can confirm that the band will be able to perform the song(s) and that we are able to locate sheet music. In some cases where sheet music is not available or an arrangement for the full band is need- ed, this gives us the time needed to properly prepare the music and learn the material. Clients are not obligated to send in a list of general song requests. Many of our clients ask that the band just react to whatever their guests are responding to on the dance floor. Our clients that do provide us with song requests do so in varying degrees. Most clients give us a handful of songs they want played and avoided. Recently, we’ve noticed in increase in cli- ents customizing what the band plays and doesn’t play with very specific detail. If you de- sire the highest degree of control (allowing the band to only play within the margin of songs requested), we ask for a minimum of 100 requests. We want you to keep in mind that the band is quite good at reading the room and choosing songs that best connect with your guests. The more specific/selective you are, know that there is greater chance of losing certain song medleys, mashups, or newly released material the band has.

  • Liminality, Marginality and Narrative Mode in David Belbin's Fiction
What We Don’t Know: Liminality, Marginality and Narrative Mode in David Belbin’s Fiction DAVID LAWRENCE BELBIN A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements of Nottingham Trent University for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy March 2016 1 I certify that all of the following material is my own work and the essay consists of original work undertaken solely for the purposes of this PhD. This work is the intellectual property of the owner. You may copy up to 5% of this work for private study, or personal, non-commercial research. Any re- use of the information contained within this document must be fully referenced, quoting the author, title, university, degree level and pagination. Queries or requests for any other use, or if a more substantial copy is required, should be directed to the owner of the intellectual property rights. 2 ABSTRACT This thesis consists of a selection of my published work from 1989-2015, accompanied by an essay and a bibliography. The essay looks at the ways in which I am drawn towards marginal and liminal zones within fiction, including the areas between Young Adult (YA) and Adult fiction, crime fiction and literary fiction, and that between depicting reality and fictionalising it. I also consider the use of narrative mode in defining these liminal areas. By ‘liminal’, I mean occupying a position at, or on both sides of a boundary or threshold, rather than the word’s other, looser sense, where it means ‘vague’. The examples of fiction selected are intended to display the range of my published work since joining Nottingham Trent University.

  • Ava Max Could Always Envision Her Dream, She Actually Went out and Made It a Reality on Her Own
For dreams to manifest into reality, it requires more than a fairytale wish… Truthfully, it takes hustle, heart, and a whole lot of attitude. For as much as Ava Max could always envision her dream, she actually went out and made it a reality on her own. Gathering billions of streams, multiplatinum plaques, award nominations, and acclaim from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and many more, the international phenomenon projects an unbelievable personal journey into a poignant and punchy pop opus on her full-length debut album, Heaven & Hell [APG/Atlantic Records]. “Manifesting is really important to me,” she explains. “I put positive energy into my music. I know what I want to write, and there’s a story behind each song. It’s all about working hard and putting your heart and soul into it.” She started doing so as a kid. Prior to her birth in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ava’s parents emigrated from Albania to the United States. Without speaking a word of English, mom and dad held down three jobs each. However, both parents retained a passion for music. Among her earliest memories, Ava recalls her mother—a classically trained vocalist—singing opera aloud. The family relocated to Virginia where they eventually settled in their first house. Along the way, Ava clung to music, listening to Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Shania Twain, to name a few. “At a very young age, I watched my parents really struggle in America,” she admits. “It was tough, and it impacted me in many ways. However, both of them always told me if they could make it here with no language and no money, then I could make it.” While in Virginia, she dove headfirst into music with the family staunchly behind her.

  • Daisy Take Action Requirements the Daisy Outdoor Journey Consists of Two Badges—Outdoor Art Maker, Buddy Camper—And Three Take Action Meetings
Take Action Outdoor 1 Overview Note to Volunteers: Daisy Take Action Requirements The Daisy Outdoor Journey consists of two badges—Outdoor Art Maker, Buddy Camper—and three Take Action meetings. To complete the Journey, have girls complete the meetings in the following order: • Outdoor Art Maker badge (2 meetings) • Buddy Camper badge (2 meetings) • Take Action (3 meetings) Girls must complete a Take Action project at the end of the Daisy Outdoor Journey. Get Help for Take Action There are three Take Action meetings—one for planning, one for creating and carrying out a project, and one for awards and celebration. Look for this helpful Take Action Guide in the Meeting Aids resources section: • Girl Scout Volunteer Take Action Guide: Find out the difference between community service and a Take Action project, steps for a Take Action project, how to make a project sustainable, and ways girls can Take Action. Make the Most of the Take Action Meetings Use the talking points (but make them your own): In each session, you’ll find suggested talking points under the heading “SAY.” Some volunteers, especially new ones, find it helpful to follow the script. Others use the talking points as a guide and deliver the information in their own words. Either way is just fine. Add an extra meeting: The meetings are each designed for 60 minutes. It’s perfectly OK to add a meeting to your Outdoor Journey plan if you feel girls need more time completing the Take Action project. Use Girl Scouts’ three processes: Girl-Led, Learning By Doing, Cooperative Learning—these three processes are the key to making sure girls have fun in Girl Scouts and keep coming back.

The 35 students attended a large urban high school comprised of 60 percent Puerto Rican students, 20 percent African American, and the remainder White, Asian, and other. Qualitative methods were used to examine the perceptions of students, teachers, staff, and administrators concerning academic achievement. The study found that achievement and underachievement are not disparate concepts, since many students who underachieved had previously achieved at high levels and some generally high achieving students experienced periods of underachievement. A network of high achieving friends was characteristic of achieving students. No relationships were found between poverty and underachievement, between parental divorce and underachievement, or between family size and underachievement.
