The birth of HCASC marked the creation of varsity scholar teams and official academic competitions at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The goal is to support the unique mission of America’s HBCUs and to emphasize the belief that knowledge is our most valuable resource. Knowledge enriches us BY THE personally and opens our eyes, minds and hearts to the possibilities the world NUMBERS presents. It reinforces the ideal behind Honda’s motto, The Power of Dreams. 125,000 Honda’s commitment to HCASC expresses its belief that success isn’t measured Students have competed in HCASC solely by the products we make, but also by the lives enhanced. 10,000 HCASC is an entertaining game of outstanding intellect and quick recall. Some of our accomplishments are related to programs, such as education, we’ve offered for decades. Thanks to the School of Education and Psychology, award winning teachers (alumni) are recognized annually at the Elizabeth City Chamber of Commerce’s Teacher of the Year Ceremony. Other accom- plishments stem from new, signature programs—programs developed in response to the nation/state’s demand for more professionals in select fields of study. In sports, we continue to excel in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Coach Shawn Walker (’94) is the 2008 CIAA Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year. Lady Viking Celeste Trahan, became the first women in NCAA Division II history to tally 2,000 points and 1,500 rebounds in a career. She was also named the 2008 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Year, the 2008 Daktronics South Atlantic Regional Player of the Year, the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year; and for the second consecutive year, the CIAA Women’s Player of the Year.

President for Dr. Warrick has held leadership and faculty positions as tenured full professor of Pharmacy, Finance dean and chief research officer at Elizabeth City State University; associate professor and director of Environmental and Occupational Health at Florida A&M University; and, assistant professor in the Division of Management, Policy and Community Health at the University of Texas School of Public Health, Center for Health, Promotion and Prevention Research.

    Alabama Ghana Virtual Symposium — Bios PROFESSOR JAMES T. DALTON Provost of The University of Alabama Dr. James T. Dalton, Ph.D. is the Executive Vice President and Provost of The University of Alabama. Provost Dalton comes to UA as the former Dean and Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati (1986) and Doctor of Philosophy in pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical chemistry from Ohio State University (1990). Dean Dalton rose through the faculty ranks in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee (1992-2000) before returning to Ohio State where he served as Professor and Chair in the Division of Pharmaceutics (2000-2007). He began an entrepreneurial leave of absence from Ohio State in 2005 and finally left OSU in 2007 to devote his full time effort as Chief Scientific Officer at GTx, Inc. in Memphis, TN (2007-2014) where he oversaw the preclinical and clinical development of selective androgen receptor modulators, which he will be talking about today. He was recently elected to the National Academy of Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). He has co-authored over 300 original abstracts and peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and is an inventor on over 400 United States and international patent applications related to selective androgen receptor modulators, selective estrogen receptor alpha and beta ligands, tubulin antagonists, and receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
