PAS: Infighting not reason for bigger loss MalaysiaKini.com Sept 26, 2014 P KUBOR Faced with a bigger loss at the Pengkalan Kubor by-election, PAS insists that it is not due to infighting within the party. PAS by-election director Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said that neither is it caused by the absence of top Pakatan Rakyat leaders during campaign. "Overall, the absence of Pakatan leaders, especially DAP wasn't a big deal. It's not a factor. "It's just internal polemics about what happened. If we look at it, everyone went to ground (to campaign). "The matter of (internal) problems did not arise. I accept what happened," he said during a press conference after BN's victory was announced. PAS' Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim (right) lost to BN by 2,635 votes - an addition of 899 votes to the majority BN garnered at last year's general election. Tuan Ibrahim, nevethless, admitted that today's result had a big impact on PAS as it lost by a wider margin. "I am sad of course, but we have strived, perservered, and are resigned to fate," he said. BN's Mat Razi Mat Ismail had received 9,961 votes, PAS 7,326, while the Independent candidate won 37 votes. In 13th general elections, BN's Noor Zahidi had beaten PKR's Saharun Ibrahim and independent Izat Bukhary with a majority of 1,736 votes. BN goodies to blame Instead, Tuan Ibrahim blamed PAS' lost on handouts by BN to poor constituents. "Among the poor, such big handouts might be a factor.

Pakatan vs BN: 12,000 turn to prayer Malaysiakini.com January 10, 2011 In a show of force, some 12,000 PAS members turned up at a special prayer session last night to seek divine intervention 'to save the country from BN'. They also prayed that Pakatan Rakyat will be able to overcome the turmoil in Selangor and in the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trial. "We are together with Selangor Menteri Besar (Abdul) Khalid Ibrahim in defending (the state) against BN," said PAS vice-president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, who opened the session held at the Melawati Stadium in Shah Alam. The event began at around 7pm with those assembled performing Maghrib prayers together, after which PAS deputy spiritual advisor Harun Din delivered a talk. The special prayer session followed the Isyak prayers led by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang. Those who attended included Anwar, Khalid, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, Shah Alam parliamentarian Khalid Samad, PAS deputy president Nasharuddin Md Isa. "This prayer is to Allah to save our country, to solve the problems plaguing Selangor and the attacks against Anwar in the sodomy trial, as well as to give us victory in the upcoming general election," according to an announcement. PAS spiritual advisor Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat was delayed enroute but was wheeled into the stadium in a wheelchair after the prayer, arriving to the rousing cheers and shouts of "Takbir" from the crowd. The floor was packed with 5,000 people - mainly PAS members - while thousands of others followed the session from seats in the gallery above.

  • PKR Welcomes New S'gor PAS Leadership Malaysiakini.Com June 13, 2011
PKR welcomes new S'gor PAS leadership Malaysiakini.com June 13, 2011 The new PAS leadership is the reflection of the party's grassroots and the result of their desire for the party's renewal. Saying this today, Selangor PKR, also described the Islamist party's new lineup as “bad news” for Selangor Umno in its attempt to wrest the state from Pakatan Rakyat. It also welcomed incoming Selangor PAS chief Dr Abdul Rani Osman as someone who could serve to bring about a second “nightmare” for Selangor Umno following that party's dismal performance in March, 2008. “... At one point, they (Umno) had extended the hand of 'unity', the 'sincerity' of which the rakyat know very well. This change is the beginning of the end that has been written (for Umno)!” said Selangor PKR information chief Shuhaimi Shafiei (above) in a statement. “This appointment (of Abdul Rani) will give a great impact to the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat partners due to his rapport with Selangor PKR leadership and the frontline leadership of Selangor DAP,” said Shuhaimi, who is also Sri Muda state representative. Abdul Rani is also Meru state legislator. Shuhaimi's remarks follow the announcement of PAS' national lineup for 2011-2013 following the party polls it held slightly more than one week ago. It was announced yesterday that Mustafa Ali (right) has been reappointed as PAS secretary-general for his second term, and the appointment of three vice-secretary-generals in the persons of Takiyudin Hasan, Syed Azman Syed Ahmad Nawawi and Ahmad Sabki Yusof. These were made known yesterday by party president Abdul Hadi Awang after chairing the party's central working committee meeting at the party's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

  • Ahmad Maslan: Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Not RM2.6B Donor Malaysiakini.Com Sept 7Th , 2015
Ahmad Maslan: Saudi prince Al-Waleed not RM2.6b donor MalaysiaKini.com Sept 7th , 2015 Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Ahmad Maslan has clarified that Saudi Arabian prince Al-Waleed Talal was not the person who donated RM2.6 billion to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak two years ago. Based on his tweets yesterday, Ahmad said he was misquoted by the press, specifically online news portal Free Malaysia Today (FMT) and My Times. The deputy minister said that he only mentioned the Saudi prince as an example. “I wish to refer to the FMT and My Times report claiming that Al Waleed bin Talal (photo) gave RM2.6b. The Kota Kinabalu source quoted is wrong. “I was merely giving an example by referring to the fact that the Saudi Prince announced that he wished to donate RM120b beginning 1/7/15. I did not say that it was he who gave the donation to the prime minister. “The example was given because there are people who are asking who would donate RM2.6b. Well, it seems that there are people prepared to donate even RM120b," he said in a series of tweets after the reports were published yesterday. FMT took down the incorrect article FMT in its report yesterday said Ahmad had, when speaking at a seminar and dialogue session in Kota Kinabalu, identified Al-Waleed as being the donor. The portal then took down the incorrect article shortly after Ahmad clarified his statement. "Following the denial by the Deputy Minister, and upon realising that we had misinterpreted his remarks, we took down the incorrect article.

Commentary THE MOST intense internal struggle for the soul of PAS ended with the ulama or cleric class discovering the limits to how far they can go in determining the future of PAS. Delegates to the just-concluded party polls who were initially expected to sweep away the non-ulamas in their first test since the recent general election, stunned with their independent-mindedness. They voted in a new leadership that forced the ulama to stick to the proven partnership with the non-ulama. Their message was clear: a symbiotic relationship between the ulama and non-ulama is a winning formula for PAS as it aspires to be a national party that appeals to a wider multi-ethnic electorate.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat RUJUKAN KAMI: SUA2014/SKR/0050 A-1-09, Merchant Square RUJUKAN ANDA: - No. 1, Jalan Tropicana Selatan 1 47410 Petaling Jaya TARIKH: 4 Ogos 2014 TELEFON: +603 7885 0530 FAKS: +603 7885 0531 E-MAIL: [email protected] YBhg Dato’ Mustafa Ali LAMAN WEB: www.keadilanrakyat.org Setiausaha Agung Parti Islam Se-Malaysia Pejabat Agung No 318-A Jalan Raja Laut 50350 Kuala Lumpur YBhg Dato’, PENCALONAN YB DATO’ SERI DR WAN AZIZAH WAN ISMAIL SEBAGAI MENTERI BESAR SELANGOR Saya mendoakan perjuangan kita terus mendapat petunjuk dan rahmat Allah SWT demi harapan rakyat yang kita pikul bersama.
