Charlotte student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom. The Department achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.020 in the fall and 3.037 in the spring. For the fall 2017 semester, 216 (56%) student-athletes received academic honors (3.0 and higher for the semester), and 215 (57%) earned honors for the spring 2018 semester. 69 student-athletes were named to the Chancellor’s List by earning GPAs of 3.8 and higher for the fall semester, and 56 made the list for the spring semester. 44 student-athletes had perfect 4.0s in the fall, and 45 earned 4.0s in the spring. Twelve of the 16 teams had cumulative team GPAs over 3.0 in fall 2017, and eleven of the 16 teams had cumulative team GPAs over 3.0 in spring 2018. For the fifth straight year, annual donations to the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation have surpassed $2 million, coming in at over 2.4 million. Annual donations are received through four main entities: the Annual Giving Campaign, the “Let Me Play” Luncheon, the 49er Club Golf Outing and the Great Gold Rush Auction. The spring semester highlights the Athletic Foundation's efforts. The 49er Club Golf Outing is traditionally held in April, the Great Gold Rush Auction is held in June, and the Annual Giving Campaign concludes with the end of the fiscal year on June 30. Annual donations do not include monies raised through capital gifts or other restricted giving donations. Total contributions to the Athletic Foundation in 2017-2018 were $5.013 million.
