El presente texto tocará una visión analítica de la problemática de producción en el Perú para un género tan universal como lo es la ciencia ficción, a su vez revisará consecutivamente los pormenores del porvenir contextual de la ciencia ficción como género en el mundo, criterios estilísticos de la misma, definiciones, y consideraciones temáticas, adentrándonos en la historia anecdótica de la ciencia ficción, en Latinoamérica también. Por último, la investigación reciclará estos conceptos y reflexiones, y permitirá esclarecer algunos patrones en la historia nacional de las producciones de este tipo. Palabras claves: visión; contextual; ciencia ficción; universal; estilísticos; definiciones; género 3 Film Production of Science Fiction in Peru: The vision of the audience and filmmakers in Peru, on the lack of science fiction as a cinematographic genre in the national panorama, and how this lack is related to the preset discourses on the treatment of gender in our country. ABSTRACT The vision of viewers and filmmakers, alike, in the context of the lack of science fiction as a film genre in Peru, and the theories behind Latin American filmmaker cinematographic interests. This text will consecutively provide a greater understanding of science fiction as a cinematographic gender in Peru. It will explain the details of Peruvian science fiction production within the last three decades. My work will explore several characteristics and definitions regarding the true “meaning” of science fiction (and its global conceptions). It will conclude with a few thoughts that will put some light on the matter by discovering the causes and effects of the phenomenon. Between the years of 1930 and 1961, Trujillo carefully positioned himself at the center of all things Dominican— including the island’s cultural and intellectual discourse. From the beginning of Trujillo’s political career, the dictator’s team of spin-doctors, carefully selected from among the Dominican intelligentsia systematically, exploited the media, poetry, prose narrative, and even popular music to construct a public persona that would eventually grow to mythological proportions. Given the trujillato’s notorious use of literature in mythologizing Trujillo, it is hardly surprising that, in the years immediately following his death, Dominican writers would also employ narrative in their efforts to de/re-mythologize him.

McFarland. 2005. A brief look at the major trends in the history of the national cinema of Peru suggests that the relationship between the development of the moving image and the onset of modernity in that country has always been awkward. Many have argued that the advent of cinema coincided in most parts of the world with the decades when modernity was already ‘at full throttle . a watershed moment in which a series of sweeping changes in technology and culture created distinctive new modes of thinking about and experiencing time and space’.1 However, the reality for the majority of Latin American countries was quite different. As Ana M. López points out, it simply is not possible to link the rise of cinema in that part of the world to ‘previous large-scale transformations of daily experience resulting from urbanization, industrialization, rationality and the technological transformation of modern life’.2 Such developments were only just starting to emerge, so that as cinema was launched across the world, modernity in Latin America ‘was above all a fantasy and a profound desire.’3 Nevertheless, the arrival of cinema in Peru was, it appears, warmly welcomed by the elite of Lima, who greeted it as the very incarnation of the modernity to which they aspired.
