Recycling is mandatory the local choice

Why recycle household items? • According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 75% of what goes into U.S. landfilles can be recycled • Sioux Falls has a mandatory ordinance designed to hlp lenghten the life of our landfill and save you money on waste disposal costs

This is a list of all the items that can be recycled and placed together in one bin as comingled: • All , #1 – #6 (these can be no larger than a 5 gallon bucket) • Tin cans, steel cans and alluminum canse (these need to be rinsed and free of food) • and (these cannot be windows, mirrors, glassware or ceramics) • Clean aluminum foil and trays • All , including: newspaper, magazines, catalogs, phone books, junk mail, white or pastel office paper, shredded paper (contained in a clear ) and paper . • Flattened, corregated cardboard and chipboard, such as cereal (these must be clean and no food or grease present) • Empty aerosol cans • Cardboard egg cartrons

Below is a list of items we cannot accept: • Tissues, napkins and paper towels • Recyclables in sacks w/ exception of plastic sacks and shredded paper • Wood • Books (We can recycle them separately) • Toys • Scrap metal • Paper-ream wrappers • Plastics other than those listed • Brown or orange • VCR tapes, CDs and CD cases • Styrofoam or paper to-go containers • Wax paper and (ice cream, milk or juice) • Electronics • Mirrors, ceramics, light bulbs and window glass • Loose shredded paper • Hazardous or bio-hazard waste • Diapers • Tyvek® envelopes • Food contaminated paper or cardboard • Needles and syringes • Yard hoses • or sheets of • Wire spiral binding • Food • Large metal clips
