Ian Taylor grew up in Oldham, attended Hulme Grammar School and Lancaster University. His Dad died in April 1991, just before Ian’s final exams at Lancaster. Ian got into events management in its infancy.

He recalled: “I grew up in an entrepreneurial family. Business and family were everything and were intertwined. I went to Hulme Prep School and then Hulme Grammar School. I didn't know it was a 'posh' school or different until I became a teenager.

“My dad left school aged 14. He thought he did fairly well in life but always thought he would have done better with a decent education. So, he sent me to Hulme. Today I've got fond memories of school and still have friends and business associates from Hulme.
