2. The most popular show in the industry

Customer-satisfactions surveys show that the Paris Air Show is the most popular air show amongst visitors and exhibitors. The SIAE has carried out customer satisfaction surveys with visitors (trade and general public) and exhibitors since 2007. In 2015, 98% of visitors were satisfied (40% of whom were very satisfied), a number that has continued to rise since 2007.

Why is the show so popular? Because the Paris Air Show is a unique event in terms of its size and diversity:

 it brings together all players in the world aerospace industry  it offers a large number of flying displays with great visibility  it offers trade professionals the opportunity to present their products and expertise in the best conditions, to trade visitors as well as the general public  it is always oriented towards young people, jobs and training (free entry for students that have booked in advance on Friday 23 June - Careers Plane - Jobs and Training Forum)  Lastly, the show has made improving its exhibitor and visitor services a priority (significant investment in setting up the exhibition centre, digitalizing processes, provision of new high-performance tools, etc.)

Outside the show, the large number of events organized by exhibitors and the immediate proximity to Paris also contribute to making the show a unique experience.

4. Our CSR Approach

Since 2007 the SIAE has followed an ambitious and innovative Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy structured around three main objectives:

1. To welcome participants in the show in the best conditions of health, safety and comfort. 2. To understand and control the environmental impact of the construction and the running of the show. 3. To equip participants with the tools they need to participate in the show's sustainable development initiative.

These objectives are developed across 15 operational sites and ensured by a sustainable development management system. The SIAE's CSR initiative was also ISO 20 121 certified in 2013 (after the London Olympic Games in 2012) and again in 2016. The Bourget exhibition centre has also been ISO 20 121 certified since June 2014 (www.viparis.com).

ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS The SIAE aims to set up concrete actions whilst strengthening its joint approach with all participants: exhibitors, visitors, service providers, local residents, internal collaborators, etc. The show's CSR initiative involves all actors affected directly or indirectly by the SIAE. Every participant plays a role in the CSR initiative through two complementary objectives: reduction of the environmental and societal impact of its activity and sharing of its goals, needs and issues in terms of CSR.

HEALTH, SAFETY, COMFORT: THE SIAE'S 3 PRIORITIES Adhering to legislation regarding the wearing of Personal Protection Equipment (e.g. safety shoes, gloves, helmets, glasses, etc.), implementation of a work hub and a traffic campaign to reduce the risk of accident, provision of a rest area for all staff, a low-cost canteen, encouragement of local employment through a skills centre for recruiting staff via Adecco93: the SIAE's health/safety/comfort resource is one of the cornerstones of its CSR initiative.

International Paris Air Show 2017 Press kit (Version 11/06/17) 10

ACCESSIBILITY, A PRIORITY FOR THE 2017 EDITION 2015 was the year in which the law of February 2005 came into effect. In accordance with this legislation, the SIAE has carried out an "accessibility" audit of the show every year since 2013. An action plan (2015-2019) was set up to respond to all goals related to accessibility. For example, reception staff will be trained on the reception of people with disabilities, a special phone number will be available to participants, and two golf-carts will be available solely for transporting people with disabilities on site. Exhibitors are also encouraged to take an active role in analysing the accessibility of their stand and chalet.

NEW PRACTICES FOR REDUCING IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT Like most major shows, the SIAE is a large consumer of carpets (almost 40,000 m2). As part of the CSR initiative, the management department decided in 2015 to replace (disposable) carpet rolls with reusable carpet tiles. In addition to reducing waste, this carpet, used in 0.5 x 0.5 m tiles, offers increased visitor comfort. This action also reduces the show's carbon footprint by almost 80 tCO2e, the equivalent of one French person's emissions over 80 years. Another example is the RE-USE resource designed to collect the construction material and furniture exhibitors don't want to take with them, to encourage recycling via manufacturers (for certain floor and ceiling coverings) and associations in the Paris region (for construction material and furniture). This resource, which is available to all exhibitors, is set up in partnership with two manufacturers (Armstrong and LTi). The SIAE's CSR initiative is constantly evolving. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, please write to: [email protected]. In order to encourage the use of environmentally-friendly material during production of exhibitor sites, the SIAE has also set up a partnership with the Fédération Française des Métiers de l’Evénement et de l’Exposition "Crealians", in the form of the AMAT resource library. This resource library is a database offering a selection of environmentally- friendly material that can be used for exhibitor areas, available online. Lastly, the SIAE provides a resource for the collection and disposal of waste during set-up and running that exhibitors, decorators and service providers must strictly respect.

YOUNG PEOPLE AT THE SHOW

1. The Careers Plane - Jobs and Training Forum The GIFAS offers a space dedicated to professions, training and employment in the aerospace, air transport and national defence industries.

Under the theme "Travel to the heart of excellence", the 2017 edition will give an exclusive overview of the sector. Inside a 3,000 m2 area, visitors will be invited to discover this pioneering industry through an immersive and educational journey.

Two complementary areas are accessible: - the Careers Plane, an area for demos and discussions given by professionals in the sector - the Jobs and Training Forum, an area for meeting recruitment managers from business and teaching establishments

 The Careers Plane Organized around a central island, offering video immersion in the different professions, visitors will be able to meet men and women who work in the aeronautics sector on a daily basis.

International Paris Air Show 2017 Press kit (Version 11/06/17) 14

This represents a unique opportunity to meet those who design, produce, sell and maintain aircraft, and also to see and touch the finished product, from the engine to the blade of a helicopter, via a plane seat or an altimeter. Various discussion formats are available: - Demos where professionals can be seen in almost real conditions and sometimes even allow visitors the chance to touch devices. - Short conferences, in small groups, where the speaker shares their career path, daily life at work and the projects they are working on with a dozen participants.

Spread across three large themed spaces: Design, R&D; Industrialization and Production; and Support, Sales and Maintenance. Almost a hundred professionals will meet throughout the week to introduce visitors to the show to the trade chain in aeronautics. In total, almost forty different professions will be presented, illustrating the diversity of the sector. This enables visitors to meet, in turn, a test flight engineer, an industrial project manager, a radar operator, a Big Data engineer, a composite technician or even an mechanic.

At the Jobs and Training Forum, visitors can also find out about the training and offers available for the professions they're interested in

2. The Rocketry Challenge

Taking a fun approach to science, the GIFAS, working with the Planète Sciences association, has created a programme to promote the aerospace industry to young people. At a time where the press and our professions are widely publicizing the difficulties experienced in recruiting engineers, this initiative aims to provide a response, with almost 400 young people (60 teams) involved in the project every year. The Rocketry Challenge is an opportunity to develop international cooperation between the industrial associations AIA (US), ADS (UK), GIFAS (FR), and SJAC (JP) by creating an informal dialogue that promotes close ties. The international final of the Rocketry Challenge will be held during the show at the Bourget site on the morning of Friday 23 June. It will bring together teams of 3 to 10 students (aged 12-18) who won the competition at a national level: United States, United Kingdom, Japan and France. The competition will involve firing mini-rockets to an altitude of 230 m, loaded with two raw eggs and a parachute braking tool for the descent. The eggs must arrive in one piece! Participants will be judged on the quality of the shot (altitude and time), the condition of the eggs and the presentation of the project before a jury. HISTORY

The International Paris Air Show is the oldest worldwide event dedicated to this sector. Even at its first edition in 1909 the air show was already an international event. Thanks to the emulation between the major players present, it has contributed to numerous technical and technological advances. The Paris Air Show has, since its creation, been at the very heart of the evolution of the international aerospace market, of which it has over the years been a privileged witness.

Some key dates:

1908: An aeronautics exhibition annexed to the 2nd Paris Motor Show is held at the Grand Palais.

1909: The first show dedicated entirely to aviation at the Grand Palais is designed by André Granet and Robert Esnault-Pelterie. This show is then held every year until 1924, with a break during World War I from 1913 to 1919.

1924: The 9th edition of the Aviation Show is marked by the visit of foreign constructors (mainly British and German). It is also from this date that the show begins being held only every two years (it is again put on hold during the Second World War).

1927: Charles Lindbergh lands at the Le Bourget airport during the first non-stop flight from New York to Paris. The airport becomes the most famous in the world, particularly in the United States.

1946: The first flight demonstrations are held during the 17th Aviation Show at Orly Airport.

1951: The Le Bourget Airport becomes France's second most important airport, specializing in business aviation. Its low traffic enables it to begin hosting the Paris Air Show.

1969: The Air Show takes on a truly international dimension with 14 countries represented. This is also the year that Concorde and the Boeing 747 are presented.

1971: 17 nations are present. The Mirage G8 is presented.

1973: The European Airbus is presented.

1975: The Museum of Air is set up at the Bourget Airport. That same year, 20 different nations are present at the show.

1977: A Mirage F1, in full-size Plexiglas, is presented.

1979: The year the Ariane rocket is presented. The number of nations represented rises to 26.

1983: The American Space Shuttle "Enterprise" is presented, perched on a Boeing 747.

1989: The USSR presents its Antonov 225, the largest plane in the world. It is displayed supporting the Russian space shuttle Buran.

1991: The models employed for the Gulf War, the A10, Jaguar and Patriot Missile are the stars of the show. This is also the year of the presentation of the American stealth aircraft the F117.

1993: The Airbus A340 breaks the world record for distance, travelling from Paris-Le Bourget to Auckland (New Zealand).

1995: A record number of 41 countries are represented. The grand premiere of many aircraft, including the B2, the Boeing 777 and the X31.

1997: More record numbers: 1,860 exhibitors from 46 countries and some 230 planes.

1999: New record number of exhibitors: 1,895 from 41 nations and presentation of 204 aircraft, including the Proteus, the Beriev 200 and the Antonov 70. UAV-Drones are showcased for the first time at the show. The outdoor space grows to 192,000 m².

2001: Record visitors: more than 300,000 registered visitors.

2003: The Year of the Centennial of Flight and the Fiftieth Anniversary of the first International Paris Air Show at the Bourget airport.

2005: 46th International Paris Show, with the first presentation of the at the show.

2007: The 47th International Paris Air Show confirms its importance as the no.1 world air show with 2,000 exhibitors. Creation of the first Business and Technology Meetings.

2009: The Air Show celebrates its 100th birthday. For the occasion, 40 vintage planes are exhibited. Worldwide exclusive for the Sukhoï SuperJet 100 and, for the first time at the show, a flying display of a drone helicopter: the Schiebel Camcopter.
