It has a population of 8389 Hecklegirth Primary School 238 with 4 primary schools and 1 secondary school. It is located on the B721 which is parallel with and St Columbas Primary School 58 linked to the nearby A74(M) and A75, and on the Curruthertown Primary School 26 Carlisle to Glasgow train route. The town contains a number of facilities including a busy high street Cummertrees Primary School 41 that is home to a variety of shops, museum, library, Brydekirk Primary School 33 leisure facilities, 5 churches, hotels and B&B’s. Eastriggs, Dornock and Creca has a population Secondary Schools of 1840 and is located on the B721 which is Annan Academy School 795 parallel with and linked to the nearby A74(M) and A75, and on the Carlisle to Glasgow train route, Customer Service Centres although no station currently exists. Eastriggs has Annan Customer Service Centre a small number of shops, post office, library, public Annan Registry Office house and church along with a primary school Eastriggs Customer Services Centre that feeds into Annan Academy. Eastriggs was a planned village built during the 1st World War Annan Library in 1915 to accommodate workers in munitions factories and is known as the Commonwealth Burial Grounds Village with many of the streets being named after Annan cities in the Commonwealth. Cummertrees Cummertrees and Cummertress West have Dalton a population of 644 and include the settlements Dornock of Newbie and Powfoot. Cummertrees is a rural, primarily residential village and is bounded by Annan, the Solway Firth, Ruthwell and Dalton. Cummertrees Primary School is situated on the outskirts of the village and feeds into Annan Academy. Ruthwell and Clarencefield is a typical estate village which was built to service the nearby Comlongon Castle and was the accommodation for its employees and their families. It is situated on the B724 7 miles from Annan and has a population of 400. Dalton and Carrutherstown has a combined population of 357. Carrutherstown is a small village situated on the A75 eight miles south-east of Dumfries and seven miles from Annan. Within the village there is a primary school, Hetland Hall Hotel and Dino Land, which is a tourist attraction that brings many visitors into the area on an annual basis. Dalton is a small settlement 4 miles south of Lockerbie with an 18th-century church. Dalton has a Thai restaurant, a pub and a well-used village hall.
