The Isla Vista Community Council voted Monday night to ignore the recommendations of the Peace Commission and keep up the controversial automobile barrier on Pardall and Camino Pescadero until their master traffic plan is devised in four months. DAILY After a week of discussion with businessmen, the Peace Commisssion recommended to remove the barrier simply because it created so much controversy and was straining a working relationship with I.V. businessmen. EDITORIAL: Your opinions are needed In an effort to ensure a reasonably balanced editorial page, the NEXUS has attempted since last spring to encourage individuals from a wide variety of viewpoints to contribute regular opinion columns. Formal invitations were extended to many political and ethnic organizations as well as to individuals. Notices welcoming opinion columns from all socio-political persuasions have been run on the editorial pages in recent weeks. However, with the exception of one or two individuals, no one has come forth. In this particular academic community it would seem that there would be a wealth of views to be expressed. The NEXUS is well aware o f the role it should play in this regard. Every opportunity has been given to those who wish to write opinion columns to do so. However, if particular viewpoints do not appear in the Beware the Bicuspid Bike Snatcher NEXUS, it is only because no one in this community wishes to express them.
