The album was recorded on 2” analogue tape in Los Angeles at Studio 606 and East West Studio 3, with additional recording taking place at his barn. It also features special guests in the shape of Luther Dickinson (NMAS) and Malcolm Arison of The BossHoss, who lets loose on a number of tracks, but most notably with a ferocious harmonica solo on ‘Church Of Me’.

The resulting record ﬁnds Seasick Steve mixing up all of his much-loved ingredients to deliver a fresh new record that offers the perfect antidote for the troubled times in which we live. Full of hope for the future, it’s a great mix of boogie, blues, rock, Americana and folk – all delivered in his unique style.

“We didn’t think about the logistics. We just cared about getting like-minded people working on something to see through our vision.” Gone Is Gone is a new band, but it’s not. It began a few years back, a joint project by movie trailer composer Mike Zarin and composer/drummer Tony Hajjar of At The Drive-In. Introduced by a mutual friend, the pair first joined forces to create film music for Zarin’s music production company, Sencit. It was instrumental music intended for film trailers— music that was very well received within the industry. So much so that they recorded more, which was equally well-received. “We started just writing,” recalls Zarin. “And we expanded the style—within some sort of sub-genre—and we had this one particular song that people kept using. Then they started asking us for more like this song. And we were like, ‘We think we stumbled onto a sound here.’

They brought in guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, a friend of Hajjar’s who’s known for his work with Queens Of The Stone Age, A Perfect Circle, Failure, Sweethead, and much more. “We played him the music we’d been doing,” says Zarin. “‘We want to start a band like this,’ we told him. ‘Let’s do this.’” “And he’s like, ‘Cool, man, that sounds awesome.’” Then the finishing touch: the addition of Troy Sanders, bassist and vocalist for multi-Grammy nominees Mastodon. “He was on board right away,“ says Zarin.

As Troy Sanders has said in interviews, "nobody in Gone is Gone needs another band," but they seem to continue to find the small gaps of time to create together or separately. With so many reasons not to do the project, they have always found ways of never giving up on it.
