THE COACH: The reigning USCHO.com National Coach of the Year, Scott Sandelin is beginning his 19th season behind the UMD bench where he has compiled a 340-301-86 overall record -- including a 93-56-19 mark (a .610 winning percentage) since the 2014-15 opener. Besides capturing the school’s first two NCAA championships (2011 and 2018), his Bulldogs have won 21 or more games in seven of the last 10 seasons while finishing below the .500 mark just one time over that stretch. Overall, they’ve advanced to eight NCAA tournaments (2004, 2009, 2011,2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), including the last four in a row (a program record),four NCAA Frozen Fours (2004, 2017-18 NCAA Champions • 2010-11 NCAA Champions • 2017-18 and 2016-17 NCAA West Regional Champions • 5 Hobey Baker Memorial Award Winners 2011, 2017 and 2018) and three NCHC Frozen Fa- ceoff tourneys (2016 , 2017 -- when UMD won it all The Numbers on Sandelin -- and 2018).
