This past year has presented itself as one that none of us will ever forget. The pandemic, launch of the Bronco, and the Presidential election were just some of the hottest topics throughout 2020. The pandemic continues to affect the local monthly meetings for both the regular membership and the retirees. I am still amazed that it will almost be a full year since we held a meeting! The leadership is constantly watching to see when the local can resume all of the meetings and events. As soon as we are able to safely hold a meeting, we will notify everyone. I ask that everyone continues to wear their masks, wash or sanitize your hands frequently, and practice social distancing. Even though there is a possible vaccine, we all need to continue to protect ourselves, our co-workers, and especially our families. The Bronco was finally revealed to the public.

1968 Buick Electra 225 owned by Steve Dodson Monthly Newsletter of the St Louis Chapter Buick Club of America Volume XXXVI No. 7 July 2017 Hi All … I hope everyone is having a great summer so far. I am always frank and honest…and this month’s director’s letter is an urgent call for our club to step up and help. Guys and gals… we are in desperate need to sell our trophy classes for the Shriners Benefit Car Show. We are less than 3 months away and have sold only 15 of our 32 classes. Richard Self has volunteered to revisit last GATEWAY GAZETTE 1 year’s contacts made by Doug Stahl, and Mark Kistner is following up on some leads. If we cannot sell these classes, we will not be able to pay for trophies this year. We really need everyone to step up to make this come together. Doug Stahl went to businesses that he frequented regularly… is there a business you visit that may want to contribute? Are your co-workers generous? Maybe have people poll $5.00 each together to sponsor a class. If everyone just asks a few businesses… we will be able to make this come together in time for the show. I have sold three classes and have been busy working on attendance prizes and raffle baskets. On my annual car trip I received verbal confirmation from Mothers and Laid Back for items again this year. I will also be visiting FastLane Cars and EPC Computers next week. September will be here before we know it.

Simone 2 To Michael and Tessa 3 ACKNOWLEDGMENTS A driver fails without the support of a solid team, and I thank my friends, who supported me lap-after-lap. I learned a great deal from my advisor Jack Davis, who when he was not providing helpful feedback on my work, was always willing to toss the baseball around in the park. I must also thank committee members Sean Adams, Betty Smocovitis, Stephen Perz, Paul Ortiz, and Richard Crepeau as well as University of Florida faculty members Michael Bowen, Juliana Barr, Stephen Noll, Joseph Spillane, and Bill Link. I respect them very much and enjoyed working with them during my time in Gainesville. I also owe many thanks to Dr. Julian Pleasants, Director Emeritus of the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program, and I could not have finished my project without the encouragement provided by Roberta Peacock. I also thank the staff of the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program. Finally, I will always be grateful for the support of David Danbom, Claire Strom, Jim Norris, Mark Harvey, and Larry Peterson, my former mentors at North Dakota State University. A call must go out to Tom Schmeh at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, Suzanne Wise at the Appalachian State University Stock Car Collection, Mark Steigerwald and Bill Green at the International Motor Racing Resource Center in Watkins Glen, New York, and Joanna Schroeder at the (former) Ethanol Promotion and Information Council (EPIC).
