Case in point, this is version three of an attempt to write this news journal for the club in December 2020, and the main reason on this struggle? Lack of motivation as a result of getting sick. I realised I caught the flu (real flu – not man flu), and a check in with my Doctor revealed a severe lack of Vitamin D (That’s lack of sunlight) and Vitamin B. In turn with all that going on, I was working 12-hour days, and something had to give. -

Terry’s Travels TT27-1 Dales/Brands/Nurburgring Aug 20th 2008 Just 13 days back in Yorkshire, it was a rush to see family, friends and service Mercie. There was time for a sunny early Sunday am ride into the Yorkshire Dales with my mate Bob - fantastic as ever. We ate breakfast with ‘our age’ cyclists who were doing a 65 mile spin in the hills and dales. Four and a half quid fuels your body for the day.........Bob chose to ride his BMW R1150 and I used the Yamaha that travels on Mercie. My grandsons have a new hobby - its how quick can Breakfast in Dales BMW & Serow they slim Gramps’ wallet?, an overnight in Blackpool doing it all and it was super effective, in fact I would have to go back to work (that’s a dirty word after 18 years) to keep up with them. We were so lucky with weather that allowed us to cruise there and back with the hood down. A family room overnight in the Hilton with breakfast is to be recommended. A day by the river with just ice creams to buy was fun too. With Mercie serviced and provisioned next was World Superbikes at Brands Hatch. Di’s great nephew Tho- mas was delivered to us on the campsite and enjoyed Dan & James at Blackpool all the fun of the fair, wall climbing and quad bike rid- ing before the main race day on Sunday. One of his highlights was to get a T shirt and best of all a sit on the new Ducati, not just any old bike but the 1098 that is proving so successful in this seasons racing. -

ROUNDS 5 & 6 – SALZBURGRING RACE REPORT TITLE FIGHTS HEAT UP AT HALF SEASON The FIA European Touring Car Cup has passed the half-season mark in Austria and the fight for the different titles is heating up. Winning both races in the TC2T class, despite being pushed at the back of the grid for Race 1 following a technical infringement in qualifying, Nikolay Karamyshev has built a 14-point lead ahead of his team mate Igor Skuz who was eliminated by an incident with a slower car. Michal Matějovský and Christian Fischer took one victory apiece in the TC2 class. However, the reigning champion Petr Fulín has stretched his lead to 22 points over his team-mate Matějovský. In the Single-Make Trophy Aku Pellinen pocketed the maximum score of 23 points (two wins plus the pole position), but thanks to a couple of second places Andreas Pfister remains close, only 11 points behind. Gilles Bruckner disrupted Ulrike Krafft’s winning streak that lasted since the season’s opening meeting at Le Castellet. Claiming a double victory in Austria, Bruckner has closed the gap from the German girl to 15 points. Meanwhile, Krafft has built up a solid 39-point lead in the Ladies’ Trophy. RACE 1 – KARAMYSHEV FROM LAST TO FIRST Relegated to last row by a post-qualifying sanction, Nikolay Karamyshev shone in Race 1, charging up through the field and taking a brilliant win. This was slightly facilitated by the incident on lap 8 that eliminated his team-mate and race leader Igor Skuz, who collided with the Fiesta of Ulrike Krafft that was leading the Super 1600. -

Porsche 919 Hybrid Return to top-level sport Porsche is making its comeback to the top-level motorsport arena: with the new 919 Hybrid the sports car brand is sending a platform for pioneering technology to the top category of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the undisputed seasonal highlight of the 24-hour Le Mans race. Porsche's reputation precedes it at this venue: with 16 overall victories under its belt, the brand holds the record for this, the most famous endurance race in the world. In 2014 Porsche is returning to the top-level class endurance race after a 16-year absence - namely Le Mans Prototypes (LMP1). Matthias Müller, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG explains: "The new and revolutionary efficiency regulations for this class were what prompted us to take this step. In 2014 it is not going to be the fastest contender who is going to win the sports car world championship and Le Mans, but the car that gets furthest with the defined amount of energy. And it is precisely this challenge that the automotive industry has to face. The 919 Hybrid is like a high speed research laboratory and the most complex racing car Porsche has ever built." The new WEC regulations for the LMP1 racing car gives engineers an unusual amount of leeway and demands pioneering technology, such as hybridisation, downsizing engines and consistent lightweight construction. This is all particularly relevant for the development of future generations of factory-spec sports cars. Maximum sporting performance and highest efficiency are at the heart of "Porsche Intelligent Performance".
