PERSONAL STATEMENT

At this point in time, I have completed a BA Ceramics Design degree at Central Saint Martins in 2004 and an MA contemporary craft course specialising in ceramics in 2012 at Farnham University for the Creative Arts. I ran a business and ceramic workshop at a National Trust property in Morden Hall Park (5 years of trading), 2005-2010. In 2010, a workshop was built at home to support me during my studies and is now used as a studio to aid my professional practice. I have exhibited in the UK and internationally since 2004, showing works at galleries, museums, pop up events, universities and as part of installation projects. Employment at the Victoria & Albert museum has been experienced as a consultant, tutor and technician for six months during 2009, being the first ceramicist to test pilot the ceramic workshop situated in the ceramic galleries.. I was employed as a ceramic technician at Sutton College, 2005-2016. For the past thirteen years I have worked as a ceramic tutor, teaching adults and family education, with a vast knowledge of techniques experienced. I have completed a DTLLS teaching qualification and achieved QTLS status. I attend a great number of events, training and short courses in relation to continuing professional development. I also completed curriculum management training and was employed to develop and manage the Starkey gallery at Sutton College for 6 months. I was commissioned to write an introduction book for all ages, called 'Make it with Air Dry Clay', published by Lark Crafts in the USA and Search press in the UK. In April 2018, I was appointed as a curriculum manager and then programme leader, responsible for DIY & Woodwork, Floristry, Fashion & Textiles at Sutton College. I have an active role as a London Potter council member, previously organising exhibitions and events for 12 years and contributing articles to the newsletter. I was nominated and elected as the new Chair in October 2017. Recently, I was selected for a public vote by the Craft Potters Association and was elected as the new Associate Representative in October 2018.

These opportunities have furthered my experience as a ceramicist, with mufti- faceted views, skills and roles adopted in relation. As a person I am an enthusiastic, out-going, organized and considerate individual, eager to learn and develop skills continuously. In the future, I aspire to develop my business further, to attend residencies and to continue to exhibit internationally, as well as completing a PhD.
