The last two deliveries of Olympians would feature coach seating. It is seen at Sloper Road depot in March 1983. 501 LBO 501X Leyland ONLXB/1R East Lancs H43/31F Notes Following the 1978 vehicle evaluation mentioned in Part 4, 36 East Lancs bodied Leyland Olympians and 36 Northern Counties-bodied Ailsa B55-10s were ordered. These entered service between 1981 and 1986. 501 (LBO 501X) had a narrow white band above the lower deck windows, forcing the fleet name and crest to be relocated to the lower deck panels.     There and Back Again: Mobilising Tourist Imaginaries at the Tower of London Matthew Hughes Ansell 2014 Dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MA in Cultural Heritage Studies of University College London in 2017 UCL INSTITUTE OF ARCHAEOLOGY ‘Those responsible for the brochure had darkly intuited how easily their readers might be turned into prey by photographs whose power insulted the intelligence and contravened any notions of free will: over-exposed photographs of palm trees, clear skies, and white beaches. Readers who would have been capable of skepticism and prudence in other areas of their lives reverted in contact with these elements to a primordial innocence and optimism. The longing provoked by the brochure was an example, at once touching and bathetic, of how projects (and even whole lies) might be influenced by the simplest and most unexamined images of happiness; of how a lengthy and ruinously expensive journey might be set into motion by nothing more than the sight of a photograph of a palm tree gently inclining in a tropical breeze’ (de Botton 2002, 9). 2 Abstract Tourist sites are amalgams of competing and complimentary narratives that dialectically circulate and imbue places with meaning. Widely held tourism narratives, known as tourist imaginaries, are manifestations of ‘shared mental life’ (Leite 2014, 268) by tourists, would-be tourists, and not-yet tourists prior to, during, and after the tourism experience. This dissertation investigates those specific pre-tour understandings that inform tourists’ expectations and understandings of place prior to visiting. Looking specifically at the Tower of London, I employ content and discourse analysis alongside ethnographic field methods to identify the predominant tourist imaginaries of the Tower of London, trace their circulation and reproduction, and ultimately discuss their impact on visitor experience at the Tower.

    CB(4)502/14-15(02) 容溟舟沙田區議員辦事處 The Office of Yung Ming Chau Michael Shatin District Councilor 覆函/回電請註明本處檔號： (1) in MOSCY151754 (T)-LEGCO 敬啟者： 公共交通策略研究──專業巴士服務意見書 鐵路和巴士是本港最重要的公共交通工具，雖然政府以「鐵路為主、 巴士為輔」作為政策基礎，鐵路覆蓋日益擴大，加上近年新登記私家車 數量大增，加劇路面擠塞，令巴士競爭力日漸消減。然而巴士仍有不能 取締的角色，尤其在鐵路未能覆蓋的地區、點對點服務仍保持優勢，可 惜九龍巴士經營不善，未能把握優勢令載客量不斷下跌。本處期望藉是 次研究，各專營巴士公司，尤其九巴能採納外界意見，從而改善巴士服 務令乘客受惠。 就本處與巴士公司出席各級會議，與及日常觀察所得，現就專營巴 士服務有以下意見： 1. 巴士路線發展 運輸署每年透過路線發展計劃改動巴士路線，而九巴過往都直接提 交方案到區議會，但各區區議會議席人數少則二十人，多則四十人， 實在難以在短短會議上處理，往往因此無法得到足夠支持而胎死腹 中。本處不只一次建議九巴在制訂路線發展方案前，先諮詢居民、 議員及地區團體，讓路線更符合居民需要，並跟進區議會上對路線 發展的反對意見，以了解路線發展的缺憾，可惜九巴過往一直聽而 不聞。九巴過往經常把難以更改路線的責任諉過區議員，但這種 「交差」心態才是窒礙巴士路線發展的元兇。路線發展計劃本來是 巴士公司開源節流的方式，然而九巴一直著眼節流，卻從不積極開 源，以馬鞍山欣安邨為例，該邨入伙三年多，未來數年更有九座公 營房屋落成，九巴卻一直未有悉數安排駛經西沙路的巴士線繞經欣 安邨，居民自然選擇較方便的小巴，而不願走近三四百米乘坐巴士， _________________________________________________ 地址：新界沙田馬鞍山富安花園商場地下富安廊 18B13 號 電話 Tel: 35270751 傳真 Fax : 35270784 Address : Shop 18B13, Commercial Complex, Chevalier Garden, Ma On Shan, Shatin, N.T. 容溟舟沙田區議員辦事處 The Office of Yung Ming Chau Michael Shatin District Councilor 巴士公司未有考慮新發展區潛在客源，只著眼減少車數，根本是捨 本逐末。 2. 巴士區域性重組 行政長官在二零一三年施政報告提出以區域性重組改善交通，期後 在北區、大埔、沙田、元朗及葵青展開巴士區域性重組，然而在沙 田區的重組引起極大爭議，沙田區議會更一致通過要求運輸署及九 巴重新提交方案。九巴掌握巴士營運數據，理應能平衡候車時間、 車資、行車距離，按客量重新編排服務，然而區域性重組卻令亞公 角街成為「大輸家」，多條路線被削減或抽掉，卻沒有相應增加其 他路線的班次，如何稱得上「大家配合人人得益」? 九巴繼續以 「一方配合 九巴得益」的思維經營，只會把市場佔有率拱手讓予港 鐵。 3. 載客率計算 《道路交通條例》列明，現時專營巴士上站立人數，是以該層可供 站立乘客使用的地面總面積以平方米計除以 0.17，即約一平方米站 立六人，然而在去年立法會一個委員會上，港鐵稱現時繁忙時間實 際只能每平方米站立四人，故此將會在日後新落成的鐵路，以每平 方米站立四人為服務標準。以早上繁忙時間巴士的擠逼情況，現存 標準已不合時宜，當局有必要重新制訂巴士企位的計算公式，以反 應巴士的實際載客量。本港各型號巴士載客量詳見附件一。 此外，本處就沙田區域性重組而多次向九巴及運輸署索取巴士載客

    2021 Book News Welcome to our 2021 Book News. As we come towards the end of a very strange year we hope that you’ve managed to get this far relatively unscathed. It’s been a very challenging time for us all and we’re just relieved that, so far, we’re mostly all in one piece. While we were closed over lockdown, Mark took on the challenge of digitalising some of Venture’s back catalogue producing over 20 downloadable books of some of our most popular titles. Thanks to the kind donations of our customers we managed to raise over £3000 for The Christie which was then matched pound for pound by a very good friend taking the total to almost £7000. There is still time to donate and download these books, just click on the downloads page on our website for the full list. We’re still operating with reduced numbers in the building at any one time. We’ve re-organised our schedules for packers and office staff to enable us to get orders out as fast as we can, but we’re also relying on carriers and suppliers. Many of the publishers whose titles we stock are small societies or one-man operations so please be aware of the longer lead times when placing orders for Christmas presents. The last posting dates for Christmas are listed on page 63 along with all the updates in light of the current Covid situation and also the impending Brexit deadline. In particular, please note the change to our order and payment processing which was introduced on 1st July 2020.
