Listen to him.’” -Mark 9:7 Page 1 February 28, 2021 LENT 2021 LENTEN MISSION 33 Days to Greater Glory We hope you are enjoying reading 33 Days to Greater Glory. This week, we are going to read Week Two (pp. 57-82). While there is no official rule, try not to go too far ahead and don’t panic if you fall behind. Trust that God has you where you need to be. Use your Bible and pray with the Gospel of John as you read each day’s reflection in the book. We are providing a reflection question for each day this week. If it is helpful, please use it. If not, skip it. Sunday, February 28, 2021– The Wedding at Cana (pg. 57-60) Place yourself in the scene of the wedding at Cana. Imagine Jesus there with his Mother and his disci- ples. Imagine your astonishment in witnessing the miracle of the water turning into wine. What are you bringing forward to the Lord to transform and consecrate this Lent? Monday, March 1, 2021 – Healing of the Official’s Son (pg. 60-63) Do we allow ourselves to the feel the need of our dependence on Jesus for healing? Tuesday, March 2, 2021 – Healing on the Sabbath (pg. 64-67) Jesus first asks the paralyzed man if he desires healing. Reflect on what needs healing in your life and in your family and then ask for the grace to be healed. Wednesday, March 3, 2021 – Feeding the Multitude (pg. 67- 71) How can our Lenten practices help make the Eucharistic Sacrifice the source and summit of our lives? Thursday, March 4, 2021 - Walking on Water (pg. 71-74) How can we grow in deeper reverence of the Holy Name of Jesus? Friday, March 5, 2021 – Healing the Man Born Blind (pg. 75-78) Do we truly recognize and accept the Father’s love for us? Saturday, March 6, 2021 – Raising of Lazarus (pg. 78-82) How do you imagine the tears and sorrow of Jesus? It is a sign of these times and there are difficulties, on many levels, for us to wear them. Thank you for your selfless offering in wearing the masks as we take every precaution to keep one an- other as safe as possible while also allowing us to continue to gather safely meeting the legal requirements of these times. The Art and Environment Ministry invites all SJE parishioners to join us on a very special Lenten Jour- ney. LENT is a season where we reflect on our sins and how they “mask” us from truly being close to God. So let's use the image of the mask - which for many of us is not a posi- tive image right now - to reveal a deeper transformation? During this Lenten journey, we would like to uncover our sins, be for- given and “unmask” ourselves. Located on the table outside Our Lady’s Chapel, you will find a frame and a basket with fabric strips. We invite you to take a strip of fabric (representing your mask of sin) and tie it on- to the frame as you reflect on your relationship with God. This journey began the first weekend in Lent and will end before Palm Sunday. Thank you for being part of our Parish Lenten Journey! At the Easter Vigil this year, we will prepare a new Paschal Candle. Because of our increased use of Seton Chapel we also purchase a smaller Paschal Candle for this space. Both candles will burn throughout the Easter season and for all baptisms and funerals. It is a sign of the “Light of Christ” that shatters the darkness of our world. Our new candles are handmade from beeswax and will be a beautiful sign of Easter light and hope.
