Primarily, I offer an analysis of artists’ life experiences with respect to their careers in the traditional market (e.g., galleries and museums) compared to the social media environment (e.g., Kickstarter). After analysing artists’ life stories and the art market ecosystem generally, this project focuses on how artists use social media platforms to promote and sell their work, and, related to this, how they use the new business model – crowdfunding – to advance their careers. -

Still wobbly from the three-hour drive from Phnom Penh International Airport, I’m led up 100 knee-shaking steps to the top of a steel-girdered tower, strapped into a harness, and invited to step into the abyss, trusting that the zip line will carry me all 380 meters to the landing platform in the hazy green distance. It almost does. Alas, my exhilarating soar over the forest canopy comes to a slow, shameful stop just short of the mark, leaving me dangling in mid-air and obliging one of the waiting crew to pull himself across the cable to collect me. (“The wind is perhaps not right,” he suggests kindly, saying nothing about my less-than-aerodynamic girth.) I am then hooked on to a much shorter zip line, one that carries me over the pool of a waterfall and onto the deck of the camp’s thatch-roofed bar—named, appropri- ately enough, the Landing Zone—where a smiling butler hands me a pineapple-clove shrub with a shot of tequila. -

But it isn't the quantity that's most impressive, it's the incredible diversity and distinctive quality of each of these hotels, including some of Indagare's favorite properties. Like the Four Seasons Hualalai on the big Island of Hawaii, the Four Seasons Tented Camp in Thailand's Golden Triangle, or the Siam in Bangkok, or the Oberoi Udaivilas in India. In fact, most of the Oberois in India and the one and only in the Maldives, but the list goes on and on. I mean, it's really not an exaggeration to say that Bill has designed more top luxury hotels around the world than anyone else alive, but it isn't the hotels that have garnered the most awards or press that are dearest to Bill's heart. -
