Resistance heating element

A heating element converts electrical energy into heat through the process of resistive or . passing through the element encounters resistance, resulting in heating of the element. Unlike the Peltier effect, this process is independent of the direction of current flow.

Nichrome Most heating elements use nichrome 80/20 (80% nickel, 20% ) wire, ribbon, or strip. Nichrome 80/20 is an ideal material, because it has relatively high resistance and forms an adherent layer of chromium oxide when it is heated for the first time. Material beneath this layer will not oxidize, preventing the wire from breaking or burning out.

Resistance wire: Metallic resistance heating elements may be wire or ribbon, straight or coiled. They are used in common heating devices like and hair dryers, for industrial heating, floor heating, roof heating, pathway heating to melt snow, dryers, etc. The most common classes of materials used include:

Kanthal (FeCrAl) wires

Cupronickel (CuNi) alloys for low temperature heating

Nichrome alloys are known for their high mechanical strength and their high creep strength.[3] The properties of nichrome vary depending on its alloy. Figures given are representative of typical material and are accurate to expressed significant figures. Any variations are due to different percentages of nickel or chromium.

Scarlet Helical Coil Heating Elements Scarlet Helical coil heating elements are manufactured in continuous coils or around ceramic spools and are adaptable to many types of industrial and furnaces. They provide a broad power density range for application flexibility. Furnace downtime associated with element maintenance is reduced because elements are replaceable in sections. Furnace Type: Carburizing, hardening, glass annealing furnaces and dies casting machines are equipped with helical coil heating elements. Benefits: Easily configured to furnace chamber Wide temperature range Multiple mounting options Can be replaced in sections Long service life Quick delivery of any size order Downtime-reducing stocking program Primary Element Alloys: 80/20 and 70/30 Ni/Cr Fe/Cr/Al Maximum Element Temperature: Ni/Cr: 2100° F (1150° C) Fe/Cr/Al: 2280°F (1250° C) Power Rating: As required. Dimensions: Custom fabricated to application requirements

Scarlet Bundle Rod Heater

As the name suggests, bundle rod heater consists of circular ceramic beads that hold the heating elements, they are designed for long life and maintenance free operation. The elements can be provided in almost any length but the standard dimensions available are 68 to 170 mm (2.6 to 6.6 inch). These heaters can be used as standalone elements or inside radiant tubes. Because of the ingenious design, Bundle rod heating elements deliver a much higher power than conventional cartridge heaters. In combination with radiant tubes, a system is created which delivers high power, is rugged, versatile and needs low maintenance. Designed & manufactured in low voltages for faster heating in order to achieve temperatures quickly, these heaters can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Either NiCr alloy (Mara Nicro)or FeCrAl alloy(Mara FeCrAl) can be used as heating element. For temperatures up to 2100°F (1150°C), Austenitic (NiCr) alloy (80/20 or 70/30) and for temperatures up to 2597°F (1425°C), Ferritic (FeCrAl) alloy can be used.

Superior Power Output

Bundle rod elements, with a higher power output, leads to major saving in cost and maintenance. Also when combined with radiant tubes, they give highest power rating (up to 100 kW) as compared to any other heater.

Easy installation Due to its ruggedness and versatility, bundle rod elements are easy to install and replace. Compatibility with radiant tubes allows installation to be either horizontal or vertical depending on the application. Easy repair and high temperature performance gives it an edge over others. Custom designed for the voltage and wattage required, bundle rod heaters are used in heat treat furnaces and die casting machines to molten salt baths and incinerators. With radiant tubes they can be used in high velocity convection furnaces and sealed quenched furnaces. They are also useful in converting gas-fired furnaces to .

Silicon Carbide Heating element

Silicon carbide heating element is a time trusted heating element. SiC is characterized by high use temperature, superior oxidation resistance, low corrosion, long service life, low creep, and easy installation features i.e. full accessories. Typical material properties (nominal) are specific gravity: 3.0 - 3.1g/cm3, specific heat: 0.7 * 0.1.4KJ/Kg, emissivity: ~0.80, tensile strength: ~15 * 106 N/m2 and the expansion coefficient is 4.8 * 10-6. The silicon carbide heating elements are available in eight different basic configurations that extend heater life especially in corrosive environments.

Scarlet Open Coil Element

Resistance coil heating elements are typically designed for heating of dry air. They range from a small 250 watt element to a 5 sq ft,180 kW 480v/ 3 phase autoclave heating element system. Depending on process requirements like maximum temperature, heat up time, airflow, space limitations and other factors, our application engineers have a wide range of to choose from. Along with the open coils we manufacture, there is a perfect Temperature control package that can accommodate the resistance coils that will integrate easily with your requirements.
