Conducting research in the fields of applications of remote sensing & GIS in petroleum exploration and GIS geaodatabases design and their applications in geological mapping Wetlands, geological mapping and mineral prospecting, Ecohydrology, groundwater, watershed characterization and management, water pollution, soil mapping and flood risk mapping. Conducting specialized National & Regional courses on remote sensing & GIS. Designing and building geology and surface and groundwater related GIS-based geodatabases. Team leader of Sudapet Book Project; a project for publishing a scientific book entitled: Petroleum Geology and resources of the Sudan. Team leader for designing and contributing to the editorial board of UNESCO-CWR news letter. Team leader for the development of MIS for UNESCO-CWR, data collection, data acquisition, designing of an information system for UNESCO-CWR, data sharing with local regional and international institutions. Team leader &/or member in some local and regional consultancies done for The Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office (ENTRO), Nile Basin Initiative (NBI), Khartoum State Government, Sennar State Government and South Kordofan State Government. Member of a committee responsible for designing guidelines for the scientific magazine of the Faculty of Petroleum and Minerals, Al Neelain University. Member of a university committee for the vision, objectives and designing guidelines for the Quality assurance and Quality control University Unit, Al Neelain University. Participating in scheduled capacity building programs, participating in different local & regional research networks (e.g. Ecohydrology group-FRIEND NILE, GIS Cluster-NBCBN (Nile Basin Capacity Building Network), River Morphology Cluster-NBCBN), participating with other researchers in different research programs held by UNESCO–CWR, participating in organising local and regional conferences, workshops and seminars; Participating in the various consultancies in the fields of hydrology, hydraulics, soil mapping, land cover/land use and agricultural and vegetation mapping, flood risk mapping and assessment, applications of RS & GIS carried out by UNESCO-CWR; Organizing, leading and/or participating in field trips: undergraduate level; post graduate level, Oil operating companies and in local, regional and international workshops and conferences. Coordinating the sharing of spatial data between the different offices in UNESCO-CWR and between UNESCO-CWR and other governmental institutions, UN-Organizations, Nongovernmental organizations and regional & international institutions & organizations. A GIS & Database team leader (since August 2008) the duties included data collection and acquisition (rainfall, temperature, evaporation, river & wadi discharge, sediment loads, etc.), spatial data layers creation and compilation (watersheds, stream networks, soil, geology, topography, vegetation cover, land use/land cover, population etc.), ordering and downloading of satellite data (Landsat ETM, TM, MSS, SRTM and ASTER GDEM digital elevation data for the whole Sudan and the Nile Basin, creation of a geodatabase, designing an information system for UNESCO-CWR, conducting meetings and discussions with other governmental and non-governmental institutions and organizations for data exchange, supervision of system updates. Leading the team of the Sudapet book project responsible for publishing a geoscientific book entitled “Petroleum Geology and Resources of the Sudan”. Gathering the authors’ team, share writing the book chapters, leading the networking among the chapters authors groups, reporting, contacting the international publishers…….etc. Sharing the leadership of the Sudapet fieldtrips in the Fracture basement project to El Jebalein and the Red Sea territories. Team leader of the study “A Reconnaissance Geological Investigation along the Red Sea Coast North of Port Sudan (Block 13)” conducted for CORAL Petroleum Operating Company, Sudan, February 2012. Contributing to the Joint study Project “Hydrocarbon Potentiality of the Red Sea Based on Surface Geological Field Surveys and Laboratory Approach” between the Central Petroleum Laboratories (CPL)/Upstream Directorate and Sudapet Company Ltd. /Research and Technology (Ongoing Study).
