    DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY MEDICINE LOW RISK OBSTETRIC OPTIONS & REFERRAL INFORMATION APRIL 2016 This document is intended to communicate the low risk maternity referral guidelines to Family Physicians within the Calgary Zone. Please see the attached Low Risk Obstetric Referral Contact Information sheets for family physicians that provide prenatal care to low risk patients, organized by delivering site. Physicians are able to refer their patients to any of the low risk groups listed in the attached contact list, provided that the patient meets the criteria provided by each individual clinic. Options regarding Family Physician provision of Pre-natal care within the Calgary Urban Zone: o Family Physician prenatal care is encouraged as long as deemed medically appropriate o Early Referrals to Low Risk Clinics are essential! o Consult specific Low Risk Maternity Care Clinics for further information on a shared care process o If you are unsure whether your referral is appropriate for the level of risk perceived, i.e.; low, moderate or high; please refer, and each clinic will assist in channelling any inappropriate referrals o If your client presents to you for initial consultation AFTER 20 weeks, please make referral immediately after initial visit.     Rededicating Renewing Rejewvenating Annual Report 2010 – 2011 | 5771 President and Interim Executive Director’s Message It is a real pleasure to share in these pages the accomplishments of Calgary Jewish Community Council and its successor, Calgary Jewish Federation, during an incredibly busy and productive year. Our efforts this past year have been focused on renewing and “rejewvenating” our Jewish community through education, inclusion and leadership development. We reached in to the unaffiliated and reached out to the greater Calgary community. And we are proud to say that we brought the joys of “doing Jewish” to an increasing number of men, women and children. We have a new name and new logo. Calgary Jewish Federation is now our community’s central funding, planning and coordinating body, completing a process that began with our March 2007 Strategic Plan for Ensuring the Future of the Jewish Community. This year, Federation and CJCC share one annual report. Henceforth, we will operate independently of one another. CJCC will continue to proudly serve the community, but will function independently as a not-for-profit organization tasked with coordinating local Israel advocacy efforts and promoting projects and programs with our sister region of Etzba HaGalil (the Galilee Panhandle) in Northern Israel. Another major undertaking during the past year was our search for a new Executive Director, and we are very pleased to welcome Drew Staffenberg back to Calgary in that capacity. Having served the community so capably from 1983 through 1993, Drew returns to us with outstanding experience in campus development and we are thrilled that he will help us to achieve our dream of a Jewish community campus.

    Junior Resident Medical Teaching Unit Orientation Document Foothills Medical Centre Peter Lougheed Centre Rockyview General Hospital South Health Campus Welcome to the Medical Teaching Unit (MTU) at the University of Calgary! You will receive a brief orientation on your first day depending on which site you are assigned to, but this is a detailed overview of the locations, schedules and expectations of the MTU. MTU is first and foremost a teaching unit. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team with various levels and areas of training. Formal teaching is scheduled at each site as per the schedule below. MTU patients are typically academically interesting, complex or too unstable for other services. Sometimes they are all three! Remember that your two priorities on the MTU are patient care and your education. Have fun! Last updated September 2016 A TYPICAL DAY ON THE MTU: Morning • Handover: Meet at 8 am sharp in the designated team rooms (see site specific section). Here you will meet your team, receive patient handover. • Print out a single spaced patient list and write the clerk / resident assigned for the day next to the patient name. Provide this list to the Unit Clerk (FMC Unit 36/PLC Unit 38/RGH Unit 93/SHC Unit 66). • Morning Report: site dependant • Review Admissions: Meet with your staff to review overnight admissions • See your patients: See patients in order from sickest >> those needing discharge >> least sick.
