LONGCHAMP (FR) - Sunday, October 6, 2019 Selections and Analysis LONGCHAMP (FR) - Sunday, October 6, 2019 Selections and Analysis Race 1 - TOTAL PRIX MARCEL BOUSSAC - Gr1, Purse: $440,000 - 2yo Fillies. (9 runners) (turf) about One Mile (1600 meters) 1. PLEGASTELL - Supplemented for this. Daughter of Planteur and has won both her outings at Saint Malo and latterly a Listed event at Craon after missing the break. Respected longshot. 2. FEE HISTORIQUE - Remains a maiden after four runs. Runner up in the middle two of those but only seventh here on her latest start. Would seem to have absolutely zero chance today and is a candidate for last. 3. MARIETA - Daughter of Siyouni has three starts. Runner up on debut at Maisons Laffitte before going back there to win. Big step up second in Gr2 at Deauville in August. Big shout. 4. NUNZIA - Was successful on debut at Marseille Borely in July. Runner up next time in a Listed at Vichy the following month. Fifth in bunch finish behind Savarin last time so more required. 5. BIONIC WOMAN - Promising runner up on debut at Deauville in August before a smooth victory last time out at Saint Cloud. This a big step up in class but trained by Andre Fabre, an absolute legend of the game. 6. FLIGHTY LADY - A debut third here in July which was followed by a win at Deauville the following month. Back here in September to finish third in a Gr3 behind Savarin in a tight enough finish. 7. KENLOVA - Won on debut at Chantilly back in May. Ran only in Gr3 events since. Finished third in the first two of those before close sixth behind Savarin here last time. 8. SAVARIN - A daughter of the mighty Deep Impact and has won both her runs at Deauville and latterly when staying on strongly here in a Gr3 last time. Open to even more improvement now and a worthy favorite. 9. ALBIGNA - Looked a very exciting prospect when winning her first two runs at The Curragh and the second of those was a Gr2. Disappointed in Moyglare Stud Stakes last time. Summary: A good renewal of this historically great event. Irish trainer Jessica Harrington has had a season to remember, especially with her juveniles so it must have hurt when (9) ALBIGNA bombed out in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh last time. She is on record as saying that she expects her to show her true form here and is certainly worth a wager. (8) SAVARIN is unbeaten and looked more of a grinder last time but should be in front of (3) MARIETA and (6) FLIGHTY LADY here. Selections: (9) ALBIGNA, (8) SAVARIN, (3) MARIETA, (6) FLIGHTY LADY Race 2 - PRIX JEAN-LUC LAGARDERE - Gr1, Purse: $440,000 - 2yo Colts & Fillies. (7 runners) (turf) about One Mile (1600 meters) 1. CHACHNAK - Has shown real ability in two starts by winning them both at Vichy and Lyon Parilly in the past couple of months. Should have even more improvement to come but will have to in order to win. 2. ALSON - Has three wins from four starts. Won on debut at Munich and latterly a Gr3 at Baden Baden and previously at Clairefontaine. Fourth to Earthlight on second outing. Is a nice sort. 3. VICTOR LUDORUM - Won on debut here on first of September when blitzing his rivals and then routed another field in Class Two conditions event at Chantilly two weeks later. Could literally be anything here. 4. KENWAY - Won three of six starts and placed in all the others. Improving rapidly now taking a Listed Race at Vichy and Gr3 narrowly here last time. Has a place chance. 5. HELTER SKELTER - Fourth on debut. Much improved thereafter winning twice including here and a Listed event at Deauville last time out which had been preceded by a second in a Listed at this venue. Improving. 6. ARMORY - Has won three of his five runs and is a very classy colt. Gr3 and Gr2 winner before being annihilated by the mighty Pinatubo in the Gr1 National Stakes last time out. 7. ECRIVAIN - Has three wins from four starts. Won on debut at Munich and latterly at Baden Baden and in between at Clairefontaine. Was fourth to Earthlight on second outing. Grand sort but more required. Summary: There could be a potential star in the making here for this high class Jean-Luc Lagardere. The colt in question is the Andre Fabre trained and Godolphin owned (3) VICTOR LUDORUM. He has been extremely impressive in two lesser events to date by blitzing his rivals with a potent turn of foot. He can take this step up in class in stride. (6) ARMORY is representing the Pinatubo form and should take second with (7) ECRIVAIN and (5) HELTER SKELTER next in line. Selections: (3) VICTOR LUDORUM, (6) ARMORY, (7) ECRIVAIN, (5) HELTER SKELTER Race 3 - QATAR ARABIAN WORLD CUP - Arabian Gr1, Purse: $1,100,000 - 4yo+ (11 runners) (turf) about One and One Quarter Miles (2000 meters) 1. RODESS DU LOUP - A Gr1 winner at Doncaster in September of 2018. Has struggled somewhat this year and will need to improve from his last two at Baden Baden and Goodwood to have a chance here today. 2. KHATAAB - Has won five from 17 career starts. Runner up behind (3) TAYF in a Gr1 here in May and third to Akoya at Deauville in August. Consistent type that can go close here. 3. TAYF - Won a Gr1 race over course and distance here in May and has been runner up in his last two at Baden Baden and Goodwood. A horse with plenty of ability but might find a few too good today. 4. YAZEED - Not run since April 4th when winning a Gr1 race in Doha. Gr1 winner over course and distance in September of 2018 and is not without a chance on his reappearance. 5. EBRAZ - Followed up his La Teste Buch Gr3 on July 2nd by winning a Gr1 at Goodwood later that month. He was a Gr1 winner at Doha earlier this year and must go close today. 6. MASHHUR AL KHALEDIAH - A Gr3 winner at Ostende on July 29th and had a few of these behind when winning a Listed race at Baden Baden last time out. Going for four wins in a row today but is up against it. 7. SALAM AL KHALEDIAH - A regular winner at Warsaw in Poland which includes a Gr3 race there over 2600m last time out on August 18th. Faces better opposition today and is hard to recommend on that basis. 8. AHZAR - Ran well when second in Bordeaux Gr3 in May but was slightly disappointing on his reappearance there last month. This is a step up from that and others are preferred today. 9. MARID - A close second behind Akoya in a Gr1 race over 2000m at Deauville last time out on August 10th. Dual Gr1 winner over this trip in 2018 and has solid place prospects here. 10. DERYAN - Fourth of nine behind Akoya in a Gr1 race over 2000m at Deauville last time out on August 10th. A winner at La Teste Buch and runner up at Chantilly in Group races earlier this year. 11. GENERAL LADY - Decent effort when third behind Akoya in a Gr1 race over course and distance here last month. Won two from four in Warsaw this year but will need to improve to have a chance today. Summary: The well-travelled (5) EBRAZ improved on his Gr3 win at La Teste Buch in July by winning a Gr1 at Goodwood later that same month. Third in the last two editions of this race he is in great shape at present and looks the one to beat. (4) YAZEED was a Gr1 winner at Doha last time out in April. High class colt and runs well when fresh so must be respected. (2) KHATAAB and (9) MARID are both well capable at this level and can be in the mix. Selections: (5) EBRAZ, (4) YAZEED, (2) KHATAAB, (9) MARID Race 4 - QATAR PRIX de L’ARC de TRIOMPHE - Gr1, Purse: $5,500,000 - 3yo+ (12 runners) (turf) about One and One Half Miles (2400 meters) 1. FRENCH KING - Looked no more than a decent Listed and Group performer last year. Improved beyond all expectations this season winning four including Gr1 in Germany last time. Still has it to do here though. 2. WALDGEIST - The big home hope and easy to see why. Loves this course and won the Prix Foy last time. Ground to make up on Enable but it is not impossible and the faster they go the more he likes it. 3. GHAIYYATH - Has a huge reputation and definitely lived up to that billing with an amazing performance, streaking away with German Gr1 latest recording a monstrous speed figure too. 4. KISEKI - Very classy Gr1 performer in Japan and apparently his handlers were more than happy with his third to Waldgeist in the Prix Foy last time and should be better for that effort. 5. BLAST ONEPIECE - Half a dozen wins in native Japan and was particularly impressive last time out at Sapporo when beating Fierement into third and will carry a lot of confidence from his homeland at a price. 6. FIEREMENT - Another high class runner from Japan. Has won some huge races there. Third behind Blast Onepiece at Sapporo in August. Has a good cruising speed and will be staying on strong at the finish. 7. NAGANO GOLD - Trained in Czech Republic and a really lovely animal. Career best when nearly taking the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot after terribly unlucky run throughout but this will be too tough it seems.

  • Bridging the Gap: Curlin=S Turf Frontier
FRIDAY, 15 FEBRUARY 2019 BLUE ON POINT AT MEYDAN BRIDGING THE GAP: By Kelsey Riley = Last year=s G1 King=s Stand S. winner Blue Point (Shamardal) CURLIN S TURF FRONTIER towered above his G2 Meydan Sprint rivals on paper, and he ran to form on Thursday to win eased down by five lengths on seasonal debut. The 5-year-old will now target the G1 Al Quoz Sprint on Mar. 30. He was scratched behind the gate of that contest last year as the favourite after blood was discovered in his nostrils. Rerouted to Hong Kong=s G1 Chairman=s Sprint Prize over six furlongs a month later, the >TDN Rising Star= trailed home last of nine but he looked much more like himself back to five furlongs in the King=s Stand in June, winning by 1 3/4 lengths from the highly regarded Battaash (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}). Back up to six for the July Cup, he was beaten 4 3/4 lengths in seventh and was 2 1/4 lengths off the near dead heat of Alpha Delphini (GB) (Captain Gerrard {Ire}) and Mabs Cross (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}) when third when last seen in the G1 Nunthorpe S. in August. Sitting back in third on Thursday as Faatinah (Aus) (Nicconi Curlin has been chosen as the first mate {Aus})Bhis closest-rated rival and the winner of a handicap over for Lady Aurelia | Sarah Andrew this track and trip on Jan. 3Bset the pace, Blue Point responded when given a shake of the reins by William Buick at the 300- meter mark.
