More detailed accounts have been comprehensively researched and told by local historians and published in local and in national publications. I am heavily indebted to those authors for some of the information contained in this booklet. Only a small number of GAA officials have been mentioned in the text, those whose service is noted due to the number of years serving in a senior position.
