Cross-Index to Pedigrees to Cross-Index A CROSS-INDEX TO PEDIGREES PEDIGREE INDEX The following index helps broodmare owners easily locate stallions for inbreeding or outcrossing. In it, the names of all stallions included in the advertising section of this book (the statistical pages) appear in capital letters. A four-generation pedigree is shown for each of these horses. The index further includes the names of all horses or mares with as many as one generation of ancestors shown in the pedigrees of the advertised stallions in this book. The figure in parentheses indicates the number of generations shown. No figure after the name in small letters indicates only one generation shown. Example: GUN RUNNER. A four generation pedigree is shown in the statistical pages for GUN RUNNER and all other featured stallions, which are desig- nated in capital letters and bold font. Example: One generation of ancestors for A.P. Indy is shown in the statistical pages under great-grandson CALIFORNIA CHROME, two generations for grandson ORB, and three generations for his son BERNARDINI. Thus, if a mare owner wants to make a mating involving A.P. Indy, the previously named stal- lions are available; if he wants to avoid inbreeding to A.P. Indy, he knows that a mating with those stallions will be unsatisfactory. NAME IN PEDIGREE OF NAME IN PEDIGREE OF NAME IN PEDIGREE OF A S Ranger(2), Vertiformer(2). BACKTALK. This act placed all wild horses living on public rangelands under the protection of the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service. Before this legislation individuals in the West could round up wild horses without interference.
