2014 Tasting Notes Forte pays homage to the fortitude and perseverance of the Trinchero family, whose winemaking heritage in the Napa Valley spans three generations. Forte is a dynamic expression of the region—and of Trinchero Napa Valley. VINEYARD INFORMATION This wine is sustainably sourced from several of our prime estate vineyards 2014 throughout the Napa Valley. In crafting this blend, we hand select barrels of Malbec from both our Haystack Vineyard in the Atlas Peak AVA and Cloud’s Nest Vineyard in the Mount Veeder AVA, two high-elevation regions in Napa Valley. The Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot come from our Central Park West Vineyard in St. Helena and the Merlot comes from Vera’s Vineyard in South Napa. 2014 GROWING SEASON The 2014 growing season in Napa Valley was preceded by an exceptionally dry winter which also included some of the coldest days on record. It began with an COMPOSITION: early bud-break, followed by a mild spring and rain early on in the season. It was an 74% Malbec, 13% Cabernet Franc, early season from bud-break to veraison to harvest, with an unexpected earthquake 12% Petite Verdot, 1% Merlot in late August, and some hail in late September, to keep the winemakers on their HARVEST DATE: toes. All in all, 2014 delivered a vintage of exceptional quality. September 17 – October 11, 2014 COOPERAGE: WINEMAKER COMMENTS 20 months, 100% French oak (60% new) “This Bordeaux-style blend highlights the incredible selection of estate vineyards at my fingertips and vineyards from a wide range of Napa Valley. A vibrant, elegant Alc: 14.9| pH: 3.83 | TA: 6.0 red wine, it delivers intricate aromas of floral notes, crushed flowers, blueberry CASES PRODUCED: compote, ripe cranberry and violets on the nose. Rustic and course layered flavors 4,168 6-packs of dark fruit and creamy black fruit are revealed across a multi-layered palate, framed by fuzzy tannins, a voluptuous mouthfeel and a long, spicy, chewy finish.” – Mario Monticelli FORTE ¦ 3070 N ST HELENA HIGHWAY ¦ ST HELENA ¦ CALIFORNIA 94574 ¦ PHONE 707.963.1160 ¦ TRINCHERONAPAVALLEY.COM ¦ ©2018 TRINCHERO WINERY, ST. • THE SCIENCE BEHIND the NAPA VALLEY APPELLATION an Examination of the Geology, Soils, and Climate That Define Napa Valley As a Premier Grape Growing Region
THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE NAPA VALLEY APPELLATION An examination of the geology, soils, and climate that define Napa Valley as a premier grape growing region. By Gerald D. Boyd Napa Valley is a name that conjures up many images, thoughtful reflections and names of legends and leaders that are emblematic of the contemporary meaning of the valley as a major wine region. In 1966, with the opening of his eponymous winery in Oakville, Robert Mondavi, Napa’s elder statesman, recognized the unique qualities of Napa Valley soils and the wines they produced. “We knew then that we had the climate, the soil and the varieties that made our own distinct style of wine that could be the equal of the great wines of the world, but it did require the winegrowing and the wisdom to know how to present it to the world.” By the early 1970s, in another part of the country, I became acutely aware of Napa’s growing reputation when I made my first wine trip to France. As a newly minted wine writer, based in Colorado, I sensed that California wines were on the verge of making a major impact in the world wine market and that Colorado was hardly a thriving wine region. Fact is, although California wines were gaining shelf space in Denver, it was clear that Americans were then more Euro-centric in their wine tastes. It was a sign I took to heart while planning for my first trips as a wine writer. I mistakenly figured that the French winemakers on my travel itinerary would be well versed on California wine, so I should be prepared.

  • Alex Guarachi Biography
Media Contact: Erin Vaughen Hlynsky 818-225-5100 Ext. 237 [email protected] ALEX GUARACHI BIOGRAPHY Alex Guarachi is owner and vintner of Guarachi Family Wines and founder of Guarachi Wine Partners. Alex came to The United States almost 30 years ago from Chile on a soccer scholarship that ended with an injury. As a result, he began the uphill journey of importing Chilean wines into the backyard of Napa and Sonoma. Working from a garage and performing every task, Alex was order taker, warehouse manager and truck driver, in an attempt to gain recognition for the wines of South America. His import company, Guarachi Wine Partners (formally TGIC Importers), was hence one of the first importers of Chilean and Argentine wines and has grown to represent wines from around the world. Guarachi Wine Partners is now the second largest importer of South American wines and in 2010 was honored by Wine Enthusiast as Importer of the Year. In 2007, after 25 years of serving as the founder and president of Guarachi Wine Partners, Alex Guarachi poured his passion for building brands into his own boutique label, with well-crafted and limited bottlings of Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast. Guarachi Family Wines has recently purchased Meadowrock vineyards in the Atlas Peak appellation of Napa Valley and Sun Chase vineyards, which overlooks Gap’s Crown in the Sonoma Coast Petaluma Wind Gap. From these prestigious estate vineyards, Guarachi Family Wines looks forward to future single vineyard releases as the brand continues on its path of making the best possible wine from the region.
