Brian Welter - 312-534-8298 Page Three Second Sunday of Advent December 10, 2017 FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Parishioners, We are only fifteen days away from celebrating the birth of our Lord at Christmas. I’m sure everybody is busy shopping, baking, decorating, attending parties, and other duties that accompany this holiday sea- son. But let us not forget what Advent is all about: preparing ourselves for our Lord’s coming. We can do this best through attending Mass, prayer, acts of charity and through reconciliation for past wrongs and hurts with God and our fellow man. Let us all make sure we find time in our busy schedules to pray and open our hearts for the Christ child. Throughout Advent and the Christmas season many of us will be visiting and celebrating the season with co-workers, friends and relatives. Most of us will also be gathering together as a faith community to offer praise and give thanks to God at the Christmas Liturgy. Unfortunately there are many people in our community who are homebound due to illness or abandonment. Please remember to keep all our sick and homebound in your prayers throughout the Christmas season. This Wednesday, December 13th, we will be celebrating our first Masses in the remodeled church. At the 6:30am Mass there will be a special Rite where I will incense and bless our new tabernacle. Please remind friends and family if they’ve been out of town that Masses the weekend of the 16th and 17th and thereafter will no longer be held in the Parish Center, but in the church. I ask that all parishioners please be patient for the next several weeks as we acclimate ourselves to the new sound and new lighting system. Adjustments will be made as we see what calibrations will best serve us for our liturgies. Please remember that all our new stained glass windows are being custom made and will be installed over the next several months as they are completed by the artisans that were hired. All seven windows on the east side of the church, and the seven small windows on the top of the west side of the church will have stained glass. The four framed sections you see on the west wall will also have new stained glass illuminated with artificial lighting. I appreciate your patience and understanding as these final projects are completed. In the meantime, I hope everybody is pleased with the remodeling of our beautiful church. The pews have been refinished and stained, new kneelers and seat cushions installed, our sanctuary has been ex- tended, retiled, restructured, and a ramp installed, the ceiling has been drywalled, statues have been moved and refinished, and many other changes have taken palace which are too numerous to mention at this point. In the future, I will go into more detail especially in regards to the meaning and choices of our stained glass windows. Thank you very much for your generosity which made this endeavor possible.
