VOL VI No. 6 September 26, 2019

Dear Lipman Families,

It has been a warm week at Lipman, and despite the heat, our Lipman Warriors have still been productive and active. On Wednesday our school community met in Family Groups for the second time. Family Groups are small cross-age groups of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. We meet every other week to deepen connections, learn about important topics affecting youth, further explore our themes of justice and community and have fun! This week in our Family Meetings we participated in circle discussions and then went outside to engage in a fun team building activity. Ask your middle school student about it!

There is a lot of information in this newsletter about upcoming high school informational events. 7th and 8th grade families--please check it out.

Please also plan to attend our Family Literacy Night on October 10th. We are fortunate to have a published author joining us as our keynote speaker. Dashka Slater shares a passion for literacy, social justice and journalism and we are excited to learn from her. Thank you to the Brisbane Library for partnering with us to bring her to Lipman. Please join us for this exciting evening!

Have a wonderful evening!

Warmly,

Mrs. Heckerman
