Welcome Class of 2016! Get Involved! Bienvenidas a Wellesley! My name is Mared Alicea‐Westort, and I am the Advisor to Latina Students and the Assistant Dean of Intercultural Education for the College. Our office is part of the Division of Student Life, and serves as a resource for all Latina Students.

I hope you find this handbook helpful as you spend your first year at Wellesley. It includes a little bit of everything you need to know in your first year at Wellesley College.

As an Advisor to Latina Students, I provide individual advising, leadership consultation, referrals, information on internships and scholarships, and advocacy. I’d like to take this opportunity to encourage you to get to know me, and my services, and learn how you can get involved in the Latina community of the College. Look out for my programs, particularly Dia de Los Muertos, Parrandas, Latina Month and the Latina Cultural Show (and, contact me if you’re interested in participating.)

If you have any questions, or would just like to say “hi”, please don’t hesitate to contact me at (781) 283‐2958, e‐mail [email protected], or stop by my office in Billings 309. You can also learn more by checking out my website: www.wellesley.edu/LatinaAdvisor and my facebook page www.facebook.com/wellesleycollegelatinaadvisor.

I look forward to meeting you, and wish you a wonderful year!

Best, One of the best ways to get involved with the Latina community at Wellesley is to participate in the annual Latina Cultural Show (held in April, Latina Month.) This celebration of culture incorporates singing, dancing, monologues, skits, poetry, and much more! Whether you’re performing or working behind the scenes, this fun‐filled 3 program is an excellent way to celebrate your heritage and the strength of the Latina

community at Wellesley.
