CCSA English briefing on 1 March 2021 (Unofficial translation)

1. The number of new confirmed cases is 80 with 196 new recoveries. The number of accumulated cases stands at 26,031 of which 624 are active cases. There is no fatality today, so the accumulated total remains at 83.

2. Today is Zero Discrimination Day. In the context of health, this means we should refrain from stigmatizing COVID-19 patients.

3. The new wave of COVID-19 has been under control in most areas of the country. However, infections are still found in certain provinces such as those related to the fresh market cluster in Pathum Thani and among migrant workers in Chonburi and Ratchaburi. Therefore, the public are advised to remain vigilant and follow DMHTT measures.

4. On 28 February 2021, DPM and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul became the first person in the country to get a shot of the COVID-19 vaccine with PM Prayut Chan-o-cha in attendance. As of 28 February 2021, 110,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been distributed to 11 provinces such as Samut Sakhon, , Pathum Thani, Tak and . 319 medical staff in Samut Sakhon, , and Samut Prakan have been vaccinated without any report of adverse side effects so far. Today, more vaccines will be distributed to another 2 provinces, and (Samui).

5. Vaccines help reduce the risk of infections, but those who have been vaccinated are still recommended to follow DMHTT measures. The authorities are also preparing for an exit strategy for Samut Sakhon since the situation is gradually improving.

6. MFA and UN will organise a seminar on “Women in leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World” on 3 March 2021. The seminar will be available on Facebook Live @Thai MFA and @UNWomenAsia.
