Since that time, this great institution has made tremendous strides in creating accessible education for all who sought it. In 1902, Albany Bible and Manual Training Institute was an idea. It became the creation of 29-year-old Dr. Joseph Winthrop Holley, inspired by the writings Neshaszda Brown, Miss ASU 2011-2012, and of W.E.B. du Bois. Christopher Atkinson, Mr. Royal Gentleman 2011-2012 Dr. Holley had a vision of prosperity for the poor uneducated people of Dougherty County, Georgia.
