Dear Kingdom Kidz & Parents:

Welcome to the “HOPE” of Christmas” edition of the NO LIMITS Devotion book! We call it “NO LIMITS” because with God, there are NO LIMITS!!! We want to encourage parents to do these devotionals with your child (children). Scripture passages are included (NASB) or you may choose to read Scripture from your Bible directly. The devotions are short and most of the time very simple to understand. Talk with your child about the meanings and life applications of the truths that are taught.

As we prepare for the musical, we hope to teach the children about TRUE worship. We say again and again that true worship begins in the heart. Another truth we want to teach the children is that God has a “Picture, perfect plan” for each of their lives.

One of the most important aspects of the NO LIMITS devotions is the fact that children learn scripture for every song. We want the children to continue to “hide God’s Word in their hearts.” To encourage learning, children may earn 10pts for each verse they say each week. We would love for them to say their verse/verses to a choir worker every week!

Everyone who completes the devo book will receive a special pin to wear in the musical. It is our prayer that as each child and their family work through the NO LIMITS devotion book, hearts would be challenged to worship God in spirit and in truth! Please pray with me that souls will be saved, lives will be changed, and God will receive all praise and honor and glory through this year’s Christmas Musical – The HOPE of Christmas!

In His Service, Mrs. Teri

2 The Whole Story “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares EK 1 the LORD, “plans for welfare and not for calamity WE to give you a future and a hope.” JEREMIAH 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11-13 11‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares DAY 1 the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’ 12Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

God has a Picture Perfect Plan for your life. How does that make you feel? Isn’t it amazing to know that God cares about us so much that He wants our lives to be prosperous? He wants us to have hope—that hope comes through knowing Jesus.

As awesome as verse 11 is, sometimes people only read that verse and think everything in life should be great! But, did you keep reading? Verse 12 tells us that God will listen when we do what? ______

What does verse 13 say? “You will ______Me and ______Me when you ______for Me with______.

It is important to realize that we cannot just expect our lives to be perfect. How would we ever learn to depend on God if we never had struggles. The Lord will use these struggles to create heart-and-life change. We need His transforming grace every day of our life. God has a plan for your life, but you must seek His will with all your heart!

How do we seek God? Through reading our Bible. Are you seeking God’s plan for your life everyday? Are you reading God’s Word each day? Use your NO LIMITS book through the year to help you be in the habit of seeking God with all your heart!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for having a perfect plan for my life. Thank You for giving me people in my life to teach me more about You and what the Bible says. Please help me to read the Bible every day and to seek You with all my heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

3 Luke 2:8-20 8 In the same region there were some shepherds staying out DAY 2 in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; 11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” 15 When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. 17 When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.

This passage of Scripture is very familiar to many people at Christmas. So here are some simple questions: Who were the first group of people the Angels told about Christ’s birth? ______What kind of animals were they keeping? ______What is a baby sheep called? ______(told you these were simple) Now, Read John 10:11 Jesus says, “I am the good ______.” Read verse 14. Who does the Good Shepherd know? ______Those are people who have committed their lives to Jesus. Read John 1:29. What name of Jesus is used in this verse?______.

In part of the opening song, we sing a traditional Christmas carol written in the 15th century. The 1st verse says the angels told the shepherds to leave their flocks and go to Bethlehem to find the “lambkin blest.” “Lambkin blest” is definitely not a phrase we hear much. The word “lambkin” just means a young lamb, a very young sheep; and “blest” is a different spelling of blessed. Jesus was born as a baby; and Jesus is the “Lamb of God.” Jesus is also the “Good Shepherd” and those who have given their lives to Jesus are His “sheep.” Do you see how cool that is! God chose the shepherds to be the first ones to hear about the Good Shepherd!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for being born as the Holy “lambkin.” Thank You for being the precious Lamb of God. Thank You for being the Good Shepherd and promising that You will lead. Help me to listen for Your voice and to follow. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

4 Psalm 98 1 O sing to the LORD a new song DAY 3 For He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him. 2 The LORD has made known His salvation; He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations. 3 He has remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. 4 Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises. 5 Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, With the lyre and the sound of melody. 6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn Shout joyfully before the King, the LORD. 7 Let the sea roar and all it contains, The world and those who dwell in it. 8 Let the rivers clap their hands, Let the mountains sing together for joy 9 Before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth; He will judge the world with righteousness And the peoples with equity.

I love verse 1 -- “sing to the Lord a new song.” Once we have Jesus in our lives, we sing in a way like never before. We are also singing “new songs” for this Christmas Musical. Some songs like “Joy to the World” are older songs used in a new song (or medley). Will you sing these new songs “to the Lord?”

Verse 4 tells us to “shout ______to the Lord, all the ______.” What are four things that we are told to use to praise (sing to) the Lord? (verses 5 & 6) ______, ______, ______, and ______. [A psalm is a______.]

There are so many ways to praise and worship the Lord! Let’s do all we can to rejoice and sing and praise His Holy Name!

Did you know that the song “Joy to the World” was not originally written as a Christmas Carol? The words were written by Isaac Watts as a “translation of the Psalms of David.” He used God’s Word to apply to his life in the 18th century. One hundred years later, the words were put to music. We continue to sing this “Scripture song” today. God’s Word never dies. It will endure forever!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for creating music to praise You. Thank You for giving us instruments to bless Your name. Help me to sing all the new songs I am learning for You and for Your honor and glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

5 Psalm 95:1-7 1 O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD, DAY 4 Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. 3 For the LORD is a great God And a great King above all gods, 4 In whose hand are the depths of the earth, The peaks of the mountains are His also. 5 The sea is His, for it was He who made it, And His hands formed the dry land. 6 Come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. 7 For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.

“O come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.” One of the best loved and most recognized Christmas Carols of all times is “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” Psalm 95 uses the phrase “O come, let us” at the beginning and end. There are four more times that “let us” is used and we could easily read “o come” before each one. What are the things that we are told to do? O come, let us… 1. ______2. ______3. ______4. ______5. ______6. ______

“Adore” and “worship” are synonyms (words that mean the same). Who alone are we to worship/adore? ______

God is worthy of worship because He is the Creator of all people, of all life. One of the best ways for us to truly worship God is through faithful obedience. When we obey God by doing what He tells us in His Word, we are “living out” true worship.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for being the Creator of life. Please help me to worship You by being obedient—to You, my parents, my teachers, and others You have put over me. Please help me to worship You in my singing. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

6 Review Days 1- 4. What did God teach you this week? What can you DAY 5 apply (put into your life) to your life from this week’s devos? ______

Write out this week’s HOPE Scripture (from memory if possible). ______

Think about what you have learned. The Bible says we are to “meditate” on God’s Word day and night. Meditate means to consider or think over carefully, to spend time in quiet thinking.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for your Holy Word. Thank You for songs that teach me more about You and how to praise You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

SECRETARY USE ONLY Sign off weekly devo when completed: Points Given:

7 God With Us The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will K 2 shine on them. WEE For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. ISAIAH 9:2 & 6

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin DAY 1 will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:18-23 18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. 19 And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned to send her away secretly. 20 But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: 23 “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.”

Has anyone ever made a promise to you and then not kept it? That hurts our feelings and makes us disappointed doesn’t it? Maybe you feel as if others never keep their promises. Do you keep your promises to other people? The Bible says it is better not to promise anything than to promise and not keep it. (Ecc. 5:5) When God makes a promise, He always keeps it.

What sign did the Lord Himself give in Isaiah 7:14? ______

Let’s take a look at the Matthew passage. Verse 22 says, “Now all this took place to ______what was spoken by the ______through the ______:” What is the name of the prophet to whom verse 22 refers? ______Did you know that Isaiah wrote those words over 700 years before it happened? WOW! That is a long time! Did God keep His promise? ______We see in verse 23 that He did keep His promise! What was God’s promise? ______

8 Can we trust God to keep His promises? The answer is YES! We have just read in His Word today that He kept His promise to send Jesus. Are you trusting God to keep His promises? You can trust Him, by believing in Jesus, God’s promised One.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for keeping Your promises. Thank You for sending Jesus, the promised One. Please help me to always remember that I can trust You to keep Your promises. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin DAY 2 will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Did you know that the Bible gives us many names for Jesus? What are the names for Jesus that are given in these two verses in Isaiah? ______

These names that you list tell us about who Jesus is. They tell of His character, His ministry, and His position.

Think about what is going on in your life right now. Which one of the names listed above for Jesus means the most to you right now? Do you have a problem for which you need help? Jesus is your Wonderful Counselor. Do you feel like things in your life are crazy? Jesus is your Prince of Peace. Do you have a need in your life and you don’t know the outcome? Jesus is your Mighty God. You can take everything to Jesus because He will give grace for every situation.

Dear Jesus, thank You for being my Wonderful Counselor when I don’t know what to do. Thank You for being Mighty God who gives grace for every need. Thank You for being Prince of Peace. I praise You because You are the Eternal Father whose kingdom will never end. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

9 Isaiah 9:2 The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those DAY 3 who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them.

John 8:12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Our song says, “The people that walked in the darkness of night, days so dark, sin clouded out the light.” What prophet wrote about people walking in darkness? ______Isaiah said the people will see or have seen a ______.

According to John 8:12, who is the Light? ______Jesus said, “…he who follows Me will not walk in ______but will have the ______of life.”

Read Matthew 5:14 & 16 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Who does Jesus say is the light of the world? ______Believers in Jesus are to be a light. How can we be a light for Jesus? In verse 16, what does the verse say others will see when we let our light shine for Jesus before others? ______Who do our good works glorify? ______

Darkness is often used as a symbol of evil and sin. Are you walking in darkness or are you following Jesus? To come into the “light” and follow Jesus, you must admit the darkness of your sin, repent, turn away from your sin, and ask Jesus to come into your life and be your Savior.

Dear Jesus, thank You that You are the Light of the World. Thank You for the gift of salvation which allows me to walk in Your light. Please help me to let my light shine for you this Christmas season so that others may see You and come to know You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

10 Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin DAY 4 will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:23 “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.”

John 14:16-17 16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

On day 2 we looked at some of the names of Jesus. Today, let’s take a look at the name Immanuel. What does Immanuel mean? ______Jesus was God in a human body. Therefore, God was literally among us or “with us.” Is God still with us today? ______John 14:16 says that He is still with us. Jesus said He would ask the Father and He would give us what? ______What does verse 17 call that Helper? ______. The Spirit of truth is the Holy Spirit. If you are a believer, where does verse 17 say the Holy Spirit lives or abides? ______. Not only does He live with you, but He lives in you as well! How long does the Bible say the Holy Spirit will be with you? ______Does it excite you to know that God will be with you FOREVER? It excites me! I think that is very good news!

It is so comforting to know that God is with us. He knows what we are doing every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year! WHEW! He is ALWAYS with us!!! However, do you and I live as if God is with us? I sure hope so. I know that there will be times when we mess up. In fact, there may be some days when all we seem to do is mess up! But, God is with us. He loves us and will forgive us if we ask. He is with us in the tough times and He is with us in the good times. Be sure to thank Him this week for always being with you.

Dear Jesus, thank You for coming to this earth as a baby. Thank You for dying on the cross to save me from my sins. Thank You for giving me Your Holy Spirit to be with me forever. Please help me to honor and please You in all that I say and do. May others see that You are with me and live in me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

11 Review Days 1- 4. What did God teach you this week? What can you DAY 5 apply (put into your life) to your life from this week’s devos? ______

Write out this week’s HOPE Scripture (from memory if possible). ______

Think about what you have learned. The Christmas story is not just about Jesus being born. Jesus’ birth meant God came down to be with man. God with us! AND, He is still with us today. Now THAT is Good News! Our song says, “Good News to the poor! Good News for the broken hearts! Good News to the captives! Good News for those who cry! Good News! Emmanuel, God with us!” Will you tell someone the Good News this week? Think about whom you can invite to come to our musical and hear the Good News!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the Good News that You came down to earth as a baby and lived among us as a man. Thank You that You are still with us today. Please help me to share that Good News with someone this week. Thank You for the opportunity that You are giving me to sing about the Good News in our Christmas musical. I pray that many people will come to hear the Good News and that many people will be saved. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

265-7425 • Call Mrs. Teri, leave your NAME & GRADE, and answer the challenge! (Call between Thursday, 7am – Tuesday, 10pm. All callers go into a drawing.) CHALLENGE: CALL MRS. TERI AND SING THE PART OF THE SONG THAT IS MENTIONED IN THE ‘THINK ABOUT IT’ PART OF DAY 5. THEN TELL WHAT EMMANUEL MEANS.

SECRETARY USE ONLY Sign off weekly devo when completed: Points Given: 12 Tell Me the Story 11In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word K 3 was with God, and the Word was God. 14And the EE Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we W beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. JOHN 1:1 & 14

Luke 2:1-7 1 Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, DAY 1 that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. 2 This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. 4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, 5 in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. 6 While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Remember during Week 1 we learned about God having a perfect plan for each life? Well, He most certainly had a perfect plan for Joseph and Mary. He had a plan to fulfill all the prophecies that had been made about where Jesus would be born. We see that Joseph and Mary each lived in Galilee. Look in verse 1 and find out who God used to bring them to Bethlehem. ______

The Old Testament prophesied that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. Joseph and Mary made the trip even though women were not usually required to “register.” Traveling while expecting a child possibly made the trip slower. By the time they reached Bethlehem, the town was very crowded. Where did Joseph & Mary have to stay?______Do you think they understood why they had to do all this traveling and then not even be able to have a “real” place to sleep? The Bible does not tell us, but it is good for us to think about things like that. How do we react when things do not seem to go the way we think they should? How do we react? I would imagine that Joseph & Mary were humble and obedient and thankful, because the Bible does not tell us otherwise.

Read Luke 1:38 And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

What did Mary say? “Let/May it be done ______.”

13 We may not always understand where God is leading or why something is happening. Remember, God sees the “big picture.” He sees the outcome and the effect. He allows us to go through things we do not understand, because it will help us be prepared for His plan for us. Do you think Joseph or Mary understood? The Bible tells us they were both frightened, but they both chose to trust God and they were willing to do things His way. We must always be willing to follow God where and when He leads.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for always having a perfect plan. Thank You for loving me so much that You want me to trust You. Please help me to trust and follow where You lead. Please help me not to be afraid when I don’t understand why things happen. Thank You for always being there for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Luke 2:8-14 8 In the same region there were some shepherds staying out DAY 2 in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. 12 This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

Who does the Bible say were the first group of people to hear of the Savior’s birth? ______Where were they? ______Did you know that in Bible days shepherds were considered “outcasts” and dishonest. We have often heard they were “lowly shepherds” but thought of as dishonest? Being an outcast means nobody likes you. So, these shepherds that nobody liked, and people thought were dishonest were the very first to hear the news about the Savior’s birth!

Have you ever been the first to hear some good news? How did that make you feel? You felt special, right? Funny, but something as small as being the “first to know” makes us feel important. But, shepherds?

God has the picture perfect plan for every life, correct? That means even for people who may be considered “lowly” or “outcasts.” There are no outcasts or lowly people in God’s eyes. He created each person in His image. Do you know someone in your class at school or church, or in your neighborhood that other people consider an outcast? Is there a boy or girl that may not be popular or cool in some people’s mind? How do you treat that person? Remember, they are created by God, for God’s glory, and He loves them as much as He loves you. Are willing to share your “Good News” with them? 14 Dear Jesus, Thank You for creating each person in Your image. Thank You for loving me even when I may not be loveable. Please help me to love others the way You do and to share Your love with people that others ignore. Help me to be a good example of God’s love and forgiveness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Luke 2:15-20 15When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, DAY 3 the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger.

The Shepherds are awesome examples of how we should live life. You may be saying, “What? Live in the fields with stinky sheep and be outcasts?” NO. That’s not what I mean. They are examples by doing three things:

1. Verse 15 & 16: They OBEYED. Immediately and in a hurry! How many times to we not obey our parents until they have told us several times what to do? Is that right or wrong? ______Delayed obedience is Disobedience. Same principle when God tells us to do something—no matter our age! When God says to do something, we should obey and with a sense of urgency.

2. Verse 17: They SHARED. The Shepherds let everybody they could tell know what had happened – a Savior had been born in Bethlehem! Do we tell everybody we know what God has done in our life? Do we tell them about our Savior?

3. Verse 20: They PRAISED GOD! When they returned to the fields, they were changed people. They were “glorifying and praising God.” When we “hear and see” what is told to us (from God’s Word) do we praise and glorify God? This is something we try to teach in choir. We have so much for which to be thankful. There is always reason to praise God.

Think about the reasons you have to praise God. It might be a good idea to write them down and look at that list. There is a place on the next page for you to do that. Use these things in prayer time to thank and praise God for what He has done for you. Are you willing to share those things with others. Let other people know what God has done for you.

15 I WILL PRAISE AND GLORIFY GOD FOR:

______

Dear Jesus, Thank You for Who You are and for all the things You do in my life. [Thank Him for the things on your list.] Please help me to obey You when You want me to do something. Please help me not to be ashamed to share my praises with others. I want my life to glorify You, God. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Matthew 28:19-20 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, DAY 4 baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

The Great Commission. Do you think we could “summarize” these verses with the first verse of our song? Tell Me the Story of Jesus, write on my heart every word; Tell me the story most precious, sweetest that ever was heard.

This great song was written by one of the greatest hymn writers ever, Frances J. Crosby (Fanny Crosby). It was published in 1880. What is amazing about Fanny Crosby is that she was totally blind since she was six weeks old. She had an eye infection and a doctor mistreated the infection which caused total blindness. Even though blind, she never became bitter or angry. She realized that God had a perfect plan for her life and was willing to do what He wanted. She said, “If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me.”

In our song, what “story of Jesus” are we telling? ______

During the song, we narrate Luke 2:1-16—the verses we have been 16 reading the past three days. We need to tell people the story of Jesus all year long—not just at Christmas and Easter.

Fanny Crosby was obedient and faithful to God and faithful to “tell His Story” regardless of her disability (her blindness). What are you doing to tell the Story of Jesus? How are you obeying God? How are you being faithful to God? Do you have a “disability?” I don’t think God considers it a disability—remember, He has a picture perfect plan for you. Your “disability is HIS ability.” We all have a “disability.” We are sinners. We are not perfect. However, if we surrender our lives to God like Fanny Crosby did, He will still use us to fulfill His Great Commission.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for using a lady over 150 years ago to write a song that encourages me to tell others about You today. Thank You that is doesn’t matter what “disability” I have, You will still use me if I will obey You. Please help me to always be willing to obey You and be used in telling others about You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

17 Think about what you have learned. The Bible says we are to “meditate” on God’s Word day and night. Meditate means to consider or think over carefully, to spend time in quiet thinking.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for telling us the story of Jesus through the Bible. Thank You that I can learn more about You by reading Your Word. Please help me to read the Bible every day so I can tell other people more about the story of Jesus. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

18 Hope Was Born That Night But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for 4 behold, I bring you good news of great joy which EEK will be for all the people; for today in the city of W David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. LUKE 2:10-11

DAY 1 HOPE in JESUS’ BIRTH Luke 2:4-20 4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, 5 in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. 6 While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.

The night Jesus was born was a night of HOPE for the entire world. However, the entire world did not know about that HOPE just yet. Who specifically was given HOPE that night.

1)______2) ______3) ______

Joseph and Mary had been told by the angel that Mary was carrying the Son that would “save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). They knew how special this birth would be and the HOPE that Jesus would bring. But again, it amazes me that the shepherds—the lowly, the most humble group of people—were the first ones in the world to hear about this HOPE!

Who are we willing to share this HOPE with during our preparation for our musical? We want parents and grandparents and church members to come celebrate this HOPE of Christmas with us. But more importantly will be those there who have not heard about the HOPE of Christmas!!! Pray for and invite those who don’t know Jesus. When they come, they will hear about the LIVING HOPE of Christmas! 19 Dear Jesus, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for being the HOPE of the world. Thank You for being born as a baby so that You could live a perfect life and give us HOPE for an eternal future with YOU! Please help me to share this HOPE with others and invite them to our musical. May many souls be saved and lives changed because of the LIVING HOPE that YOU offer. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

DAY 2 HOPE in JESUS’ DEATH Luke 23:33-47 33 When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. 34 But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves. 35 And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.” 36 The soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine, 37 and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!” 38 Now there was also an inscription above Him, “THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.” 39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!” 40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!” 43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.” 44 It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, 45 because the sun was obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two. 46 And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT.” Having said this, He breathed His last. 47 Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he began praising God, saying, “Certainly this man was innocent.”

Matthew 27:54 Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life. He was surrendered to His Father God’s will to sacrifice His life to pay for the sins of the entire world. His death brought HOPE to everyone. Who at the cross specifically received this HOPE?

1) ______2) ______

20 Even in Jesus’ suffering and anguish (severe pain) on the cross, He was compassionate towards others. He asked His Father to forgive the ones mocking Him. He listened to the thief on the cross who asked, “Jesus remember me when You come in Your Kingdom!” That thief never went to church, never did one thing to serve the Lord—but he recognized his sin and what he deserved and he believed that Jesus could save him! That thief is our example that there is nothing we can do to get to Heaven on our own. Only Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life… no one comes to the Father except through HIM!!!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for dying on the cross. Thank You for Your compassion even in suffering. Help me to be compassionate to others regardless of my circumstances or how I feel. Help me to always be ready to tell others that You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

DAY 3 HOPE in JESUS’ RESURRECTION I Corinthians 15:1-17 1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 7 then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; 8 and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, and not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed. 12 Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. 15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.

When Jesus was first resurrected, Mary Magdelene was the first person to receive that HOPE of the resurrection. Then Peter and John, the other disciples, the men on the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24), and many more.

21 Who else specifically received the HOPE of the resurrection (according to verse 6 in our text)? ______Matthew 28:18–20 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Now who receives the HOPE of the resurrection? ______

Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. Jesus Christ is our LIVING HOPE. He gives HOPE of eternal life to everyone. There is no one too lowly, no sin too great, no pit too deep, that God’s love and forgiveness is not greater. He extends grace to all who will call on Him.

Dear Jesus, Thank You not only for dying for my sins, but for Your resurrection and for being my Living HOPE. Thank You that Your grace extends HOPE to all people, every nation, tribe, and tongue. Thank You that “God so loved the world that You gave Your only Son.” In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

DAY 4 HOPE for ETERNAL LIFE I Corinthians 15:1-4 1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Read the lyrics to the song Living Hope: How great the chasm that lay between us How high the mountain I could not climb In desperation I turned to heaven And spoke Your name into the night. Then through the darkness Your lovingkindness Saw through the shadow of my soul The work is finished, the end is written Jesus Christ, my Living Hope

Who could imagine so great a mercy? What heart could fathom such boundless grace? The God of ages stepped down from glory To wear my sin and bear my shame. The cross has spoken, I am forgiven. The King of kings calls me His own. 22 Beautiful Savior, I’m Yours forever. Jesus Christ, my Living Hope

Hallelujah! Praise the One who set me free! Hallelujah! Death has lost its grip on me. You have broken ev’ry chain, there’s salvation in Your name Jesus Christ, my Living Hope

Then came the morning that sealed the promise. Your buried body began to breathe. Out of the silence, the roaring Lion Declared the grave has no claim on me Jesus, Yours is the victory!

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 3:23 “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 3:10 “As it is written, ‘None is righteous, no, not one’.”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 10:13 “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

To come to Christ, you must admit that you are a sinner, ask Jesus to forgive your sins, and give your life to Him. I am praying that if you have never trusted Jesus as your Savior, you will talk to your mom or dad or church leader more about giving your life to Christ. If you need help knowing exactly what to say to Jesus, you may follow the pattern below. It is not just praying “a prayer,” but having Faith in Jesus Christ and being sincere in your heart that you want to repent of your sins and knowing that only the Savior can help you do so. You have my promise that it will be the best decision you ever made.

Romans 10:9-10 “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

Admit to God that you are a sinner. Believe in your heart that Jesus died and rose again. Confess & repent of your sins and ask Jesus’ forgiveness and ask HIM to be Lord of your life.

23 Have you truly repented of your sins and asked Jesus Christ to be Lord of your life?

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the Gospel—that You died for our sins, were buried, and rose again to give us eternal HOPE. Let Your Word speak to hearts and draw people to You. May our musical bring You honor and glory and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

25 Today!

Oh give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; EK 5 make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to WE Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works! PSALM 105:1 & 2

Read Luke 2:15-20 15 When the angels had gone away from them into DAY 1 heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger.

Did the shepherds do what our memory verse says? ______When did the shepherds glorify and praise God? ______(Hint: the name of our song!) We learned last week that the shepherds went immediately to see Jesus. What line in our song would the shepherds have been able to say? (you may need to look at the lyrics in the back of this book) ______

The Angels said, “There is born to you ______….a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

When should we do what our memory verse says? ______

What are you doing TODAY to give thanks to the Lord? What are you doing TODAY to make known God’s works to everyone? Will you sing to Him TODAY?

Dear Jesus, Thank You for giving me the ability to sing praises to Your name. Thank You for giving me a place to live, food to eat, a wonderful church that teaches me God’s Word. Thank You for the Bible; thank You that I can pray to You anytime. Please help me TODAY to do what You want me to do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

26 Matthew 4:18-22 18 Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He DAY 2 saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He *said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 21 Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.

Peter, Andrew, James and John did not wait until “tomorrow” to follow Jesus. What word (adverb) tells when and how these four men followed? ______

The first verse of our song says,“People don’t worry about the things you leave behind; my Lord says, ‘Get up and go!’ this is the time to follow.” Peter, Andrew, James and John did not worry about what they were leaving—their fishing nets, their families. They did not tell the Lord that they were not old enough, or they had not learned enough spiritual lessons. They immediately followed!

There will come a time in your life that God is going to call you to do something that you have never done before. How will you answer Him? Start practicing NOW to be a follower of Jesus—someone who shows “Immediate Obedience!” There are instructions in God’s word that tell us what He wants you to do right now. Can you name some of them? ______

Dear Jesus, Thank You for teaching me how to follow You. Please help me to love others the way You want me to love, to obey my parents and teachers like I should, and to read my Bible and pray every day. Please help me to be faithful to church so I can learn more about You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

27 Isaiah 43:18&19 18 “Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder DAY 3 things of the past. 19 “Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.

In the musical, we meet a girl named Hope who has not heard about Jesus’ love and why He was born as a baby. Friends tell Hope about Jesus and she accepts Christ as her Savior. Once we are saved, is that it? Do we need to do anything else or do we just live out our life however we want? {Don’t misunderstand—we do not need to do anything else to be saved. Remember, we learned in Romans 10:9-10 that to be saved we repent and confess our sins, believe that Jesus died and rose again, and receive Him into our heart. It is only by grace that we are saved through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).}

In Isaiah 43:19 God said, “I will do a new thing!” Once you have Jesus in your heart, you are a new creation (II Corinthians 5:17). We sing this song (“TODAY!”) after Hope receives Jesus into her heart. This gets us thinking about what we are “to do with Jesus” once we are a new creation! What does our memory verse say? Then let’s do it!

But, after salvation there are things that others can see and we show that we are God’s child. Read Galatians 5:22 & 23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Have you become a new creation in Christ? If not, go back to week 4 and talk to your parents or teachers at church. Those who are new creations in Christ, are you ready for Christ to “do a new thing” in you? Every day God wants to do something in your life. The Bible says in Lamentations that God’s mercies are new every morning! Live today expecting God to do something wonderful in your life and let Him use you! It may be as simple as saying a kind word to someone or sharing a smile. It may be that you get to share Jesus with someone. Look for opportunities for God to use you.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for making all things new. Thank You for the new thing You are going to do in our Kingdom Kidz musical. Please help all that we do honor and glorify You. I pray that people will believe and receive You at our musical. Please help me to invite as many people as I can. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

28 John 10:10, 27-29 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; DAY 4 I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.

Who does Jesus say hears His voice? ______What do they do when they hear His voice? ______

Part of our song says, “My Lord says there’s joy for those who hear His voice and follow.”

What does John 10:10 say that Jesus has come to give us? ______

Do you think that qualifies as ‘having joy’ for those that follow Jesus? ______

Joy is different from happiness. Being happy is determined by what is happening in our lives. Having joy comes from knowing Jesus and being in His will. Remember, we keep talking about God having a perfect plan for our life? When we are following God’s plan, we will have joy even if we go through a difficult time.

Get a colored pencil and “color/highlight” these verses in your Bible: Nehemiah 8:10b; Psalm 16:11; Jeremiah 15:16; Luke 15:10; John 15:11; John 16:22&24; Romans 14:17; Romans 15:13; II Corinthians 7:4; Galatians 5:22; Hebrews 13:17.

These are only a few of the verses in the Bible that talk about joy. In one search I did for “joy” in the Bible, there were 211 verses!!!! Do you think God wants us to know about joy? He wouldn’t put that many verses in His word if He didn’t want us to get the message! Like Jesus said, He came so that we would have abundant life! (If you don’t understand that word, have an older sibling or mom or dad or teacher explain.) Our song is a song of joy and a song of worship and praise that we have a Savior to follow! TODAY!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for coming to bring abundant life. Thank You for the joy that only You can give. Please help me to follow You. Please help me to be joyful in You even when things are tough in life. Thank You for having a perfect plan for my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

29 Review Days 1- 4.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for making TODAY a new day to serve You. Thank You that Your mercies are new TODAY. Please help me do what You want me to do TODAY. Help me to love others TODAY the way You love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

30 Little Drummer Boy

6 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ EEK Jesus for good works, which God prepared W beforehand that we should walk in them. EPHESIANS 2:10

Psalm 33:3 Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. DAY 1 Psalm 40:3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD. Psalm 96:1 Sing to the LORD a new song; Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Psalm 98:1 O sing to the LORD a new song, For He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.

These verses have something in common. What phrase (two words) do they all use? ______We talked about once a person is saved they are a new creation. That also means God puts a “new song” in their mouth or heart. I remember when I became a believer. I had professed to be saved for many years, but when I truly realized my sin and my need for a Savior and gave my heart to Christ, the next time I sang, it was like a brand new song! God truly put a new song in my mouth!

In our musical, we have two segments (parts). The first segment is about salvation—we tell the people the Christmas story and why Jesus came to earth and how to be saved. This is pictured by Hope getting saved. The second segment is about worship. After we are saved, we are to worship God; we are to sing a new song.

During the summer, we learned that there are many venues to showing Jesus our worship. But where does worship start? (hint: rhymes with start”) ______

Read John 4:23-24 23 But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” True worshipers will worship how? ______

Are you a new creation? Has God put a new song in your mouth? Start now preparing your heart for worship on the night of the musical. Ask God to make your heart clean and pure as you are on the stage worshiping Him. Be sure that you worship in spirit and in Truth!

31 Dear Jesus, Thank You for giving me a new song to sing. Thank You for giving us instruments to play for You. Please help me to be totally surrendered to You, Jesus. I want You to have all of me so that I can worship You in spirit and in truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Mark 12:41-44 41 And He sat down opposite the treasury, and began DAY 2 observing how the people were putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums. 42 A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent. 43 Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on.”

“The Little Drummer Boy” is a song that tells a story about a little boy who wanted to worship Jesus and wanted to give Him a gift, but he was very poor. He could not buy an expensive gift and bring it to Jesus like the Magi did. All he had was a drum. The story tells of the little boy going to play his drum for Jesus because that is all he had. This is a picture of what Jesus wants from us—He wants us just to give Him all that we have! He wants our heart! When Jesus has our heart, He has all of us!

Do you see a similarity in the little drummer boy and the widow in the Bible. Even though the song of the drummer boy is “just a song” it gives us a good picture of how we are to come to Jesus. In the Bible, what does verse 44 tell us the widow gave? ______

Jesus gave us “all He had” when He gave His life to die on the cross for our sins. Shouldn’t we be willing to give our lives back to Jesus to live for Him? Living for Jesus is a very small “Thank You” for Him dying for us.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Thank You for making a way for me to spend forever with You in Heaven. Please help me to be willing to live my life for You. Please help me to always want to do what You want me to do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

32 Ephesians 2:4-10 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love DAY 3 with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

WOW! Those verses are exciting! By God’s ______we are saved. Notice three special words about God—MERCY, LOVE, KINDNESS. God wants everyone to be saved. That is why He made it a GIFT! Gifts are free, yes? We do not have to work for them, nor do we have to deserve them. People give gifts out of love and kindness! God gives us the gift of salvation FREE to all who will receive!

Look at verse 10. What does God call us? ______That word literally means “masterpiece” or “work of art.” Say that phrase replacing the word “we” with your name …. “ ______is God’s workmanship/masterpiece/WORK of ART!”

Look at the next phrase. Why are we created (in Christ Jesus [that is the “new creation” we talked about earlier])? ______God wants us to do good things for Him.

Look at the last phrase. Another way to say that is “God planned for us a long time ago.” Remember the first song we sing? Remember Week 1’s memory verse? Jeremiah 29:11 God has a ______. God has you on this earth for a very specific plan!

Keep thinking about verse 10—you are God’s MASTERPIECE! DO NOT FORGET THAT!!!! No matter what anyone ever says to you that is not nice, or says about you, what matters is what God says! God does NOT lie! When you have Jesus in your heart, you are God’s new creation, “His workmanship created in Christ Jesus.” (Do you get the point?)

Dear Jesus, Thank You for Your mercy, love, and kindness. Thank You for making salvation a free gift. Thank You for making me be Your masterpiece. Please help me to treat others as Your work of art; help me to love others the way You love them. Please help me to live my life the way You have planned for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

33 Psalm 150 1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in DAY 4 His mighty expanse. 2 Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness. 3 Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. 4 Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. 5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!

We are told many times throughout the Bible to “Praise the Lord!” This Psalm gives us a specific way to praise the Lord. What is one word that we can use to praise the Lord? (hint: verse 3-5 are all in this category) ______

We have a beautiful orchestra in our church that plays all these instruments. What about people who cannot afford beautiful instruments or do not have access to instruments. How can they praise the Lord? ______

In the second segment of our musical, we tell the story about a missionary in Africa who is on his way to a worship service. He is walking with a young boy named Pabo (Pah-bo). Pabo finds a tin can and a stick and begins to beat on it constantly. The missionary is annoyed by the constant “rat- a-tat-tat” until Pabo sees the church and begins running. He tells the missionary he is going to go play for Jesus! What kind of instrument do you think Pabo made to play for Jesus? ______

Was Pabo doing what is told in Psalm 150? ______Where have you learned that worship starts? ______Do you think Pabo had figured this out? ______

There is another similarity in the story of Pabo and the scripture we read in Week 4. Pabo was a child who wanted to worship Jesus. Psalm 148:12 tells us that “both young men and maidens (girls), old men and children” are to “praise the name of the Lord.” God wants YOU to praise Him!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for giving us so many ways to praise You. Thank You for my voice, thank You for instruments that I can use to sing a new song and praise You. Please help me in the musical to praise You and worship You with my whole heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

34 Review Days 1- 4.

Dear Jesus, Thank You once again for loving me so much that You came as a child to earth, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross and rose again, so that we could have a home in Heaven. Please help me to always trust You like a child, and to share with others Your love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

35 We Worship You

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true EK 7 worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and WE truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. JOHN 4:23

This week may be a little more “intense” because of the importance of the subject! We cannot, we dare not sing about worshiping Jesus, without understanding true worship. Parents, please help younger Kingdom Kidz with some of the terminology used.

Romans 11:36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

John 4:23-24 23 But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true DAY 1 worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

TRUE WORSHIP: True worship begins with a relationship with God. We have learned that when we place our trust in Jesus, we become a new creation. Will we still sin? ______We must confess our sins (I John 1:9) and worship with a clean heart.

While looking up Bible verses about worship, I noticed a phrase in nearly every verse: “bowed down and worshiped.” In nearly every instance of worship, there was the act of bowing. Bowing down is a symbol of being humbled.

Read Psalm 95:6 Come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.

We should be and must be humble in order to truly worship Jesus. Worship is making “less of myself” and “more of Jesus.”

Something else that is included in worship is an offering or sacrifice. Read I Chronicles 16:29 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him; Worship the LORD in holy array.

In Leviticus 1-7 (do not have to read), the Children of Israel were given different types of offerings/sacrifice to bring to the Lord. When we worship, we are to offer something to the Lord. What are some of the “offerings” we give? ______

36 Are you a “true worshiper” ~ or have you just thought worship was just singing or praying or raising hands? If you do not learn anything else this week, it is my prayer that you will understand that true worship must start in your heart. The “way” we worship is only the “expression” (showing) of what is in our heart. The Bible says that people look at what we do (the outside) but God looks at the heart!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for teaching me about true worship. Thank You for the Bible. Please help me learn how to truly worship You. Please help me to always give my best to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Isaiah 29:13 Then the Lord said, “Because this people draw near with DAY 2 their words and honor Me with their lip service, but they remove their hearts far from Me, and their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote,

Matthew 15:8 & 9 8‘THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. 9 ‘BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.’”

Mark 7:6 & 7 6And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. 7 ‘BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.’

FALSE WORSHIP: The Bible also gives us a warning how not to worship. Did you notice anything about the three scriptures? ______

When God puts the exact same thing in the Bible more than once, He must really want us to get it. God gave a warning in the book of Isaiah, then Matthew & Mark repeated it! The people ______Me with their ______, but their ______is ______from Me. And in ______they ______Me. The word “vain” means unsuccessful, useless, foolish, silly.

If our heart is “far from God” then we cannot truly worship Him. I believe it is dangerous to pretend to be something we are not. It doesn’t do anybody any good.

37 Every time we talk about worship, think about your heart? Is it “close” to God? Or is there sin that you have not asked God to forgive? Did you know that sin separates us from God? That is why every day we must ask God’s forgiveness and ask Him to make our hearts clean. Even when we are saved, we will sin because we are not perfect—only Jesus lived a perfect life. Asking God to forgive us when we sin, helps our hearts to stay close to God.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for loving me so much that You forgive me when I ask You. [ask Jesus to forgive you of any sin you may have in your heart now] Thank You for forgiveness. Please help me to keep my heart close to You so that I can worship You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Psalm 2:11 DAY 3 [NASB] Worship the LORD with reverence and rejoice with trembling. [NKJV] Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Luke 4:8 [NASB] Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’” [NKJV] And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

Romans 12:1 [NASB] Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. [NKJV] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

LIFE OF WORSHIP: These verses show us another important part of true worship. The word “worship” is translated as “worship” or “service.” True worship also includes service. That is why it is important to be involved in our church, as well as helping others in our community (neighborhood, schools, etc.) According to Romans 12:1 our life is to be a “living sacrifice.” I Corinthians 10:31 tells us to “do everything to the glory of God!” Colossians 3:17 tells us to “do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!”

Other things that are part of worship include prayer, praise, thanksgiving, giving, confession, preaching and teaching, and reading scripture.

38 Is your life a life of worship? Do you try every day to “do everything to the glory of God?” Even when we have to do things we may not necessarily like to do—clean our room, wash dishes, dust, and other chores—we are to do them “all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!” Remember that God is not as concerned with what we do but how we do it. I Samuel 15:22 says that “to obey is better than sacrifice” (give something).

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the instruction You give me for how to live. Please help me do everything for Your honor and glory and to do all things in Your Name. Please help me to worship You every day through reading my Bible, praying, and confessing my sin. Help me to be thankful for all You give me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Ephesians 5:19-20 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and DAY 4 spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;

I Chronicles 16:29 Ascribe [give] to the LORD the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him; Worship the LORD in holy array.

I Chronicles 25:1 & 6 Moreover, David and the commanders of the army set apart for the service some of the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun, who were to prophesy with lyres, harps and cymbals; and the number of those who performed their service was… 6 All these were under the direction of their father to sing in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, harps and lyres, for the service of the house of God.

MUSIC IN WORSHIP: How are we commanded in Ephesians to speak to one another? ______, ______, and ______. All three of these types of music are to be used in worship. That is why we try to sing all three types in Kingdom Kidz choir. What does I Chronicles 16:29 tell us to give the Lord? ______. That is what we plan to do on musical night! We want to demonstrate what we are to do once we have Jesus in our hearts. Salvation is only the beginning of a life that is created to glorify God! (Isaiah 43:7) We are to worship God!

As we have learned, worship involves different things. We will be demonstrating several ways to worship in the musical. What are some of those ways? ______

39 Hopefully, we will be able to sing, dance, play instruments, speak, quote scripture, and pray. Even the artwork we see on stage can be an expression of worship. The entire time, you should be “bowing down in worship” in your heart! What is in your heart will be expressed in the way you sing and the expression on your face! The worship that is in your heart will motivate your actions (cause you to do the things you do).

We have several different “venues” of worship in our own church. They include but are not limited to: Pastor, Worship Pastor, Choir, Orchestra, Media (sound, cameras, lights), the Ushers, the Nursery workers, the Sunday School teachers, Communications (they do the artwork for our posters and weekly bulletin), those who decorate, those who clean, dramas (Passion Play, Children’s musicals) during the year, and those who manage the money and give to missions. There are many, many, many “looks” to worship; but we must remember that true worship begins in the heart! We must be humbled and God must be glorified!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for giving me so many different ways to worship You. Thank You for all the people in our church who use the gifts and talents You have given them to worship You. Please help me to worship You every day, and to do what You want me to do. Thank You for the opportunity to worship You and to show others true worship in our Children’s Musical. I pray that people will give their lives to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Review Days 1- 4. What did God teach you this week? What can you DAY 5 apply (put into your life) to your life from this week’s devos? ______

Write out this week’s HOPE Scripture (from memory if possible). ______

40 Think about what you have learned. The Bible says we are to “meditate” on God’s Word day and night. Meditate means to consider or think over carefully, to spend time in quiet thinking.

Mrs. Teri’s thoughts: I told you this week would be intense. Please forgive me if we got too “technical” or complicated. I truly believe it is worth the time to invest as we teach our children about true worship. It is important that they learn at a young age and not grow up with a false sense of worship. I absolutely mean it when I say that we are in danger if we are pretending! We must be prayed up and be able to stand before God with a clean and humble heart to worship Him.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for showing me in Your Word that true worship is having a clean and humble heart. Please help me to always be a true worshiper and not a pretender. Help me to be a good testimony of a true worshiper to others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

41 King of Glory

The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, EK 8 will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, WE He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. ZEPHANIAH 3:17 (NKJV)

Read the following scriptures and determine “over what” is Jesus the DAY 1 King!

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth ►► King of ______

Psalm 22:28 For the kingdom is the LORD’S And He rules over the nations. ►► King of ______

Acts 7:49 ‘HEAVEN IS MY THRONE, AND EARTH IS THE FOOTSTOOL OF MY FEET; WHAT KIND OF HOUSE WILL YOU BUILD FOR ME?’ says the Lord, ‘OR WHAT PLACE IS THERE FOR MY REPOSE?’ ►► King of ______

Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” ►► King of ______

Psalm 24:8 Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle. ►► King of ______

I John 4:8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. ►► King of ______

These are the praises we sing in our song. There is one more phrase that says, “ever the King of my Heart!” Is Jesus truly the King of your heart? Does He have first place? If not, what do you need to do to make Him King?

Dear Jesus, Thank You for being the King of Kings. Thank You for creation, and for salvation. Please help me to make sure that I prepare “room in my heart” for You during this Christmas Season. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

42 Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And DAY 2 the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

As our song asks, and Isaiah tell us, Who is this King of Glory? He is: ______

Our “HOPE” verse refers to the Lord our God as the ______who ______us.

Read Philippians 2:9. Who “else” is the King of Glory (or what name is given)? ______

All these names of Jesus are in our song we sing at the end of the program! What a great way to end the night! Singing about the Lord Jesus – King of Glory, King of Love!

Think about all these names of Jesus. Whenever you are sad, He is your Comforter. Whenever you don’t know what to do, He is your Counselor. Whenever we are learning from the Bible, He is our Master, our Teacher. He is your Salvation. When life gets crazy, He is your Prince of Peace. He is the Ever Faithful Father who will never leave us or forsake us. Praise Him and thank Him for Who He is!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for being Creator, the Ancient of Days, my Wonderful Savior, my Comforter and Counselor. Thank You Jesus for being my Prince of Peace, the One Who is Mighty to save, the Everlasting Father, Master, the Name above all Names. Thank You Lord Jesus for being the King of kings and Lord of lords. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Zephaniah 3:17 [NKJV] The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty DAY 3 One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

What verbs are used in this scripture? God will ______, will ______, and will ______. When the word “will” is used, that is a promise!

43 I love the thought that “God will sing over me.” We should think about that more often. “He will rejoice over you with gladness and singing.” Do you and I please God with our lives so that He wants to rejoice and sing? I sure hope so. I do know that sometimes when I am sad, or discouraged, or even upset, God will “quiet me with His love.” Have you ever been calmed by the fact that God loves you. Be sure to take time this week to THANK God for His love.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the promise to save. Thank You for Your love. Thank You for all the blessings You give me each day. Please help me to be thankful. Please help my life to please You so that You will rejoice over me with gladness and singing. Help me to listen for Your voice. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is DAY 4 God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

I John 4:10, 11 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

“Joy to the world the Lord has come. Let earth receive her King. Let every heart prepare Him room. No more let sin and sorrow grow; nor thorns infest the ground. He comes to make His blessings flow far as the earth is found.”

God promised to send a Savior. As Deuteronomy says, He is the faithful God. How does I John 4 tells us that God loves us? ______Love is not us loving God, it’s because He loves us. Without God, there is no love.

Because of God’s love we can sing, Joy to the world! Hallelujah! This King of Glory is our King of Love!!!!

Think about all you have learned about God’s love for you, that He has a perfect plan for your life, He sent Jesus to save us from our sins, He has taught us how to worship Him, how He values you, He calls you His “masterpiece,” His “work of art.” Those are just a few of the things we have learned over the last eight weeks. When we sing this song during the Finale of the musical, think about all God has done – it will not be hard to sing this song from your heart and with a passion if God is truly your KING!!!!!

44 Dear Jesus, Thank You for coming to this earth as a child. Thank You for dying on the cross to pay for all my sins. Thank You for making me in Your image; thank You for the value You place on children. Please help me to share Your love with others so that they will come to our musical and be saved. I pray for all the people who come that they would truly worship You this Christmas. Please help me to be a true worshiper. Help me to sing to You as my King. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Review Days 1- 4. What did God teach you this week? What can you DAY 5 apply (put into your life) to your life from this week’s devos? ______

Write out this week’s HOPE Scripture (from memory if possible). ______

Think about what you have learned. The Bible says we are to “meditate” on God’s Word day and night. Meditate means to consider or think over carefully, to spend time in quiet thinking.

Mrs. Teri’s thoughts: Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me…for such is the kingdom of God.” I couldn’t help but wonder if He said that because Heaven is full of children. Does that mean in Heaven we will all be like children? The Bible does not tell us…it’s one of those things we will find out when we get there. Will YOU be there?

Dear Jesus, Thank You for loving me so much that You came as a child to earth, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross and rose again, so that we could have a home in Heaven. Please help me to always trust You like a child, and to share with others Your love. I pray for our Christmas musical. Please help many people from our church and our community to come hear the amazing message of HOPE that is only found in YOU. Please help me to worship You from my heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
