Really, no response about the lack of oldies, but a very noticeable surge in requests for the hot new songs. Plus, it's fun to be on the air again...Very heavy requests, all ages, for the Styx single. Their image isn't as wimpy as we think... The other hot phone item is the Journey Lp. All comments very supportive. Smith's drums and Schon's guitars are right up front with Perry's vocals. Perfect chemistry and perfect timing...97POCK's concert with Missing Persons is sold out and 'Spring Session M' is selling To 10. Can't wait to see Dale's coconut shell brassiere...More sex and rock and roll--Berlin. A cautious add. We'll closely moiiitor phones on this one...Very happy to get back on the 'Night And Day' album. Wanted to go for 'Real Men', but had to settle for 'Another World'. Please come to Buffalo, Joe!!!" KZOK, SEATTLE, WA M.D.-CRAIG MARTIN: "Maybe tus is the Journey album that should have been titled 'Departure', because compared to their last couple of albums, it's definitely that. • As far as reaching new 'frontiers', I'm not sure. What I do know is this is the first Journey album to show that these guys can rock and roll. It comes as no surprise to anyone familiar with the band. We were just wondering if they ever would rock again after finding success in MOR heaven, hut they're rockin' on 'Frontiers'. The single 'Separate Ways', 'Chain Reaction', 'Rubicon', and 'Back Talk' all kick ass; and, the overall feel of the album has a lot more guts to it than anything they've ever done...Eric Clapton opened his North American tour in Seattle last night at the Paramount Theater, a beautiful old 3,000-seatter that was the perfect setting to see Clapton. Eric and his band, featuring Duck Dunn, was fantastic as they went through a set of post-Cream material. Pll the hits were there, including 'Layla' and 'Let It Rain', as well as a good dose of material from the new album. Eric is such a great guitarist, he makes it look easy. That may be the only criticism of him. Maybe if he were just a little flashier he might be able to reach a younger audience. I'm sure Eric's not worried about it because his audience is already pretty large. And if you're a part of it, you'll enjoy 'Money And Cigarettes' and you won't want to miss him when he hits your town, especially if he's playing a smaller hall (like he did here in Seattle). Eddie Van Halen would have left the place drooling." KQAK, SAN FRANCISCO, CA P.D.-BELLE NOLAN: "Just when I was starting to dry out from the Convention-- Pow-ee, rain, rain, and more rain. Guess that's one way to get things growing here in the Bay Area, including the nurturing of some very happening artists...Tonio K. Capitol, my faith in you has been renewed. You have reserviced radio with a few spicy Tonio K. offerings from his mini album. Don't drop the ball there, work that sucker to death. Ecstatic to find out that 'I Handle Snakes' will be on the next Tonio K. Capitol release, but whoa--not yet. Let's get back to his latest project first... Robert Hazard's 'Escalator Of Life' is an absolutely irresistible tune and prompts our staff to respond in chanting...Here's one fan who definitely misses the patter of Little Feat. Nice to have Paul Barerre carrying on the tradition.. .Had a chance to listen to the U2 thanks to Michael Abramson. They' ve refined their sound to meet rock radio's new criteria, yet have maintained their integrity as first-rate musicians. It's great watching this band grow...Duran Duran must be the fastest burning record we've ever seen here at the KQAK. It's a direct result of heavy airplay on five stations and oversaturation on MTV...On the other hand, The B'zz could be the fastest growing tune on AOR. Monster city...Here comes the 'fess up'. Even though I've admired their organization and have nothing personal against the band, Journey has not been one of my favorite rock groups. But geez, who could deny the power and impact of 'Frontiers'? I'm especially partial to 'Send Her My Love'--a smooth, sensual, mature-sounding love song. For our smoker, we'll take 'Edge Of The Blade' in addition to 'Separate Ways'. Thanks, Journey, for sparing me the wrinkles...Added the Heaven 17 and also the wry Randy Newman...Can't wait for the Marty Balin. He'll give you the Airplane sound that Starship couldn't without him." WBCN, BOSTON, MA M.D.-MARC MILLER: "To Hugh Munoz at The Channel regarding last week's comments: If you would get the shit out of your ears and turn on the radio and stop looking at charts, you'd realize that you didn't know what you were talking about. As it happens, Culture Club's 'Do You Really Want To Hurt Me' has been the most played song at WBCM for the past five weeks, and that's how long the record has been out. We also added Duran Duran out-of-the-box the first time. And, if you would stop being so damn elitist, you might like Red Rider and Sammy Hagar...Fnough name calling, now onto the music...The Simple Minds records sounds great on the radio. Check out: 'Glittering Prize'...And don't miss the Thomas Dolby Lp...Album of the week goes to: Journey. KDF's airplay of 'I Love It Loud' obviously had a lot to do with it, because I hear the concert isn't selling well in markets with no new airplay on Kiss. It worked well for all concerned here...The Bryan Adams album is loaded with killer cuts. Singling out one to play is impossible, so we went with two, and I'd like to play everything on Side One before the year is out. It's time this 'unknown' Canadian talent got the plantinum reception he deserves... The Journey album is strange. Why is Steve Perry's voice buried in the mix? They then purchased cologne and a ring using the certificates. Later the same evening, they returned to exchange the ring for a cash refund. Security was called and the two were arrested. They were charged with uttering and publishing for their use of the gift certificates. “Although defendant presented ‘facially valid’ gift certificates, defendant’s fraudulent acts induced the creation of the gift certificates. Thus, the gift certificates purported to be legally valid instruments, the presentment of which would entitle defendant to valuable goods and services. However, defendant had no legal right to own, present, or convert the gift certificates into valuable goods and services. Nevertheless, defendant presented the gift certificates to the J.C. Penney store clerk, thus asserting their genuineness, knowing that the instruments were fraudulently acquired, and demanded goods to which he was not entitled and for which liability in someone other than defendant might have been created if defendant could have accomplished his illegal purpose. Du Bois' theory of double consciousness, can be taken on by those who are White. I analyze songs both written and covered by Eric Clapton, to examine if elements of double consciousness are in his music. Furthermore, I analyze album covers that have Clapton's image on them, looking for characteristics of physical Blackness.     Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.
