Lovisa is an envi- ronmental economist and has worked for Fores since 2015. Within in the 2030-secretariat (www.2030-sekretariatet.se) for a fossil independent transport sector, with more than 50 industrial partners, Lovisa is responsible for the behaviour-aspect, fo- cusing on modal shifts and IT solutions that can replace physical transports. Lovisa is also a much liked moderator and con- ference leader. Sara Kymenvaara is a doctoral candidate of climate law at Aalto University in Finland, and is writing her doctoral the- sis on the effectiveness of national climate law from the perspectives of the Finnish and Swedish jurisdictions. As a part of her research, Sara completed a consultancy project on climate law in the Finnish transport sector as 1st author of a report drafted for the Ministry of the Environment in Finland. She graduated with a Master of Laws from Lund University, Sweden, after which she has worked as an associate lawyer of a Helsinki-based law firm, providing advice in environmental and en- ergy related regulatory matters in connection with large-scale mergers and acquisitions. Jakob Lagercrantz started his professional career in the recently founded Greenpeace Sweden in 1984. He left as the Director of Greenpeace Sweden. Currently, he works for his own consultancy firm. He was appointed the Chairman of the influential organization the Swedish Organization of Green Motorists. After leaving GM he co-founded the 2030 secretar- iat, an industrial NGO devoted at achieving a fossil fuels independent transport sector in Sweden by 2030, as well as advis- ing the Swedish Government on decarbonisation policies. Ronald J. Pohoryles is Chairman of the board of directors of the ICCR Foundation and ass. Prof. for comparative political systems, experienced in social science research for more than 35 years. His research expertise covers European integration emphasising public policy analysis, science and technology with emphasis on internationalisation, green economy & environment and integrated assessment of technologies. Jordan Yankov is the Director “Research Projects” of Public Policy Institute. He has expertise in energy strategy anal- ysis, nuclear innovations, and emerging renewable technologies. He has academic and professional interest in modelling of complex social systems, as well political and economic prognoses. Aleksander Aristovnik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Sector Economics at the Faculty of Public Administration and in the Department of International Economics at the Faculty of Economics (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia). Additionally, he is a director of Zavod 14, a social liberal non-for-profit organization.     PROMOTION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY IN PRIMORSKA ThE LONGEST SOLAR NOISE BARRIER LONGEST SOLAR NOISE BARRIER IN SlOVENIA The project consists of three parts: first, a 600-me- tre long noise barrier along the motorway to Italy is being equipped with solar panels. This photovoltaic installation – the longest solar noise barrier in Slove- nia – will supply 46 households with electrical power. HEATING WITH BIOMASS The second project component is the use of biomass for heating in 32 selected public buildings. For this purpose, 14 oil heating systems will be replaced by biomass boilers. Among the 32 buildings are schools and kindergartens with nearly 2,000 children as well as two information centres in Triglav National Park which are visited by 45,000 people every year. The drivers of electricity prices and electricity consumption are investigated. The Slovenian electricity markets are analyzed in relation with the European Energy Exchange (EEX) market. Associations between electricity prices on the one hand, and primary energy prices, variation in air temperature, daily maximum electricity power, and cross-border grid prices on the other hand, are analyzed separately for industrial and household consumers. Monthly data are used in a regression analysis during the period of Slovenia’s electricity market deregulation and price liberalization. Empirical results show that electricity prices achieved in the EEX market were significantly associated with primary energy prices. In Slovenia, the prices for daily maximum electricity power were significantly associated with electricity prices achieved on the EEX market. The increases in electricity prices for households, however, cannot be explained with developments in electricity prices on the EEX market. As the period analyzed is the stage of market deregulation and price liberalization, this can have important policy implications for the countries that still have regulated and monopolized electricity markets. In spite of some efforts made to change the sources of electrical energy, not significant shifts from traditional non-renewable fossil sources of electrical energy to renewable sources of electrical energy are found. Electricity supply from water resources is dependent on natural conditions, but it is particularly biased on the adverse weather conditions. The changing weather conditions between raining and sunshine periods are a reason for the needs to diversify supply of electrical energy from hydro renewable sources of energy to a combination with solar energy and co-production of energy from biomass and other renewable sources of energy. There is a need for changes in green electrical energy supply not only towards hydro resources, but particularly towards other renewable sources of electrical energy such as solar, biomass, thermal water, wind and biogas energy. In addition, there is also a uranium mine and mill in the decommissioning stage at Žirovski vrh. The geographical locations of the nuclear and radiation facilities are given in the figure below. The Republic of Slovenia has no facility for final disposal of radioactive waste or spent nuclear fuel, however the site for LILW repository has been approved.
