Lot Type Grading Description Est $A QUEENSLAND - Envelopes - Stamped to Order This class of Postal Stationery is also called by the less-accurate expression "Printed to Private Order" (PTPO). Alan Griffiths, at page 103, states "the incidence of genuinely used examples is very limited". 541 PS A- 1897 Four Figures 2d blue HG KB5 with Mount Morgan Gold Mining Co embossing on the flap, used Rockhampton to Toowoomba (b/s). 100T QUEENSLAND - Postal Stationery - Postal Cards

Lot 565 565 PS B 1891 Bradbury Wilkinson Head 2d blue 'VIA DIRECT ROUTE' HG 5 to "Trinity College/Oxford" with BN '114' & 'NORMANTON' cds of JA8/89, 'THURSDAY ISLAND' transit b/s, minor blemishes. [Social message to the writer's uncle: "...I believe you have a river in or near the town of Oxford. Are there any alligators in it? We have plenty here..." Of course, the writer was referring to crocodiles in Australia] 250T QUEENSLAND - Postal Stationery - Wrappers

Lot 622 622 D A- 1891 Lined Background ½d green as HG E1 but with the Stamp Impression below & Aligned with the Right-Hand Side of the Text piece (125x67mm) with 'The NORTH QUEENSLAND/MINING ANNUAL' Overprint in Red, to "Hon Baden Powell/House of Commons/London" with worn strike of GB '[crown]/R' postal inspector's h/s. [The first issue was available from 25.11.1891 but was authorised only from 1.1.1892, when the ½d Newspaper Rate was introduced]

The stock is most unusual, being of superior quality and highly surfaced on the face, unlike any other Queensland wrapper we have encountered. This raises the possibility that this is a previously unrecognised Stamped-to-Order issue and not just an overprint on a Post Office-issue wrapper. 100T - Travelling Post Offices From the extensive collections formed by John Booker in England; see also separate sections under the other Colonies/States (except WA, which was offered in our previous auction held on 1.12.2019) and check the Cross Reference on pages 177-179 for those lotted elsewhere.
