HESKETH HOUSE NEWSLETTER 4 OCTOBER 2019 A note from the Head… Bolton League Chess Monday 30 September, Park Road The Charity Representatives and School Council presented our Harvest Festival Assembly this week, with the help of special guests Mrs Clare Harrison and Mr Samuel Bagley. Clare asked us to think about ourselves and what we were thankful for in our lives. She also reminded us that what is on the inside of a person is much more important than what we see on the outside. She used a bit of magic to cut open a dirty and horrible looking potato to reveal a £5 note inside! If you spot any fabulously, evocative words or phrases in newspapers and magazines about truth, lies, deception, fake or falsehoods, please cut them out, pop them in an envelope and send to School with your daughter for the attention of Mrs Worsley. The Wordle will be used as a large display in School over the coming weeks and will form part of our National Poetry Day Celebration . Thank you to our parent volunteers who provided excellent support throughout the visit. National Poetry Day Thursday 3 October On Thurdsay we celebrated National Poetry Day with a special assembly, the theme being ‘Truth’. This event celebrates its 25th anniversary and the nation’s love for poetry. To improve speaking and listening skills and to help instil a love for poetry, Sibling Photographs all pupils in school engaged in paired ACROSTIC Wednesday 16 October, 4.00pm Park Road poetry writing activities, based around the theme. HESKETH HOUSE NEWSLETTER 4 OCTOBER 2019 SPORT REPORT The girls all ran very well on what was a sunny, but rather windy day, at Rossall for the annual Bolton League Cross Country AJIS Cross Country Competition. Everyone tried Thursday 26 September – Moss Bank Park really hard and there were some excellent individual performances. A special mention to Abigail Carr who won the Year 5 race, gaining an AJIS Gold Medal, which is a wonderful achievement. Congratulations also to the Year 6 runners, who finished in third place overall, and picking up bronze team medals. Well done! Well done to our cross country team who once again performed very well in the Bolton League event last week. It was another brilliant first place for Georgia Clarkson and we achieved an excellent team score of 34. We are currently in first place in the competition; congratulations to all runners! We had two teams playing in our fixture against Alderley Edge and they provided us with two very exciting games.
