    ‘Eterno Agosto’ Alvaro Soler BY MARC BOGLIONI Alvaro Soler is a German-Spanish singer who was born in January 9, 1991 in Barcelona. Although he is Spanish, he passed most of his youth in Japan. He came back to Barcelona for university and there’s were he started performing. He created a band called Urban Lights with his brother and some of his friend. The band was considered to play indie pop, rock pop, British pop and electronic music. The band started releasing some material and they even self-produced an album. In 2014, he decided to leave Urban Lights, who are still playing nowadays, and decided to start a solo career. He had some German connections, his father is German, so was helped by many German artist when he released his first single “El Mismo Sol”, which is the first single of the album, and it was produced in Berlin. The song had a huge success, especially in Italy, which is the country were Alvaro Soler has more success, and due to the success of the song, he signed with Universal Music. In 2018, he released his second album “Mar de Colores” being “La Cintura” the most popular single of the album. He speaks 6 languages (Spanish, Catalan, German, Italian, English and Japanese) which really helped him to be well- known in many countries. He has been judge of Italy X Factor and did a song with the Colombian band Morat for Despicable Me 3. Eterno Agosto is Alvaro Soler’s first album in his solo career. I chose this album because I was thinking on doing my review on a Spanish singer.

März 2019 Stuttgart Porsche-Arena Mar de colores European Tour Live 2019 Auf den ersten Blick scheint die Sache recht einfach zu sein: ALVARO SOLER ist ein charmanter Spanier, dessen Debütalbum „Eterno Agosto“ sowie die Hits „Sofia“, „El Mismo Sol“ und „Yo Contigo, Tú Conmigo (The Gong Gong Song)“ weltweit über 30 Gold-, Platin- und Diamant-Awards abgeräumt haben. Er wurde für drei „Latin American Music Awards“ nominiert, seine Songs wurden allein bei Spotify knapp 390 Millionen Mal gestreamt und seinen YouTube-Kanal verfolgen täglich mehr als 1,7 Millionen hingerissene Fans. Schaut man aber etwas genauer hin, ist die Sache viel interessanter: er hat eine spanische Mutter und einen deutschen Vater und lebte sieben Jahre in Tokio, bevor er nach Barcelona zurückkehrt und erst mal ein Industriedesign-Studium hinlegt. 2015 zieht er nach Berlin und nimmt sein Solo-Debüt auf, das in Deutschland aus dem Stand in die Top 5 einsteigt, in Polen, der Schweiz und Italien Platz 1 knackt und sich auch im Rest von Europa Top-Chartplatzierungen sichert, während „Sofia“ in 17 Ländern souverän auf #1 geht und in 30 Ländern weltweit die Top 5 erreicht. Trotz dieser beeindruckenden Bilanz nimmt sich der 27-jährige Alvaro selbst gar nicht so ernst und legt es mit seinen Songs ganz und gar nicht auf den schnellen Ruhm an. Vielmehr geht es dem mehrsprachigen Weltenbummler darum, unterschiedliche Kulturen auf einem Dancefloor zusammenzubringen – mit ansteckenden Hooks und einer Prise Humor. Dass Selbstironie und Hitqualitäten bestens zusammenpassen, beweist Alvaro mit „La Cintura“, der ersten Single aus seinem im September erscheinenden zweiten Album „Mar de Colores“.
