Programme (Day One)

08:00 Registration and Coffee

09:00 Welcome and Introduction Professor Gautam Mitra, OptiRisk Systems/UCL (Programme Chair)

09:15 Opening Keynote: The Challenges of Emerging and Disruptive Technologies: Culture, People and Capability Alan Brown, University of Exeter Emerging and disruptive technologies are currently sweeping across all business sectors promising to revolutionize traditional business models, optimize the design and delivery of new goods and services, manage production systems more efficiently, redesign working practices and management principles, and much more. Aside from the technical challenges being addressed, the digital transformation they have inspired has driven a more fundamental management shift. To understand this, organizations are forced to shift perspective away from the specific technologies inherent in a digital world and towards the principles on which digitally- enabled organizations operate. This talk will discuss the challenges of digital transformation being experienced in industry today, describe some of the practical approaches being taken, and outline some of the key lessons that will shape your future.

09:45 How increased connectivity through IoT forces us to re-think how to do business in the future Christoph Burgdorfer, Asteria We're living in the area of connectivity. People and things are increasingly connected and "always-on". This has implications on how the very fabric of the world works in the future. We will look at how this new hyperconnected world will force us to shift our mindsets.
