He’s built the show into a family favourite and was thrilled to be honoured in Her Majesty’s New Year Honours list for his ’Services to Entertainment’. He enjoyed a fabulous day at Buckingham Palace in the Summer and is rightly proud of his medal. He decided to make Jack & The Beanstalk his last panto but, like any true stage pro he won’t stop working… so he’ll continue to write and perform, here and around the Midlands. We’ll continue to stage professional pantomimes here and the show will be ‘re-booted’ next year or as they say in Dr Who… regenerated! We’ll continue to welcome back our family audiences of all ages continuing our fantastic pantomime tradition here in Solihull. The Clissold Arms has always been well known to the fans as the home of the Kinks, as it was the site of the first ever live performance by Ray and Dave Davies, so that was the obvious place to meet up. About a dozen of us had a very pleasant evening in the saloon (now the main restaurant - the layout of the pub in those days was somewhat different) discussing all matters Kinks and examining the small area of wall that contained a few pieces of Kinks memorabilia and photos, and it became a regular feature of the Konvention weekend for those who had travelled to London on the Saturday to gather at the Clissold. Herman got his guitar out and started strumming and the rest of us happily sang along to a few Kinks classics.
