UFO WAVES: an INTERNATIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHY Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos FOTOCAT Project [email protected]
UFO WAVES: AN INTERNATIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHY Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos FOTOCAT Project [email protected] Introduction In the study of UFO phenomena there are several topics that emerge as key issues for the understanding and potential resolution of this worldwide enigma. The subject of UFO waves and UFO flaps is, evidently, one of these. Compiling bibliographies of research items has been a recurrent interest in my investigative life (1-7), as I have always thought that, as in mainstream science disciplines, progress is linked to the knowledge of prior work in the field. Those who ignore what their senior colleagues have produced on a given matter waste time duplicating past efforts or are unable to build upon previous finds. Over the years, the field of ufology has produced many authoritative bibliographies. With a few exceptions, these are general lists of literature, sometimes annotated, but usually not organized by topic (8-28). Nevertheless, these assist the researcher and represent an academic advancement. As I am committed to the concept of achieving a synthesis of knowledge in some of the main areas of the study of UFOs (29), I think a more pragmatic approach is to design a series of very specific, subject-focused bibliographies. As a practical example, I have combed through my files to create a thorough bibliography of articles and papers related to the mystery of UFO waves, those periods when UFO reporting increases noticeably and suddenly with respect to average historical records. I have been assisted by a number of top scholars who have contributed references, actual materials, pdfs and online links to create what is intended to be a comprehensive list of the literature on this subject published all over the world. -
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO 2016 Cover The recent large-scale, systematic destruction and looting of cultural heritage has been the dominant theme at UNESCO throughout 2016. One of the Organization’s responses to these attacks on cultural heritage and cultural pluralism is the #Unite4Heritage campaign, a global movement that calls on everyone to harvest the power of culture to bring people together and to celebrate the places, objects and cultural traditions that make the world such a rich and vibrant place. This image produced for the campaign combines past and present, with the head of Buddha Shakyamuni and the face of an Erbore tribe warrior from Ethiopia. © Public Domain LACMA - Los Angeles County Museum of Art/Rod Waddington Published in 2017 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). 7, place de Fontenoy, 75352 Paris 07 SP, France © UNESCO 2017 This publication is available in Open Access under the Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 IGO (CC-BY-SA 3.0 IGO) license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/igo/). Abstract Background: The aim of this study is to investigate whether the public believes high cost patients should be a lower priority for public health care than low cost patients, other things being equal, in order to maximise health gains from the health budget. Semi-structured group discussions were used to help participants reflect critically upon their own views and gain exposure to alternative views, and in this way elicit underlying values rather than unreflective preferences. Participants were given two main tasks: first, to select from among three general principles for setting health care priorities the one that comes closest to their own views; second, to allocate a limited hospital budget between two groups of imaginary patients. -

Ufos, Aliens and Crop Circles
Wilbert B Smith - from Sceptic to Contactee 7. Wilbert B Smith - from Sceptic to Contactee This chapter is adapted from an article written in July 2013, which was itself based on a presentation I compiled in 2003, from research completed by Grant Cameron and others. “The human race in the form of man extends throughout the universe and is incredibly ancient.” These were the words of a certain Canadian radio engineer in a speech he recorded on March 31, 1958 at his home in Ottawa Ontario Canada. I discovered these words, sometime in 2003, thanks to the wonderful website of the extremely knowledgeable Grant Cameron. That website is www.presidentialufo.com (now “moved” to an archive area223) – and it contains a great deal of useful and compelling information and evidence pertaining to the US Government’s and US Presidential knowledge of the UFO/ET issue. Cameron, who became interested in this subject following his personal UFO/ET related-experiences in the 1970s, had been collecting information on Wilbert Smith for about 25 years and he had posted a small selection of it on his website. Other researchers, such as Arthur Bray have also collected and preserved Smith materials and prevented their untimely removal by government employees. Back in 2003, I obtained a CD copy of Grant Cameron’s collection of Smith related files. When I “opened” this treasure trove of information, it became clear to me that a lot more was known about UFO’s/Flying Saucers in the 1950s than I ever realised – at least, things were known by those who chose to seriously investigate the available evidence… Wilbert Brockhouse Smith is not a name which normally comes to mind for most people when they are discussing the evidence pertaining to UFO’s and extra-terrestrial intelligence. -

There is no proof. There are no authorities whatsoever. No president, no academy, court of law, congress, or senate on this Earth has the knowledge or power to decide what will be the knowledge of tomorrow. There is no use in trying toto prove something that is unknown to someone who is ignorant of the unknown or fearful of its threatening power. Only the good, old rules of learning will eventually bring about understanding of what has invaded our earthly existence.” -- Wilhelm Reich, Contact With Space Reich moved from New York to an area just outside the town of Rangeley in rural southern Maine in the early 1950s. Here he built a new home and laboratory personally designed to integrate home and laboratory into a single, brilliantly practical building (now the home of the Wilhelm Reich Museum). -
Nursing in Japanese American Incarceration Camps, 1942-1945
Nursing in Japanese American Incarceration Camps, 1942-1945 Rebecca Ann Coffin Staunton, Virginia BSN, Georgetown University, 1989 MSN, St. Joseph’s College of Maine, 2008 A Dissertation presented to the Graduate Faculty of the University of Virginia in Candidacy for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Department of Nursing University of Virginia May, 2016 © Copyright by Rebecca A. Coffin All Rights Reserved May 2016 i Abstract Japanese Americans living in west coast states had been a marginalized group long before the attack against Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941 by the Empire of Japan, which accelerated the maelstrom of hysteria and hatred against them. As a result, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066, authorizing Secretary of War Stimson and designated military commanders to prescribe military areas from which any or all persons could be excluded. United States military leaders identified all Japanese Americans in the western portions of Washington, Oregon, and California as potential subversive persons that might rise up and sabotage the United States from within its borders. Over 110,000 Japanese Americans were forcibly removed from their homes and transported to one of ten incarceration camps until their loyalty to the United States could be determined. Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9102 established the War Relocation Authority on March 18, 1942. This civilian agency provided for the shelter, nutrition, education, and medical care of the excluded Japanese Americans as they waited to be redistributed within the interior and eastern United States. Previous literature describing the medical care furnished to the Japanese Americans in the camps concentrated on early system problems related to supplies and sanitation efforts. -

Designed and edited by Ash Staunton Center cover image used with permission from Rino Di Stefano, ‘The Zanfretta Case: Chronicle of an Incredible True Story.’ 3 ~ In memory of Frederick Valentich. ~ (1958 - ?) 4 Introduction My hope is that this information will be useful for future generations, be it for entertainment or any other purpose, just hopefully useful. Something strange has been happening, perhaps for thousands of years, mostly ignored, covered up, debunked, but it still happens. Every day someone becomes part of the mystery. ‘Others’ amongst us are reaching out to us, be it from outer space, other dimensions, other realms, etc. Beware, some might not have the best intentions. But I feel this is a necessary process for our species to make that giant leap forward and become the Universal citizens that we were meant to be. 1975 was the year of the high profile Walton abduction and of SAC base intrusions. It was also a year of unrelenting humanoid activity and encounters almost at a worldwide scale. The United States was in the midst of an epidemic of mysterious and bizarre cattle mutilations. It remained the focus of activity as far as humanoid encounters. The same states reporting the cattle mutilations reported humanoid encounters. -
Book Reviews
Book Reviews REVIEW SYMPOSIUM The UFO Controversy in America. By David M. Jacobs. Indiana Uni- versity Press, Bloomington, Ind., 1976. 362 pp. $12.50. DANIEL COHEN: David Michael Jacobs, an assistant professor of history at Temple University, has written what should have been an important book. He has reviewed the entire UFO controversy from 1947 (with a brief look at pre-1947 sightings) to 1974. This is a heroic task, for there is an enormous amount of material on the subject, most of it perfectly awful. While Prof. Jacobs has not read everything, he has clearly read more than most ordinary mortals could bear. He has attempted to do a decent job with an unwieldy subject. And yet, to one who lived through, and in a small way participated in, the UFO controversy, Jacobs' book is disappointing. The whole fuss over UFOs was a lot nuttier than he makes it sound. There is space for only a couple of examples of what I mean. Jacobs makes only one offhand mention of science-fiction and occult editor and publisher Ray Palmer. Yet noted astronomer Donald Menzel gave Palmer major credit for starting the whole UFO controversy. Palmer sure got me mto UFOs. I was a SF reading teen-ager in Chicago when UFOs, or flying saucers as they were called then, first came to public attention. Along with my fellow SF addicts, I got hooked on flying saucers through Palmer-edited publications. I lost my faith in flying saucers when I saw Palmer get smashed in a debate on the subject with Willy Ley at a SF fan convention.
